/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Damn - lost opportunity. That one's better.

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 3 points 1 week ago

This one seems less annoying, smarter.

[–] vrek@programming.dev 18 points 1 week ago

I had a job doing that but I quit... It was "soda pressing"

Not the Wesley CRUSHers, the WESLEY crushers

[–] draughtcyclist@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

Why is this not Bev?

[–] DudeImMacGyver@kbin.earth 6 points 1 week ago

Doesn't Wheaton make his own beer? You should see if you can buy some from him and use it in the crusher lol

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

I love that you named it this. I have a can crusher too named Wesley Crusher.

[–] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago

This is a can crusher. A Wesley crusher would crush Wesleys.

Is that a clothes washing machine in the kitchen?

[–] CelloMike@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yup, pretty standard thing in the UK

[–] tehfishman@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Interesting, I had no idea. TIL

[–] AnarchistArtificer@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Where is it typical for washing machines to be where you're from? Based off of TV/movies, I'd guess in a dedicated laundry/utility room, but it seems implausible that most people have one of those.

I can confirm that washing machine in the kitchen is standard in the UK; I can count on one hand the number of homes that I've seen where the washing machine wasn't in the kitchen.

a laundry room / closet is standard fare for a home in the USA

[–] tehfishman@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Yeah, laundry room, sometimes with a separate "slop sink" for extra filthy things. A laundry closet with a stacked washer/dryer is far more common though, especially in rental apartments/flats.

Pretty much true, but I’ve seen exceptions. At least in the Southwestern US, the smaller the home, the more likely it is the kitchen will be very near the laundry room.

In both my childhood home (built 1997, one story) and my dad’s childhood home (trailer, built 1973), the β€œlaundry room” was basically a hallway off the kitchen.

The washer is never directly in the kitchen or under a countertop, though.

Bathroom, it takes up too much space in the kitchen

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

In the us, historically a lot were in basements but for decades now they typically have laundry rooms.

It feels weird, but I'm told that's the norm outside the US. It kind of makes sense from a plumbing perspective.

Yeah, it simplifies plumbing the house.

How much Orange Crush could Wesley crusher crush if Wesley crusher could crush Crush?

[–] usualsuspect191@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago

Neat! Too bad we don't crush cans anymore in my neck of the woods, it can be really satisfying.

[–] random@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 week ago

I love it, I'd 3d print one if there wasn't a return system where I live

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I just drop them off at any supermarket for recycling, and get 25ct per can.
