Counter-Strike 1.6 days, getting kicked for using an aimbot when you're not using an aimbot.

[–] Widdershins@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Using a spot of white out on the CRT screen instead of the scope of the railgun

[–] luthis@lemmy.nz 2 points 3 days ago

I used bluetack, you can get it real small and it doesn't damage the screen

Folks will never know the taste of that type of rage sauce anymore. That shit is delicious.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 5 points 4 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Ha! I got that during a particularly caffeinated Quake2 match filled with some lucky hits.

[–] Matty_r@programming.dev 2 points 3 days ago

I miss the movement from 1.6, it was so much snappier. CS2 is definitely an improvement though.

[–] AstralPath@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 days ago

Once in my life I achieved this feat. Never again. Was in a casual lobby of all places too hahaha

[–] RaoulDuke25@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 days ago

Being a sellout. Was an insult growing up. Now people strive for it.

[–] Chippys_mittens@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

That's a good one.

Any time I get called a freak. I'm a sideshow performer and was on the Coney Island circuit, that's literally just what we call ourselves. I have shirts that say that

[–] Chippys_mittens@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Lmao that's fantastic

[–] Ep1cFac3pa1m@lemmy.world 34 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

I used to love getting called a hacker when I played ~~CoD 2 Modern Warfare~~ CoD: Modern Warfare 2.

[–] Stormy@thelemmy.club 3 points 4 days ago

Desert eagle on afgan, got me called that and hacked.

Gosh, I miss that game. The recent remake was such a let down.

I was accused of plagerism 3 times on big projects in school because "there is no way you wrote this level of work". The first time I only "got a way with it" because as he read more the teacher realized that these werent paragraphs but instead multiline run on sentences.

Once I got better at that though I actually failed those classes because they could believe it (made up for them quick no sweat off my back now). I really felt like "damn thanks but please can I just keep a passing grade instead".

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

Plagiarism 👍

[–] CarterH739@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I feel like I've read this response somewhere before...

[–] Hisse@programming.dev 1 points 2 days ago

Its me, I wrote it

[–] lowspeedchase@lemmy.dbzer0.com 29 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

"You're too extra" etc - damn right I am

"Bleeding heart liberal" etc - damn right I am

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 13 points 4 days ago

Seems like the reverse of what they are asking but along those lines I have been called a boy scout. To me thats like. So the insult for superman. alrighty.

[–] frank@sopuli.xyz 26 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Maybe things along the lines of "nerd"?

[–] Chippys_mittens@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Yeah that's fair. I use it sometimes but typically in a silly way.

[–] Pika@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Same, if I say nerd it's always strictly meant to be playful, teasing or as as a description, not meant to be insulting

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago (2 children)

"You're so quiet."

Yeah I learned to be okay with silence and I don't need to constantly run my mouth to drown out the horrors inside my own mind.

[–] blarghly@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

That's not an insult. It's an observation.

[–] Jarlsburg@lemmy.world 16 points 4 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

I posted my first win of Enter the Gungeon on the relevant subreddit and it people were convinced I was cheating/lying because I had low max hp (meaning I didn't flawless victory the minibosses) and I was given a warning and the post was deleted by the mods.

Extra one: I used to have to walk past a clinical trial facility that would commonly have people stay for 2 weeks or so to be monitored while they were part of the trial. You weren't allowed to smoke but people would always be out in their little yard asking for cigarettes. As I was turning the corner one day there were three guys watching for someone to bum one off of and one saw me and said, "Aww fuck he looks healthy as HELL!" Not really an insult but was said in legitimate anger and I am still riding that compliment.

[–] olafurp@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Respect for the Enter the Gungeon run, it doesn't sound crazy to me since I never became consistent with not getting hit on level 1 bosses. Also getting a medical tent in a run, buying some hearts and getting drops is enough to maintain the health often.

[–] Jarlsburg@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

It really wasn't that hard. I had the upgraded Ser Junken that can revive you and the turtle pet I believe? I was using the chicken gun and was able to just blast through the dragon.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 8 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

you eat like a horse. yea the steroids thing is wierd, some people take offense to it, even if they are on it or trying to downplay it, never heard of using it as a complement. i never heard of a natural person ever uses it as a complement.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

"Well bless your heart."

Granted, if you use that phrase regularly / come from a dialect where that's common, you'll probably understand that that's an insult, but if you don't, you very well may think its a genuine compliment.

[–] Chippys_mittens@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Yeah I've met enough 50 year old women from the south to understand.

[–] Janx@piefed.social 10 points 4 days ago

Being called "sweaty" or a "try-hard" in online games. Like, I'm sorry; I love this game so I play it a lot and got pretty good! It's especially funny when they say that in a game with optional PvP multiplayer like a Souls-like or something...

I like it when they call me punk

[–] Crackhappy@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

You look like a bag of cats got rearranged into a lion.

[–] Chippys_mittens@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

That's actually sick as hell.

[–] a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

That's a rather silly take. I'm perfectly fine with people mistaking me for being on gear.

I've worked hard for it.

[–] Chippys_mittens@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Yes, exactly.

[–] luthis@lemmy.nz 3 points 4 days ago (2 children)

You look like your dad was a chef for sharks

[–] neo2478@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 days ago

I don't understand this as either a compliment or an insult.

[–] CybranM@feddit.nu 1 points 3 days ago

What is this meant to imply?
