We the people Silverado are pissed Chevrolet

[–] TheTechnician27@lemmy.world 44 points 1 month ago (3 children)

I remember those dire weeks when the US ran out of money and had to amend the Constitution as part of a sponsorship deal with GMC.

[–] lemmylommy@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Brought to you by Carls Jr

Fuck you! I’m eating.

[–] BossDj@lemm.ee 3 points 1 month ago

The presidential candidates came to the debate stage with sponsor jackets sipping their soda - label out!

Isn't there laws still on the books about obscene language? I mean imagine this asshole driving up to your kids school. Especially elementary or some daycare.

[–] jewbacca117@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Judging by how many stickers like this I've seen on the road, I'm going with no, there aren't any laws like that.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Actually there are they just not being enforced. But you can be arrested for obscene language. At least in these bible belt states.

Well that's it, I'm not voting for Biden either now!

[–] Klear@sh.itjust.works 17 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I'm not voting for Kamala either.

I do wish you luck from beyond the pond though.

Always funny when the petite bourgeoisie cosplays democracy - ”We, The People...

[–] Gingerlegs@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago

Saw this at Costco yesterday and rolled my eyes. Some late 40s lady popped out. Fake tan and everything, I had a laugh

I love seeing all the signs of people who poured their money into anti-biden merch and now they're either too broke or it's too late to change it. I was at Spirit Halloween the other day and saw giant Trump and Biden masks, but no Kamala masks. You just know someone was stuck with a fuckton of now useless inventory.

[–] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 10 points 1 month ago

Political merch in general is just absolute cringe. I find US politics completely insane.

[–] cazssiew@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Well I mean he is still president.

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 27 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I forget what they're pissed about. Are they pissed the country isn't led by a rich man that has the world's richest man backing him and given the ok to do anything he wants by the supreme court?

[–] Supervisor194@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

They're all just highly manipulable people. They aren't necessarily stupid, and may be ambitious and even successful. But here's why they're so manipulable: at their core, they're just not very smart.

There's this sort of very American idea that appeals to people who aren't very smart and it appears to have been indulged in since the country was founded. It's passed down from parents to their children, it's pervasive - and if you're American, you will recognize it because you will have seen it firsthand - quite a lot. In a nutshell it works like this:

a) I am fucking awesome
b) Everyone else are idiots, to greater or lesser degrees
c) The world is not that complicated
d) All you need is a work ethic and common sense

To people informed by this American sort of ideal, anyone who deals in nuance or shades of grey is simply one of the aforementioned idiots who is trying to hide their own lack of work ethic and/or common sense by making the world seem more complicated than it is.

The problem is, they are living in a fantasy world that doesn't really exist, because:

a) they are not really that awesome
b) nearly everyone else is smarter than they are
c) the world is incredibly complicated
d) sometimes a work ethic and common sense is worthless

Living in a fantasy world has an exhausting effect because the real world continues to exist and is the way it is without regard to your fantasy - which is incredibly frustrating for them. This frustration is what makes them so manipulable. Literally anyone who comes along and tells them they have it right is in possession of a key that will unlock these people in a very dramatic fashion.

They will give away everything they own, give over their entire existence, pledge fealty - their devotion will know nearly no bounds. The practical upshot of this is shitheels who post "FUCK BIDEN" on their truck and listen 24/7 to any media that tells them they are right about the world. They are just so dead tired of the real world constantly reminding them of how wrong they are - because they are.

That’s a pretty good analysis. But it’s missing a huge component. It’s missing The Jesus.

Some magical authority that can never be questioned without consequence and can be interpreted in any way authority sees fit. It’s chaotic evil in the guise of a sweet fairy tale where we all get presents and go to heaven (except some of us but don’t think about it).

[–] Supervisor194@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Absolutely 100%. Being raised to be credulous enough to believe in literal Harry Potter levels of magical thinking without the slightest hint of self-reflection is another huge contributing factor to them being so manipulable.

When you already unironically believe in magic, it's easy to believe in and act on things that the rest of us can only drop our jaws and stare at in disbelief.

Never trust a Christian

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Something something Dems bad.

[–] WoahWoah@lemmy.world 24 points 1 month ago

I think this is part of why the Republicans got so angry that Biden withdrew. They'd already spent all that money on "let's go Brandon" tshirts, "fuck Joe Biden bumper stickers," paint jobs depicting Biden tied up in their truck beds, etc. They're just mad that they had to pay to update all their Chinese-made childish and insulting political paraphernalia.

[–] niktemadur@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Angry weirdo with a willfully low IQ showing that reality doesn't even matter to him anymore, stubbornly lazy and ignorant, insists on throwing a blunt destructive and self-destructive tantrum.

This is the equivalent of smearing himself in his own feces, then probably wondering why so many avoid him like the plague.

[–] Aarrodri@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Reminded that early voting is on. Go out and vote. Don't vote for Biden nor Trump!😉😉..

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

I'm still waiting for my ballot to arrive.

But FWIW I'm more than likely just going to vote in person on election day, like I always have. I don't trust the republicans to not mess with mail-in ballots.

When a child decorates their manly truck.

[–] ArtVandelay@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

I believe that's called an emotional support vehicle.

Wow, me and this angry political weirdo has something in common. We're both not going to vote for Biden

Politics makes for strange bedfellows

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago (4 children)

I wonder if they can articulate a single verifiable reason why they're pissed at Biden.

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

He's not hurting the people they hate

Write in Biden on the ballot anyways, take a picture, print it out and leave it on his windshield like an advertisement for him to rage at, then fill the entire flatbed with Dark Brandon merch, record his reaction, and send it to him later so he'll know what a grown toddler having an eternal temper tantrum looks like. Create a Truth Social account and upload it to there for extra credit.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fraktur

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I guess I'm not part of the people since I'm not pissed, just depressed.

The same, "we the people," that would destroy the US Constitution. Fuck them, I'm voting Blue.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

He might just be lazy.
