Help others in need, let your torrents seed.

When you do use traditional social media, try to actively downvote and if you can justify it report engagement bait. People will intentionally do stuff like pronouncing things wrong or even just straight up lying about shit just to get engagement from people correcting them. Also do the same for people that add nothing but their facial expression to call something their own content or even another stolen video played side by side or who post still memes as video.

Federation has the opportunity to solve a lot of these issues but unless special attention is taken to create voting systems that promote healthy community engagement the corporate pressures will eventually push into these spaces as well. I've wondered for a while if there's a good way to create an algorithm that would offer the comfort of a targeted media algorithm except readable, modifiable and executable only by the end user's client. Piefed is probably the best push towards that kind of functionality currently, but very prototypically.

Be Kind, Rewind was released in 2008. I 100% was torrenting and seeding back then.

[–] moonshadow@slrpnk.net 24 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Had no idea it was a movie, was a slogan at video rental places (that were pretty much out of business by 2008) before I was born. Seeding torrents is a p deece analogy for the benefit it provided

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Its jack black and mos def iirc. Fuck jack black, pirate the movie.

[–] Couldbealeotard@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What's wrong with Jack Black?

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Trumper. Thin skinned ass hole

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is he? I figured he just sold out and didn't want to jeopardize any of his contracts due to calls for political violence. Still disappointing, but I haven't seen any evidence that he's actually a Trumper.

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He's basically by the band broke up. Kyle made a joke about someone taking a shot at trump, something about better aim, Jack got all pissy about it.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, "next time don't miss", I'm familiar with the event. My point is it seems way more likely that the motivation there was "Publicly calling for the assassination of the president of the United States will probably make the major studios who pay me millions of dollars less likely to continue doing that." and not "I support trump and didn't think he should be assassinated".

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

My side is, trump has been spewing hatred the last 2 decades, now someone does something about and people are all "keep violence and hate out of politics!" which is how I see jack black acting. Trump can go fuck himself along with Jack. Hypocrites all around.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 1 points 12 hours ago

I mean sure, but my point is that he's a sellout, not MAGA. He didn't defend Trump, he defended his bag. It's still bad but it's not the same thing.

Then again, fuck, how many songs/skits do they have centered around breaking up? I wouldn't be totally surprised if they spin this into a reunion thing after the heat dies. I can visualize the conversation like the show never ended:

"Dude, Kage, you know I love you. But that was some provocative shit you just said, and I don't disagree. But I am on the line for tens of millions, with an M, contractually obligated US dollars. Dinero, Rage. Let's just take a little breaky-poo, circle back after pay day, and use all that cash to double down on the righteousness. I'm gonna need you to take the heat, but it's all gonna pay off in the end. We can't lose! Two Kings?"

Maybe it's just cope, but the recurring theme of betrayal indicates to me that either it was always an abusive relationship, or that the treachery is at least potentially performative.

At one of the bigger groceries I've been to, the wheels would lock up if you got too far from the store. Well, we'd parked outside that range so the wheels locked up and I had to awkwardly drag the full cart to the car.

Being a good person, I went to drag it back to the return spot. The wheels did not unlock. Dragged it all the way back anyway.

But given this, I can see why someone might just abandon their cart if the wheels are locked.

Given the economy, it may be "If you see someone stealing food, no you didn't."

Do people not rewind their streaming media? No wonder it takes so long to load.

I wouldn't say it's the equivalent but I kind of enjoy this...

Have the day you deserve.

It's not pleasant if you're an asshole and a grumpy fuck. And it's great if you're a good person..

Maybe about plugging in devices to charge when you're done with them? Schools use laptops a lot now, but don't think they're communal ones on carts anymore.

True story: once I have seen a device for sale on eBay, for rewinding DVD's. On the photo it was mainly a green tissue box.
