This is becoming so absurd. I'm starting to suspect that they are all hard core undercover communists and are actively trying to make the revolution happen by doing the dumbest possible thing while pretending to be republicans.

I call that the ole Faux Nicholas & Wilhelm Gambit .

I am getting "low T energy" from this guy

Let me guess, Pistol Pete is going to do the assessments personally, by cupping the balls of only the most manly of soldiers, because he can judge the amount of testosterone by the weight.

RFK, Jr showed them how to do it, he's been doing it all his life, and they all had a hilarious night in the Oval Office, practicing on each other. Stephen "PeeWee Himmler" Miller had the tiniest balls, and cried about it. It was hilarious.

Good times, good times...

[–] CADmonkey@lemmy.world 7 points 11 hours ago

I can't prove you wrong, so I have decided that this is what really happened.

[–] Sp00kyB00k@lemmy.world 31 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

Why are they so enormously homoerotic? If you want to suck a dick, go for it. Grindr is a thing.

So either get railed or fuck your bottoms until they are in heaven.

But god fucking damn it, stop screwing with the world.

[–] Dozzi92@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

The military, at least the Marine Corps, was the gayest place I've ever been. Homoeroticism runs rampant.

That being said, testing for low T is a big what we to me. I'd say that falls under medical care, and they're providing it, so good.

[–] MrShankles@lemmy.world 4 points 11 hours ago

Oh, they know very intimately how to use Grindr... they're just awful people

Testosterone isn't like... You need a certain level to be a real man or something.

Hormones are very complex but here is something.

Low status males have more testosterone.

Men who have children have lower testosterone.

It isn't as simple as more=better.

It likely is, in part, related to aggression when too high.

Lower levels as men get older doesn't really seem to be a problem except advertising tells men it means they aren't good enough anymore and definitely need to buy their products to increase it.

As a feminist I am equally appalled at the attack on men's bodies as those on women.

I think there has been this big shift to constantly tell men there is something wrong with them and to sell them a fix.

It's disgusting.

I watch TV sometimes (antenna, and mostly Xena or x-files) in the evening and it's non stop erectile dysfunction medication commercials or hair loss. Or testosterone boosting supplements.

Jesus , leave men alone. They have enough shit to worry about without making them insecure about existing. The commercials are so dystopian from my female perspective.

Idk how they make men feel but nothing good.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 2 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

Idk how they make men feel but nothing good.

They make us feel bad about ourselves. That's why they work. They're selling the "fix". It's the same playbook marketing people have been using against women since the beginning of advertising.

[–] dustyData@lemmy.world 5 points 10 hours ago

I always find it funny the reactions of men who seek hair loss treatment with a real medical service and learn that they're most likely going bald because genetically they have way too much testosterone.

Double funnies when conservatives have to face the fact that the treatment for their bald head is hormone therapy and the irony of taking hormone blockers for gender affirming therapy never crosses their mind..

[–] Supercrunchy@programming.dev 3 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

As a men, I love your answer. I would upvote it 100 times if I could.

The society is always pushing the ideal of men that is bold, strong, independent, commandeering, never showing weakness. It creates a culture of toxic masculinity and deep insecurities that must be kept hidden, otherwise you are admitting to being weak and thus a lesser man. IMHO it' also a big contributor to the loneliness epidemic and incels existing.

As you said, it's similar to the problem of the completely unrealistic woman bodies shown in advertisement. It's unreachable by definition.

If you are a man, be kind, be open to others and be vulnerable. You are enough as you are, you'll live more happily if you stop chasing whatever others call "perfection", and start living your life as yourself. You are the strong one for fighting against those deeply unhealthy ideals, instead of succumbing to it.

I really support femnism too: the right of being treated as a valid person, equal to everyone else, should apply to all. Men and women alike.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

Advertising has a long history of creating problems to sell you a solution. But it's just so insidious nowadays. And it seems to be targeting people at a deeper level.

These ED commercials are just so awful.

Wife ignoring you? Men at work not respecting you? Feel lonely? Also women are definitely judging you. They all KNOW you are inadequate.

It's probably because you can't produce an erection for 4 hours straight at the snap of your fingers.

They don't care that this causes cultural and society problems. They just want money.

[–] CADmonkey@lemmy.world 3 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Happily married man here. Those commercials are silly, but they're so constant that they get annoying. But someome must be giving them money if they are buying tv ads.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

They have to be making a ton of money or those commercial spots are selling cheap. Idk.

There is a blue chew commercial at almost every single commercial break. Multiple versions too.

Low status males have more testosterone.

Getting some strong Andrew Tate's vibes here

Isn’t this Gender affirming care? /s

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

HRT is fundamental enough to just be considered healthcare - lots of people do it to address real symptoms, regardless of their gender identity.

I honestly have trouble complaining about this. Screening is voluntary and they are offering treatment as well.

I know Kegsbreath will only approve it because GRAH! ALPHA MALE! but I’ll consider it a case of a broken clock being right twice a day.

[–] atopi@piefed.blahaj.zone 7 points 11 hours ago

The defense department plans to offer testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) to any service members who show low levels of the hormone.

Is the /s necessary?

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 98 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

It's a bunch of men about to find out that testosterone isn't that important, or about to become very neurotic and insecure about it.

Personally I think we should also test their blood flow responses when shown certain images, and do Kinsey scale testing as well.

Really shock them with some self-knowledge and hate for governments overstepping their boundaries.

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 23 points 1 day ago (6 children)

I am almost entirely hairless below my neck and have a full head of hair in my mid 40s.

I am probably on the low end of the testosterone scale.

I'm also 5'6".

I never let it stop me from being an absolute horn dog and doing pretty darn well if I do say so myself.

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Don’t assume testosterone levels actually map easily to stereotypical traits like that.

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 1 points 5 hours ago

well I mean it as synecdoche for testosterone + alpha-5 reductase = DHT which can affect hair production in many men.

[–] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 10 points 1 day ago

Standing in line to eat the same food, giving your all to protect/help your comrades when they are vulnerable and can't fight for themselves, uniforms, sacrificing your individuality for the greater good.

Every Army ever is communism.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 day ago

The US military is the most socialist organization in that country.

There's a straightforward explanation for this.

Pete Hegseth is a fucking idiot.

My opinion is it’s gayforward projection.

I think this is an attempt to further justify eliminating senior military that oppose unlawful orders. You make less T as you age. Plenty of 30 year old, lead brained, country bumpkin dumbfuck MAGAts in entry level officer positions they can randomly make generals.

Imagine paying your tax for that.

[–] uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone 24 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I've learned recently that I'm low-T and have had indicative symptoms all my life, and it may even have factored into my major depression.

And though my endocrinologist recommends replacement therapy, I'm genuinely afraid I'll turn into Pete Hegseth.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has announced a new Pentagon initiative mandating annual testosterone screenings for all military service members aged 30 and older to maintain a "tactical advantage." Troops who test low will be offered voluntary testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), a move the Pentagon chief framed as keeping the military on the "leading edge of lethality" while nicknaming the Pentagon "The High-T Department of War."

[–] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 71 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

A 30 year old service member has over a decade of experience. This is orders of magnitude more valuable and important than whatever pseudo science bullshit this alcohol-brained dumbass is pushing there.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 22 points 1 day ago

I'm guessing a 30 year old service member is far less likely to be in an active combat role (special forces aside) and more likely to be doing administration, leadership, teaching, logistics, etc.

You know, roles where keeping a cool head is especially important.

[–] solrize@lemmy.ml 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I thought TRT messes up your body's ability to produce testosterone naturally. Not good.

Another grift. Of course they're gonna partner with a specific pharma company.

[–] CuddlyCassowary@lemmy.world 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

For women service members too?

[–] michaelalf@lemmy.world 10 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago) (1 children)

Women will be phased out of the military. Men only.
Manly, high T men.
Strong, manly, sexy — uhhh...

[–] CuddlyCassowary@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

Stupid sexy Flanders.
