Moderator Guidelines
Moderator Guidelines
- Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
- Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
- When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
- Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
- Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
- Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
- Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
- Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
- Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
- Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
- Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
- Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
- First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
- Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
- No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
- Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
- Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
Context, as usual, is everything.
[laughs in pansexual]
7 guys. Two were women, the rest were non binary. 1 pener.
Like, 4 women. I love those guys.

Context matters

It doesn't matter if I think it's gender neutral, if someone asks me not to use it for them, I stop. Easy
OP, if you want to fuck, just say so.
You're right, we should double down and use guy more often for everyone, to make sure it's gender neutral. Same with dude.
Zero, no matter how you define it.
Easy
Zero
wouldn't you like to know :3
Yeah, envy is a terrible thing. 😆
This is where growing up in the west has an advantage. We just say y'all. Covers all bases
So, how many y'all have you had sex with?
I didn’t grow up saying y’all but I trained myself to use it when I realized some people were uncomfortable with guys. Unfortunately a lot of people would rather argue about it than make a simple change to their vocabulary.
I like to tell my southern friends how much I like y'all beacause it is gender neutral and inclusive!
standard english needs second person plural
That’s none of my business! How many men I’ve slept with is a number that even I don’t know!
Words have different meanings depending on context.
If the context is "gender may matter functionally' guy is probably representing as men guy.
If your gender shouldn't matter it is gender neutral.
I think you're reading a smidge too much into a shitpost I found on a forum
just like with "it's just a joke bro", shitposts still have meaning.
Shitposts are the result, and consequently, a mirror, of the culture that produced them. Decoupled from both personal ownership and repercussions, they are the purest form of satire, and should be taken extremely seriously.
Hey, if you're not reading too much into shit posts, are you really living?
Fair comment :)
The word "set" has 430 different definitions in the OED. I'm sure "guys" can manage 2.
Yeah? How many sets did you fuck??
Just one, the universal set
Rookie game. Trying banging the set of all sets including itself.
What would you even call such a set? I guess it would be some kind of... universal set or something? 😁
Dang. Great name game.
Don't talk about my mother that way
Don't talk to your new stepdad that way
You wouldn’t know it, it subscribes to another theorem.
this
Could a set of all sets fuck itself?
Could be one more, if you're asking.
Poster is not a guy!
I suppose that depends on if you agree with the premise of the top caption.
My husband and I call each other “bro” (important: we both only have sisters, so there’s no mental comparison to an actual sibling), my sisters and I call each other “dude” and “guys,” and I feel very uncomfortable whenever anyone says the word “dudette,” but it’s still really easy to just not use group terms that others ask you not to.
One day
Idk ive never had sex :3
I lost count
I didn't know I was supposed to keep track, but a lot!!
I’ve never had sexual relations with a flammable manikin meant to be burnt in the town square to commemorate the failure of the gun powder plot.
What you’ve never heard of the town guy? The traditional effigy burnt during celebrations on the 5th of November?
What an oddly specific thing to say.
You wanna increase the count? ;)
only two. I know, rookie numbers, but I don't like engaging in casual sex.
Not that many, about 6.
Simple, just use "dudes" instead of guys
