‘I Expected Better’

this is what you voted for.

if you want 'better', make better choices--inside and outside the voting booth.

[–] SoleInvictus@lemmy.blahaj.zone 32 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I expected better, i.e., she didn't spend a single moment looking into Trump as a candidate and just believed everything he and his cronies said.

[–] mjhelto@lemm.ee -2 points 4 days ago

Definitely! Happy cake day!

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 19 points 5 days ago (1 children)

She expected better? I expected better of her. dumbass.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee -3 points 4 days ago

Her last name is pig, got, probably a play on words for bigot.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Trump said it several times: I don't care about you, I only your votes.

[–] SouthEndSunset@lemm.ee 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

This isn’t even a “he said some vague things about what he’d do to the USA”. He straight up told people what he was going to do. Now he’s doing it people are all surprised Pikachu face.

They literally published project 2025 in it's entirety months before the election.

I can relate. I'm a NON RACIST who voted for Trump thinking he would ONLY go after Trans and Brown CHILDREN! I didnt KNOW he would also go after ME, a WHITE PERSON!

[–] NimdaQA@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

“I thought his policies would only affect the POORS” - MAGAite fascist

[–] mriguy@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

Well once you don’t have a job, you’re a poor! Working as intended.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 4 days ago

[–] ech@lemm.ee 44 points 4 days ago

[–] Ep1cFac3pa1m@lemmy.world 43 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I expected better

cut waste and fraud

If at any point she actually believed Trump was going to do that, then mission accomplished. Her energy to empower Trump was wasted and she is only a fraud to herself.

I have very little in any expectation that she will learn from this. She will absolutely believe the next con man and lose again. That whole

I’m not sure that I would have [voted for Trump], and the way that it’s been done... I’m for balancing the budget, that type of thing, but not, not in this context, it’s just not right

Is just so devoid of any rational thought that I find it difficult to believe this person is real. And if what she says is indeed the fact, she's too blind, lacking a better appreciation of how government works, or some mixture of both that one could likely bank on her falling for this exact same con several more times in her life.

There's just no way anyone could have listened to Trump in the run up and bought so blindly what he was pitching. Just a simple basic understanding of the notion that humans lie is enough to have seen past Trump. Truly if this whole story is true, there's not a stopping this lady from more self flagellation. She is in a position that being a rational thinking person would not get themselves into, so there is no rational means to help her escape her level of desire to cause self harm.

God, these people are dumb...

[–] runiq@feddit.org 14 points 4 days ago

leopard etc. face pp.

[–] Iheartcheese@lemmy.world 16 points 4 days ago

A lot of effort when she could have just told everyone she's a fucking imbecile years ago?

[–] NimdaQA@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago

She voted for the Leopards Eating People's Faces Party and was surprised that leopards ate her face?

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

This is typical. Why would you expect anything than what they say?

[–] Australis13@fedia.io 1 points 4 days ago (2 children)

At least she regrets her decision and seems to be capable of learning.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 26 points 4 days ago (1 children)

naw. as far as I can tell, she only regrets it because it affected her. no lessons learned.

[–] Aidinthel@reddthat.com 13 points 4 days ago (1 children)

The bar is on the absolute floor, but I'll take it. Better than that one guy who said he didn't regret his vote after ICE got his wife.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

pretty sure they've tossed the bar into the bottom of the latrine, at this point.

The thing is, she'd do it again. she has no right to be surprised. he made it very clear what he was going to do, and how he was going to do it.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Wake me when she remembers how to act to actually reverse course and work for the other side

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Derrrrrrrrrrrp.

[–] Hobbes_Dent@lemmy.world -1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I expected better.

So did we.

[–] Rakonat@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

No this is pretty much par for what I expected. The fact that we don't have news stories spreading around about concentration camps in the desert by now actually shocks me. We're absolutely fucked and this dumpster fire isn't going away anytime soon, but it hasn't starting launching poo quickly as I anticipated.

The fact that we don’t have news stories spreading around about concentration camps in the desert by now actually shocks me.

Those camps exist. ICE disappears people on the streets and puts them in those camps.
Tourists from western countries, with valid visas and white skin were put in those camps.
They haven't gone the next step from "detainment" (=concentration) camps to death camps.
But it took the OG Nazis 9 years to go that step, too. After they did the math and realized that "evicting" millions of people isn't possible.
Make no mistake, the current US regime won't have any moral qualms about going that step, too.
I just hope they don't have 9 years. But I also know for sure that if Trump dies, this won't end. Vance and the gang are actually even worse.

Heads up: With the current camps, you're in the year 1933.
If you read about "criminal aliens" in "ICE detainment camps" doing labor for public works, that's the next step. That's the year 1940.
If you hear about a "food supply issue", a "spread of disease" or "red cross being denied access" in those camps, that's the last step. 1942.
