Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

He's afraid of the midterms. As soon as he won them they'll be marching back twice as repressive.

I dunno. Ppl are pretty stupid

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 5 points 3 days ago

We think that but let's see how far right the dems go to cause more voter apathy.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 140 points 4 days ago (4 children)

He then added, "We will, however, guard, and very powerfully so, any and all Federal Buildings that are being attacked by these highly paid Lunatics, Agitators, and Insurrectionists.

Also known as Americans who don't like seeing their neighbors kidnapped or executed in the street. And Trump is one to talk about insurrectionists.

"highly paid Lunatics, Agitators, and Insurrectionists"

Sounds like he's describing the kinds of people who joined ICE.

[–] notwhoyouthink@lemmy.zip 6 points 4 days ago

And support ICE, and livestream and make contact broadcasting their support, and agitate anti-ICE protesters for engagement on said livestreams.

Every accusation is a confession, don’t ever forget that.

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 31 points 4 days ago

Trump is one to talk about insurrectionists.

It takes one to know one.

Who has money to pay all those people? The only billionaires with that sort of cash to throw around in politics are firmly lodged up his own asshole.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 2 points 3 days ago

I already protest, would love to get paid for it too!

[–] imrighthere@lemmy.ca 7 points 4 days ago

They aren't going to use their money, they are going to use yours.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 76 points 4 days ago (2 children)

This is trying to make it sound like he wasn't in on all of this shit since the beginning. He's trying to distance himself from it. You ordered all this fuckhead.

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago

He's fairly good at damage control, I mean people with a triple-digit IQ see through it, but none of those folks are in his base so

[–] Zombie@feddit.uk 4 points 4 days ago

Dear Leader can't possibly have done anything wrong, it's his subordinates that are misleading him. Don't worry comrade, he will get to the bottom of this and purge those who bring him shame.

His brain is cooked...

He flipflops between state/local governments being responsible for federal.property to the feds being responsible like half a dozen times just in the quotes.

[–] Triton420@mander.xyz 33 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I give it 36 hours before he contradicts himself and orders more cities invaded

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 28 points 4 days ago

Not only does he have dementia, no one is giving him accurate information to start with.

If Faux News says there's rioting in Seattle, trump just takes that as reality.

It doesn't matter what happens, just what trump sees on Faux News. There's always talk about other dictators influencing trump, but it's just whoever he hears last and he watches Faux daily, so it's almost always the last thing he heard.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 27 points 4 days ago (1 children)

All cities are Dem cities.

Almost all big Cities are blue.

The only ones not are those that have been Gerrymandered to hell

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 days ago

There are one or two cities in the US that are not Dem-controlled.

[–] pjwestin@lemmy.world 21 points 4 days ago

"Please be aware that I have instructed ICE and/or Border Patrol to be very forceful in this protection of Federal Government Property."

Well, they just gassed a bunch of peaceful protesters in Portland, including children, so I guess that part is true.

He's got a new and shiny distraction from the Epstein files in the form of an invasion of Iran. He can let the hype start to fade on the deportation crisis now.

[–] ryokimball@infosec.pub 18 points 4 days ago

NOW GET THE FUCK OUT OF MEMPHIS

[–] frustrated_phagocytosis@fedia.io 14 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Did he tell Miller first? That's the chain of command after all.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

Did you misspell 'putin'?

[–] Nebraska_Huskers@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Is this a victory?

[–] in_my_honest_opinion@piefed.social 9 points 4 days ago (2 children)
[–] SupraMario@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

Because he already forgot.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 4 points 4 days ago

You have to read the article because the headline is dishonest. He didn't tell her to leave them alone, he told her not to get involved in responding to protests.

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 8 points 4 days ago (4 children)

leave Dem cities alone 'unless they ask'

Remember that Trump always refers to himself as "we". So he's not talking about he democratic cities asking here...

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 days ago

He probably just believes those voices in his head are separate people, or maybe he doesn't know how to count.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

"We" and "they" are two different words tho...

Like, they're opposites even...

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

You think that dense tub of custard knows what "antonym" means?

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Diffusion of accountability. When something goes his way, its invariably 'I".

[–] adespoton@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 days ago

Like on Epstein’s island, I expect a heavy dose of “well, they were asking for it….”

[–] devolution@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

Well this is throwing her under the bus creation factory.

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 2 points 4 days ago

Ask for consent just like all the times Ol' Lumpy Trumpie sexual assaulted women.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 1 points 4 days ago
[–] dhork@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

I'm sure he thinks all of Jeffrey's girls "asked" for it, too.

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

I feel like someone owes me some money…
