That escalated quickly

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 16 points 12 hours ago

You know your town is going to shit when you can't even finish your baked mostaccioli because some asshole decided to stab his brother 5 feet away from you.

[–] gigastasio@sh.itjust.works 106 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

Well did the restaurant murder the guy? Because if not that’s bullshit.

[–] prime_number_314159@lemmy.world 75 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

The restaurant didn't murder the guy, but the reviewer requested a seat in the non-murdering section, so seating him right next to it loses a star.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 29 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

I mean, it's just like the 1980s. You could request to sit in the non-smoking section, but let's be real, the whole building smelled of smoke no matter how far away you sat. Same thing here. You're going to catch a bit of second hand murder viewing. That's just how it goes sometimes.

but how large is the splash zone?

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 1 points 47 minutes ago

Have you ever seen a Gallagher show? No? Don't bother. It's often racist bullshit, but for some reason he then hits a watermellon with a hammer to splash the audience.

No, I'm not leaving out context. Racist joke, hits watermellon, big laughs. He was popular in the 80s with the boomers. It was as stupid as it sounds, but it does give you a good idea how big the splash zone would be.

Makes me miss Shoney's back in the day.

[–] sangriaferret@sh.itjust.works 3 points 7 hours ago

Man, I saw so many great murders in that place.

I was going to try to argue that the restaurant is responsible for everything that happens in it but that would be bullshit. In a court of law, the restaraunt wouldn't be held responsible. At most, their responsibility is to kick the guy out and maybe call police if they had reason to suspect he'd commit violence. If it was out of the blue and they had no way of knowing it would happen, it's not their responsibility

Dinner and a show?

5 stars.

[–] diffaldo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 12 hours ago

How about 7? 👁️

[–] otacon239@lemmy.world 55 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

That’s worth tipping for in a Waffle House considering you weren’t directly involved in the murder.

[–] Rivermoonwolf@lemmy.world 22 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

Worked in a Waffle House 28 years ago. Never had a murder, but did have a rape, beating, two football fan crashouts and a drunk guy yelling at the menu for being disrespectful to his invisible wife. Gods I will never unsee any of that. Worse, I never got tipped. Layer moved to a more dangerous gig : Steak N Shake cook.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 15 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

a drunk guy yelling at the menu for being disrespectful to his invisible wife

God I hope this was captured by all angles from peoples cell phones, and uploaded to youtube.

[–] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

The only things people were doing with their cell phones was making calls, maybe a couple texts if you could afford it, and making those custom ring tones that Motorola let you do.

[–] charonn0@startrek.website 12 points 12 hours ago

Don't forget the Snake game.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 1 points 10 hours ago

Yeah, I wanna know more about that one

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 8 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

How are you handling the adjustment to life on the outside?

if you can really call it life

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 8 points 16 hours ago

Plus it's just the neighborly thing to do. They have to clean up the body, after all.

[–] beveradb@sh.itjust.works 18 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago) (2 children)

Murdered beside you? ...Did you do the murder, Cormac?

[–] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 20 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

"A man was murdered beside me during my meal."

"It was you! You murdered your dining companion!"

"That doesn't change the facts."

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 5 points 10 hours ago

Phoebe: my mom was killed by a drug dealer

Monica: your mom killed herself

Phoebe: she was a drug dealer

[–] lugal@sopuli.xyz 3 points 9 hours ago
[–] faqtimaan@lemmy.wtf 11 points 13 hours ago

Well nobody is appreciating the killer for atleast finishing him his meal.

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 28 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

I hate it when that happens...

[–] TotallyNotSpezUpload@startrek.website 27 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

Back when I was living in Dublin, a politician stabbed a junkie to death in a local chipper using a big ass kitchen knife. Yes, you read that right. The politician murdered the drug addict, not the other way around.

#JustDublinThings 🤷‍♀️

[–] AlligatorBlizzard@sh.itjust.works 32 points 16 hours ago

That's not too odd, but usually the murder weapon is legislation.

[–] khannie@lemmy.world 7 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Was that politician the gangster who ran for office but was never elected? I don't remember hearing about this.

[–] TotallyNotSpezUpload@startrek.website 11 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago) (2 children)

No, it was a low level local politician, don't remember his name. It's been quite a while since it happened. But he was jailed for life.

EDIT: This was in North Strand about ~12-15 years ago? I was on my way to work and the Guards were everywhere securing the area.

[–] kungen@feddit.nu 3 points 14 hours ago (1 children)
[–] TotallyNotSpezUpload@startrek.website 5 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Nah, can't be, it was a politician, not a former soldier. The victim had 2 very young children (defo under the age of 10 back when it happened). Beats me.

[–] kungen@feddit.nu 6 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Damn, lots of people getting stabbed outside of chippers I guess 💀

That's Dublin Northside for you, I guess? 😅

And it was inside the chippy shop. That gobshite got into a verbal argument with the poor fella, went back home, grabbed the biggest knife from the kitchen, went back and just finished the job. I really do feel sorry for that poor man and his family.

Then again, nothing surprises me anymore when it comes down to Dublin. I once went home after work and there were a bunch of lads soaping up and washing their horse at a petrol station. D3 madness forever! ^^

[–] khannie@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

Mental. That one just whizzed on by me I think.

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 11 points 16 hours ago

Was the food good though?

[–] lugal@sopuli.xyz 1 points 9 hours ago

At least it wasn't raining

[–] blimthepixie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 17 hours ago

At least it didn't happen before the check back
