Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

A robust primary to find the best possible candidate?

[–] Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world 44 points 1 week ago

No no! Let's shove a preselected candidate down everyone's throat and hope they hold their noses. That'll be good enough! Best out of 3!

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 41 points 1 week ago

Hey, how many other presidential candidates have made it to a general election while never earning a single primary delegate in their entire career?!

She's a once in a generation candidate!

She's an idiot to think her loss to a convict and rapist was anyone's fault but her own. She'll have even less of a chance against any reasonable candidate.

"I bet you won't vote for a woman!"

"You wouldn't vote for THAT guy over a woman would you?!"

Go home and stay there, you are not wanted, your fight is done.

You lost and you can never be what this world and country needs right now.

Fuck Newsome too.

I don't want centrist Republican playmates, I want progressive left scorched earth justice.

[–] Furbag@lemmy.world 61 points 1 week ago

If you lose to Donald Trump, you are literally unelectable.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 50 points 1 week ago

In order to win it requires you to fuck off somewhere else.

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 50 points 1 week ago

NO.

GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM NATIONAL POLITICS.

[–] weaselsrippedmyflesh@piefed.social 40 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I'd say Democrats never learn from their mistakes, but there probably won't even be a 2028 election.

[–] bigfish@lemmy.dbzer0.com 25 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They don't. Or they'd start reading the room and actually start pushing an actual "change agent". They're too stuck on running people whose whole ethos is "if only things were how they had been back in the 90s" (when DNC had power). Was a great time for them, but since Regan, everything's been getting shittier for everyone not in the political or donor class. They need to run a FDR not a Biden.

I know what it requires

Do you? You were happy to fund Bibi's genocide in Gaza, and it lost you the election. You moved to the right, and it lost you the election. You wouldn't distance yourself from Biden, and it lost you the election.

Take the hint.

For the love of god fuck off. Nobody is going to vote for you. This would all but guarantee another republican win even after all of this

Kamala and I have one more thing in common: We have the same exact chance of being elected President in 2028.

The only people I'm interested in voting for are those currently pushing back against the regime. Beyond a few tweets or comments, she hasn't even tried.

[–] Vupware@lemmy.zip 20 points 1 week ago

She vanished off the face of the earth post-election, only to come back with a book to peddle. Now she wants to run again? Fuck off!!!!

[–] crystalmerchant@lemmy.world 26 points 1 week ago

Dude read the room

Kamala. Exit the echo chamber. Read the room. We need change, not a return to the status quo that gave us Trump 2.0. Don't be an opportunist.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"I know what it requires".

I refer you to Sun Tzu: One may know how to conquer but not be able to do so.

Given by her parties recent rulings on how to deal with AIPAC, I don't believe anyone in that party knows what it requires.

[–] thatradomguy@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago

It requires not supporting Israel. Have you thought about that?

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago (4 children)

She knows it requires her to hoover up a bunch of votes, then back out before Super Tuesday to endorse Gavin

The epitome of being willing to burn the world down just to keep yourself in the spotlight. Well, actually, I guess the person she lost to is the epitome of that....

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Its fine, she has zero chance of winning a primary.
