Steph doesn't have shit to prove to anyone with a brain. Won before KD, with KD, and after KD. What has KD done without the greatest regular season basketball team of all time?
KD is an all time great scorer but hopping on Steph's bandwagon to win a couple of easy rings tarnishes his legacy.
How many rings KD have? How many of those rings did he win without Steph?
Because KD had to crawl over to Steph to win a ring. He hasn't come lose since he left. Curry didn't need KD, KD needed Curry.

Stop looking at stats and watch basketball.
Two rings w/o KD, 4 total, maybe the greatest 3pt shooter ever, only Unanimous MVP, took a broken franchise to one of th greatest runs in history.

Cause Curry won multiple championships without KD. KD can’t win one without Curry.
For me personally? It’s Steph’s playmaking and limited offensive support. I’m not pretending like KD has had it easy so far with the Suns, but he’s had a few games with Booker, and the Suns as a unit look more competitive than GSW right now. Klay’s talent is fading and Draymond isn’t as good on defense anymore.
So Steph makes his teammates so much better but he's also better because he has no help?

I would say because Curry changed the game too. Durant is one of the most gifted scorers to ever play, but he has not changed the game the way Curry has.

Def not hard carrying. CP3 and the Warriors bench has been amazing all year. Meanwhile every single starter has a negative plus minus for the year.
Steph’s shot the ball historically great clip but the rest of his game has slipped noticeably.

For most fans, it's because Curry won a ring and FMVP in 2022 while Durant hasn't won anything since leaving the Warriors.
For other fans, it's because Curry is a better offensive player because he has a positive effect on possessions even when he doesn't touch the ball. impact metric shows Curry being better than Durant before, during, and after their stint together.

Curry is legit just a better player than KD is in my opinion. I know a few years ago a lot of people would have said the opposite but Durant had it so fucking easy when he was in Golden State.
Durant is an all time offensive player but he's had several series in the playoffs before and after GSW where teams with the right personnel could load up on him and limit his productivity (MEM, GSW and BOS for example). In OKC especially this was a personnel problem as a lot of the time they were playing 3 non-shooters that teams like the Warriors or Grizzlies didn't have to respect with Westbrook, Adams and Roberson. When he played Boston in 22 they warped their entire defense around keeping him away from his spots and they basically had 5 quality defenders in their starting lineup.
When he played next to Curry he got all of the 1 on 1 iso's he wanted because of Curry's shooting, and as he's one of the best iso scorers ever he was incredibly efficient in their title runs. So he obviously looked a ton better and won the FMVPs.
But Curry was and has always been the engine that made that team go. That's evidenced by the Warriors numbers with KD on and Curry off vs with Curry on and KD off.

That being said, I'm not a KD hater or anything. I think its incredible how fucking insanely good he is to still be putting up top tier offensive numbers in terms of volume and efficiency at 35 after injuries and age have turned him basically entirely into a jump shooter with little driving game.
Cuz he won multiple championships without him. Plus people have grown sick of Kevin’s team-hopping. Fair or not
What does 2015 and 2022 have to do with who's the better player RIGHT NOW?
Obvious reason is Stephs possibly the goat playmaker. He’s a great scorer but his greatest impact on the court is his off ball playmaking. It’s more effective in raising his team mates shooting percentages than even jokics on ball playmaking.

Two things: (1) Curry's intangibles are superior, and (2) Curry has a presumption of superiority after 2022. Curry sonned a Celtics team that held KD to one of the worst playoff series a prime top-15 guy has ever had.
Comparing who is better at the elite top tier of players is always going to be contentious. There’s about 5 guys in the league who have really strong arguments for #1.
Steph vs KD specifically though, I think Steph is more of an engine on offense and causes absolute chaos with his off-ball movement. There’s an argument here that Steph makes his teammates better in this regard.
KD will demand a double team each and every time he touches the ball, which is a huge issue when he’s next to Book who also demands constant doubles. But this is also a more predictable pattern for defenses who can define rotations, overplay, and feel good living or dying by Okogie taking the wide open 3.
Steph is more of an offensive engine, KD is indisputably more valuable on defense, but come playoff time, they’re both elite players and it’s typically going to come down to who can execute better on like 2 plays down the stretch.

Because if you put Curry on the Suns instead of KD, with a positionally balanced roster, they would immediately be a better team. Do the inverse for KD on the warriors (which we’ve already seen), they are immediately worse.
The Suns would be a better team based on what exactly?
He always has been. Even when they were in the same team, it was always Steph’s team.
It was def KD's team. 2 fMVPs and some of their players even said he was the best player on the team.
