Imagine being a black man in America and calling vaccine mandates akin to slavery...

[–] fluxion@lemmy.world 46 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Nothing says freedom like children dying from preventable diseases

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 10 points 4 months ago

Freeing their souls from their bodies.

While at the same time watching our museums say that slavery was good for black people

Haven't you heard? Trump says slavery isn't so bad.

[–] Boddhisatva@lemmy.world 25 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The Florida education system says slavery was good for them.

The Florida State Board of Education’s new standards includes controversial language about how “slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit”

Florida: shithole of shitholes.

[–] baronvonj@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

Just look a map, clearly Florida is America's dickhole. The Gulf Coast is the shithole.

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

Go there in the summer, proof that it is hell.

[–] Machinist@lemmy.world 28 points 4 months ago (3 children)

Jesus fucking a goat.

If this goes on for long there will be so many dead or crippled children. So many dead people. It won't stay constrained to Florida. This will put immunocompromised people at risk all over the country. Herd immunity is fucked.

Also, if it lasts long, expect other willfully ignorant states to do the same.

Fuck, I'm tired.

[–] LordCrom@lemmy.world 7 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Somebody in power in this state owns an Iron Lung manufacturing facility....

Bringing back polio is really just to help their profits.

That reads like a bad Bond villain but I can almost guarantee it's true.

Well see, in the American for profit health system, the system is incentived to keep you sick, not cure you. If you get cured, you don't need them anymore, so they are bringing back polio to make themselves rich at your expense, once again.

[–] Machinist@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago (3 children)

A conspiracy like that would require a level of organization that isn't present.

It's willful ignorance and cultic tribalism gone real bad.

They really believe there is a vaccine conspiracy that causes autism and is being used for mind control or whatever.

at this point I'm considering starting to just hope that most of america's population dies and only the smart ones are left

and hopefully that's enough of the compassionate smart ones, not the selfish ones

I figure if america has closed borders, there's a chance?

[–] neukenindekeuken@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 months ago

Unfortunately Polio doesn't care about political beliefs. Good people will die right alongside bad.

[–] MTK@lemmy.world 17 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Ah yes, I once had a vaccine and I remember going home to serve my master and get whipped. But after a few days the slavery side effects went away and I got back to being a white kid in the 2000s.

WTF goes through these people's minds?

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 2 points 4 months ago

I understand PoC being suspicious of vaccines. Tuskegee experiment was real. But it shouldn't be the only guiding policy of public health.

[–] lettruthout@lemmy.world 16 points 4 months ago

Wait… I thought a lot of people in the South liked slavery. They call it The Confederacy.

[–] Deathgl0be@lemmy.world 14 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Natural selection is great for these idiots.

Thanks to our steady transition from America to Dumb-fuck-istan, the only purpose in life a lot of children will have is to serve as sad, painful lessons for their parents. I just hope they don't have to suffer any more than necessary while teaching them those lessons.

[–] Deathgl0be@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

Yeah sadly. And these people will replace it with bleach and raw milk

Polio will return in the Florida Oblast. What a bunch of dumbfucks.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 12 points 4 months ago (1 children)

WASHINGTON − President Donald Trump said the Smithsonian museums in Washington are too fixated on "how bad slavery was" and other negative aspects of United States history as he promised to take aim at the "WOKE" elements inside them.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2025/08/19/trump-complains-smithsonian-focused-bad-slavery-woke/85730652007/

So, is slavery back to being bad?

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Those slaves were unvaccinated so they were happy slaves.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 4 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I think this person doesn't know what slavery is and how vaccines work or what they are for.

[–] WanderingThoughts@europe.pub 9 points 4 months ago (1 children)

One more reason for tourists to stay away I guess.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

Florida really is the worst place to travel to. What a fucking shit hole

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Oh, so slavery is bad now, is it?

[–] themadcodger@kbin.earth 5 points 4 months ago

Owning people as chattel: stop focusing on the negativity! Wearing masks and not dying from preventable diseases: literal slavery.

[–] etherphon@midwest.social 7 points 4 months ago

Lol, my family is planning a trip to the keys next summer, won't be joining this one, I don't want to spend a penny in that cursed state.

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 7 points 4 months ago

You were always free not to vaccinate your kids if you kept them out of the school system. But you're also gonna say using a child's non-prefered pronouns or non-prefered name isn't anything like slavery at all, when slave owners would never do anything like rename people against their will.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

If you have any working brain cells and you still live in Florida get the fuck out while you can. If this doesn’t kill you the hurricanes will.

[–] frog_brawler@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

Cost of Living in FL has been skyrocketing.

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

Their idea of freedom is to return to a preindustrial state.

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

Avoiding spreading disease is a lot like involuntary servitude. What with all the systemic disenfranchisement and, ya know, whipping...

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

Ah Florida.

I hear they're sewing that state up so tight it'll never even vote again. Goddamn.

Well the beaches are pretty. Or were.

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 4 points 4 months ago

How does Joseph Ladapo sleep at night? Probably soundly on a mattress full of money.

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

It's tough to be an optimist these days. But like, at least they'll flood first, right?
