That's the correct statement, no need to phrase it any other way. A lot of people are utter shit.
Am I just getting old or is this sub just full of watch nephews? People are acting here like they've never heard of F.P. Journe's antics throughout the years. His personality and attitude are not exactly industry secret.
And by the way, Michael and Christian are just talking out of their asses. As far as I know, there's nothing sexual or racist from his latest tirade. Those are just dumb speculations. We're talking about an almost-autistic man who genuinely believes he is the next best thing to God in watchmaking, not a dirty old man who used to stack "gooks" five feet high in Korea to use them as sandbags.
F.P. Journe has been alienating collectors ever since he started his brand. Unlike most other watchmakers, he views most collectors with contempt. Many times, he has refused to sell his watches to collectors who don't properly show him their appreciation of his horological prowess.
But don't just take my word for it. Here are some "internet evidence" I've nicely collected for you since you all seem to be born yesterday:
- "FPJ himself is a stellar watchmaker but a boer of an individual who is legendary to watch industry insiders as to conducting himself in a manner considered by most to be totally unacceptable from a business standpoint and non-customer focused (I am putting this nicely)."
- "Maybe if FPJ is more likeable, he could sell more watches or demand higher price. If you like the person, maybe you'll like the products even more. I hear he's not a very sociable person, a horological genius nevertheless."
- When asked by William Massena on why he started his own brand, Journe simply replied "Because I am fed up of giving caviar to swine!"
- "Luckily, Journe has amassed a cult following of rabid collectors and fellow watchmakers who marvel over his creations. Therefore, he can take any attitude he wants. Some might call him temperamental and arrogant."

Still confused why nobody will say what he said.
A few reasons to that. It’s going to generate more content and clicks by dragging this shit out long term, so for the YouTubers or content creators who make their living off of making watch content, the longer they talk about this by slowly releasing the info the better.
Also, the watch industry is fucking weird, with most brands and individuals being oddly shuttered and extremely secretive, so the people who know this info probably do not want to directly come out and say what they heard, in fear of their identity being outed and being blacklisted in the industry. Not even exaggerating saying this but FPJ in particular will literally blacklist customers for selling their watches. They expect them to buy and keep forever, and if you ever sell, ESPECIALLY if it’s a limited production piece, you will never buy from them again.
They likely just don't know the details. It's all second- or third-hand rumour to them too.
Well you wouldn't want to risk yourself being open to a defamation lawsuit so they just say stuff without saying anything.
Maybe they should give F.P. journe a second chance. Give his dad an opportunity to mentor him, sure he’s gonna give Christian’s dad a call and they’ll realize it was all locker room talk. It was an honest mistake and everyone deserves a second chance, right T&H?

Fingers crossed Jorne prices tank. I missed an opportunity for a CB back in 2017. I got cold feet about such a big buy while still in college. The boutique called and said my order was ready and I regrettably cancelled.

Their video is ridiculous, one of them didnt even know FP journes name yet we’re expected to take whatever they say as truth. They’ve never met him, dont know his full name, dont own any. Lets not take this as anything other than a couple of out of touch american kids who couldnt point to Switzerland on a map speculating about rumours to drive engagement with their videos

Most of the worst stuff seems to be speculation, so for now we only know with reasonable certainty that he’s an arrogant asshole.
Why not support another independent watchmaker? People talk about who The Gronefeld brothers, Rexhep, Max Busser… the list goes on with watchmakers that are known to be good people that make incredible watches. If you’re shopping Journe, you could shop these other manufacturers.
Not calling for a cancellation and if you honestly love the watches then don’t shy away because of internet rumors.
