Not really. The year old news (year and a half actually) is that they forgot to unload the mines. This has been discovered now because it's been now that the general has been dismissed as it's been now that Ikea has called asking when are they going to pick them up.

Challenge: link to as many unrelated articles as possible

In June 2024, a train carrying more than 1,000 tons of explosives was improperly unloaded by Polish troops, the report said, who mistakenly left the anti-tank mines to continue their rail-bound journey around the country until they were eventually offloaded in the furniture behemoth’s warehouse.

Kępczyński, meanwhile, reportedly kept the mishap from his superiors while furnishing subsequent supply reports that featured false numbers.

That approach appeared to have worked — at least until an Ikea warehouse representative telephoned military officials and inquired about “when they would collect their mines,” according to one report.

That’s almost funnier than these comments

Cackling at this.

Ah a typical government employee. Something goes wrong, do you:

  1. Immediately send someone to fix the shipment and get the stuff back
  2. Falsify reports to hide the fact that any mistake happened

while furnishing subsequent supply reports

I see what you did there.

I had a good chuckle at this. It just seems like IKEA were politely waiting for the mines to be dealt with .

Man, is there anything IKEA doesn’t sell?

Nah, they have some great stuff. It's just way more expensive than the cheap MDF and cardboard garbage that sells by the boatload.

Those would be hard to flat pack….

Something something blowout deal

Imagine trying to follow the assembly instructions… “why do I have this extra bit left over?”

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

You have to disarm them with an Allen wrench.

[–] justsomeguy@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Think of the savings though. Ikea as a military supplier. Everything is cardboard but it works. 4$ landmines. 19,99$ cardboard roll mortar? Don't mind if we do.

Warranty void once assembled.

That General was just trying to get supplies to the people trapped in the infinite IKEA! https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-3008

hope he left the Allen keys to put the mines together with them too
