Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

“Secretary Hegseth, along with millions of Americans, is a proud Christian,” Pentagon Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson previously told The Independent.

Isn't pride a sin? Isn't it, in fact, one of the big seven?

"Don't bother me with details!"

[–] _stranger_@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The dude is 9001% deadly sins by volume. He's like a TARDIS on the inside, but it's all storage space for evil.

[–] Zink@programming.dev 1 points 3 days ago

He's over 9000!

... percent evil moron.

[–] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago (2 children)

This is a common misconception. The Bible doesn't actually mention the seven deadly sins anywhere in it.

[–] Holytimes@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 days ago

They don't read the Bible so that doesn't matter!

[–] ArtVandelay@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

To expand on this, the creation of the list of the seven are mostly attributed to Pope Gregory I, and the popularization of that list was mainly through Dante's Divine comedy where sinners are uniquely punished for their sins, and most of those correspond to one of the seven deadly ones. There are nine circles of hell though.

It "goeth before a fall." I hope that fall is soon.

We need the Satanic Temple to come in and lead a prayer. Watch those overtly Christian emails suddenly dry up in a flash of separation of church and state.

[–] SayJess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 4 days ago

They’ll twist and frame it so that they can specify that Christianity is the implied religion, and that demons are trying to corrupt the government. Remember: The Trump admin proudly flaunts their unaccountability.

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 39 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Wow good thing everyone completely ignored all the warnings about the psychotic theocratic bullshit that we tried to warn them that this regime was going to push

[–] marxismtomorrow@lemmy.today 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Approximately 60% of US adults decided that this was the correct administration to represent the US; and realistically most people can see that the Trump admin represents the US truthfully and perfectly.

This is simply the US laid bare with less hypocrisy.

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Yep

Those who didn't vote against it were perfectly happy to have it happen

They just want to claim a moral high ground that they don't deserve

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 88 points 5 days ago (1 children)

All of which are clear 1st amendment violations.

There was a local McDonald's that would play worship music literally all the time. I felt bad for those employees.

[–] redsand@infosec.pub 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

That's the kind of thing a call or email to corprate ends

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 7 points 4 days ago (3 children)

Does it? McDonalds is franchised, that might just be one of the things not specified in the franchise agreement.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

you could email corporate though to say you will not be purchasing any McChickens due to a negative experience you had at location #

[–] brbposting@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 days ago

Do you have to agree to binding arbitration to use their contact form?

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

I’m sure that’s a common way for McDonalds to add yet more rules to their franchisee agreement

[–] redsand@infosec.pub 1 points 4 days ago

I don't know for McDonald's but in general they don't like fielding complaints

That is absolutely normal for any retail business between October and December.

Anyone remember Matthew 4:1-11, where Satan quotes Psalm 91 to tempt Jesus, highlighting that the devil is capable of quoting scripture to suit his/her/its own purpose?

[–] Klowner@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago

Oh yeah! The part where Satan offers Jesus power over the kingdoms of the world and Jesus turns it down?

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

May the lord open.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago (1 children)

wtf, have they met a constitutional human right they haven’t violated?

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, the 14fh Amendment, Sec 3. That's the one that says that anyone who has participated in an Insurrection is ineligible to hold office. Trump fits the description perfectly, but not one Democrats has ever suggested that it be used to keep him out of office, even though it was written precisely for psychopaths like him.

Because the dems are also the enemy of the people.

[–] GuyFawkesV@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I mean it happened in Gilead didn’t it? Another example of life imitating art?

[–] NottaLottaOcelot@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Margaret Atwood has penned so many novels that don’t feel as much fictional as predictive anymore. Even aspects of Oryx and Crake don’t feel crazy as we head towards greater genetic capability and a food shortage.

I’ve also recently been reading Brave New World as I kept hearing how it was ringing true lately. It was written in the 1920s long before genetics were understood, so the science is inaccurate and there are some fairly offensive scenes by today’s standards. However, the main message does seem relevant - I would not be surprised if we were headed towards a world of class-based eugenics with punishments for not following the cultural expectations.

[–] GuyFawkesV@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

After you finish BNW it was also made into a limited series on one of the streaming services - Prime or Paramount+ I think. It had been forever since I read it but I think it was generally accurate.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 5 points 4 days ago

that'll tend to happen as long as art is based on life

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Soon it will be required church attendance, then maybe a signed declaration of faith.

When these MAGAumos get their Christian Nation, I hope I can be there to see them cry, when they figure out they can't even get softcore anymore.

[–] NottaLottaOcelot@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 days ago

What’s weird is that they claim so loudly to be Christian, yet they don’t exemplify any of the teachings of Jesus Christ like humility, mercy, caring for others, and avoidance of greed.

They made a whole “efficiency department” just to avoid paying a red cent to help the poor, the sick, or those affected by natural disasters. They have started faith based wars when tolerance is what their religion preaches.

These people have picked a few lines out of the bible as a front as they to try to steer the country in the direction that pays them the most money.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago

Trump made deals and he now gets a cut of the weekly donations. He's gotta puff that shit up now because there is coin involved.
