Putting aside all of the false positives and mission creep e.g. used on unruly 3rd graders, let's imagine a real-world scenario where a shooter comes prepared with goggles and these drones simply blind every student in their immediate vicinity.
Who's gonna be liable for those deaths?
Like they need to see in order to fire indiscriminately into a screaming crowd.

Human guards would be more effective than the drone at stopping an active shooter; but they won’t stop active shooters from being active in the first place.
For that you need to attack the actual problems.

To be fair, according to the article these drones are remote piloted, not AI controlled. So they probably won't function because rent-a-cop Stu is taking a three hour long lunch break at the stripclub or passed out drunk under his desk.
The next school shooters will just carry an extra melee weapon to swat down the drones.
I mean they already are carrying a range weapon. Not that hard to shoot down a drone. A slow moving janky drone. That cost 2mil.
