"ah sorry, I must have missed it because you're not in my VIPs"

I have no VIPs :-)

I often get teams notifications on my phome 10-15 minites later and not in order

[–] DrDeadCrash@programming.dev 3 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I removed that shit from my phone, it's so nice to be unreachable when not at my desk.

[–] judgyweevil@feddit.it 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

But it's also nice to don't have to be glued to your desk in case they're trying to reach you

[–] DrDeadCrash@programming.dev 2 points 3 hours ago

They can reach me in another way if it's important, or just wait a damn minute till I get back. The day my boss called me over and over while I was on the crapper (thinking I was ignoring him ???) was the end of that app on my phone.

The worst thing is when someone uses @here in a slack channel where lots of people are, where the message is not even relevant to most of them Just useless distraction

[–] noughtnaut@lemmy.world 19 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago) (1 children)

Look, slack is 1000% better than Teams will ever be. But, Slack is also enshittifying themselves, eg. with their 3-month event horizon.

Anything Slack can do, Mattermost does -- and Mattermost is free, open source, and self-hostable.

This is my hill.

+1 a new fan of Mattermost, using it at our small company.

I just love when I get a meeting update in my Outlook and Teams says "new notification!" but it's the same notification as Outlook that I've already cleared, but then my phone buzzes because Teams is shouting "There is new activity!" but it's not new activity, it's the same notification I've already cleared on both Outlook and Teams on my laptop

[–] FiniteLooper@lemm.ee 4 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

There is a Teams setting to disable calendar notifications. I did this for the exact reason you just described

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 21 points 22 hours ago

I just sent you a WUPH

[–] nogooduser@lemmy.world 7 points 19 hours ago

There’s a setting on the phone app to block notifications when you’re active on the desktop. It works well for me.

I don’t think that I get meeting notifications on my teams on desktop either so they just come up in outlook.

[–] Psythik@lemm.ee 4 points 19 hours ago

This is why I disabled notifications for all of my work-related apps.

The lion better reply to my message or he's not getting his KPI reports on time and I will not be quiet about why its late.

I hate teams. We use it for work and everyone just haaaates it. OAuth half the time doesn't work, so we have to go to the browser.

Windows updates have broken it and it wont open as an app a couple of times. It takes up an obscene amount of CPU just sitting there being an electron app. My work windows box has about 2x the specs of my laptop and my laptop runs sooo much faster than windows/teams bs. Windows 11 is going to use react on the start bar....and I cant imagine what this is going to look like with teams on top. I wish we got linux/*NIX machines to work with like my last job.

[–] Midnitte@beehaw.org 2 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Tbf, we have experienced none of that - that sounds like your IT might have some things misconfigured...

Biggest pain in the ass is having to resign in to Outlook, Teams, and Office when the password reset timer is hit :/

[–] mesamunefire@piefed.social 3 points 23 hours ago

Probably.

But teams has messed up in another work place before as well. The October update in 2023 borked the entire office at a completely different workplace. Fun times.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 19 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

I actually would prefer to be contacted on teams instead of email...

I'm copied on EVERYTHING, my inbox is utterly useless

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 15 points 21 hours ago (4 children)

Yeah I've effectively given up on email at this point. Just Teams me. And don't say "hey". Say what the fuck you want.

[–] calcopiritus@lemmy.world 6 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

I believe this is the same people that will respond "not now, I'm in a meeting". I know you're in a meeting. It's called asynchronous communication. I can message you whenever I want, and you can read and reply whenever you want. The messages won't go away.

Or even worse "I have not arrived at the office yet". Then don't fucking read teams.

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 3 points 10 hours ago

Yeah they have stupid desktop notifications on

[–] nogooduser@lemmy.world 9 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

There are people in my org that always start with a “Hi” and then send each sentence as a new message. Very irritating.

[–] JordanZ@lemmy.world 10 points 18 hours ago

They’ll always wait for me to respond before telling me whatever issue they’re having….Just out with it in the first message.

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago) (1 children)

Once I start regularly communicating with someone and they keep doing this "hi" business, I just start replying with this link https://nohello.net/

[–] Tiger@sh.itjust.works 2 points 10 hours ago

Great link thank you, a whole website for one small idea, love it.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 3 points 20 hours ago

"Got a minute?" not until I know why

[–] latenightnoir@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Noooo, I could've used this during my Last Week of Fun! Our boss REALLY loved inane, smart-sounding quotes, I wonder if he would have figured this one out.
