People's moral compass got seriously screwed over the past couple years. They hate america so much that they think every enemy of america is literally the reincarnation of jesus christ.
Believing Saddam is in heaven would require believing in some sort of god/afterlife/good place vs bad place, and I assure you the vast majority of people who make satirical memes commenting on the United States once again using the excuse of “WMDs!” don’t believe in that. This is gallows humor, grim laughter at being fed the same bullshit time and time again. It’s the by-product of burnout when the regime changes but the narrative remains the same.
What has happened in America (and globally) is that digital interfacing has removed all the nuance, non-verbal, and tonal clues that would clue others in that satire is not endorsement. It relies on the belief that the listener/reader is literate enough to understand that what is being offered is not meant to be taken at face value. It can be true that Saddam was a piece of shit and that it wasn’t America’s place to take him out under false pretenses. I wouldn’t shed a tear if the mango turd got sent to Hell (metaphorically, since I don’t believe in Hell), but I would still be perturbed if his ticket was checked by some foreign nation that I knew didn’t actually give a fuck about me and my community or what came next for us.

A few years ago, I would have agreed with that statement. But I've read people on lemmy unironically saying "Hitler was at least sorta right" and so I just can't really believe that anymore.

It's really strange. I believe war is bad and the ends don't justify the means, but the Iranian regime needs to be replaced. Both are true at the same time. There must have been a way to affect that change without violence, but I don't know what that way is.
Trump is terrible, but that doesn't make the Ayatollah good.

The US supported Saddam Hussein and put him in power- until they got tired of him, then they waged a war and lied about WMD (remember “underground mobile bunkers anyone?) then they found him hiding in a hole in the ground and just killed him. The US is a terrorist state. Love to see the US trillion dollar debt payments go intergalactic in scale. Can’t wait to see it fail even more as a country.
Please be advised that the dollar failing is inevitable, and entire US financial system is based on DEBT with one inevitable conclusion. World financial system, really, with tentacles everywhere on Earth.

IAEA made it quite clear that Iran was, in fact, producing highly enriched uranium. There's no other use for that than to make nukes
Ironically, IAEA reports also supported that Iraq was not doing so back in 2003.
They have the right to make nukes as much as anyone. Kinda surprised they didn't just buy some from North Korea to prevent all this.
It would prevent nothing of this. You need to deliver the nuke to the destination and USA is on the other side of the globe.

Ironically, attacking someone "preemptively" because you think they're about to develop nukes really just proves to those being attacked that they need nukes, because you won't respect their sovereignty without MAD. I think it's very clear to anyone with eyes and half a brain that the US+Israel wouldn't have attacked Iran if it could result in Tel Aviv being glassed. Thus, the only logical conclusion from Irans side must be that they need to work even harder to develop nukes if they want the US+Israel to stop bombing them "preemptively" once a year or so.

Hey now, we still might bomb Iraq too. At least one of the regime mouthpieces fudged and said Iraq instead of Iran already, so to prevent that from looking stupid, we will also bomb Iraq.

If an advanced civilization in the future figures out a way to scan the minds of all sentient beings and put them in an afterlife simulation, then it'll probably work like The Good Place after they fixed the issues with the system, and this guy would absolutely still be stuck in the purgatories, not yet a better person.
