Why would anyone admit this
News
Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.
After a fifth of whiskey you admit everything.
You can count the number made and used reasonably accurately, it's not a secret for large missiles. They're inherently easier to see.
Maybe it's a ruse and counter intelligence.
these 'sources' might be long serving people from the military frustrated with the new leadership.
there is still a few people from before the trump administration in the higher up military aparatus not yet fired and replaced by some cousin or something who still have contacts to established journalist like this.
I understand they might be frustrated, but why would you say that we dont have long range precision missiles to hit you with if you attacked the US right now?
maybe to discourage the public from being pro war because it wouldn't be a good idea
Because any enemy would have a semi accurate estimate of how many missiles we would have. When you've blown past the amount of missiles you could possibly store in all your warehouses on a given base physics is ratting you out.
If your enemy knows, but your own public does not... I mean at some point you have to say something.
That doesn't mean they're defenseless. This is far from the only long range missiles they have.
p r o p a g a n d a
Yeah, there's just no way this could be true, and the internet is considered another theater of war. I wouldn't take any reports like this at face value.
Backward propaganda?
"The US is so weak right now! We just totally botched this conflict! We haven't accomplished anything and now we're out of munitions... oh man what a mess!"
What would be the point of saying that deliberately?
Admittedly, I don't know what the reason is, but a more plausible explanation to me would be if it's simply not the kind of thing they can hide.
What would be the point of saying that deliberately?
Propaganda may serve other purposes than politically ones.
The military industrial complex for example will be quite happy when people believe that the US really needs to increase their military spending.
"So this justifies our need for more military spending and joining together with Israel's military"
Just spit balling, but I could see this as a reason for the US to be leaking this info intentionally.
Alright, yeah that makes some sense. Heh, I just needed a more logical motive.
Not that I believe anything the government says anymore, but a shitty reading of Sun Tzu is “pretend to be weak when you are strong, pretend to be strong when you are weak.”
Adnagaporp 👍
I had a propaganda at your mum lol
To drum up a call for more money.
The sources interviewed for this story spoke on the condition of anonymity.
Ok. So we’d probably best not tell anyone then. That could be interesting information to, you know, enemies and stuff.
Good. Maybe they will stop killing people now?
Nope.
Cluster bombs, white phosphor, maybe a few "tactical" nukes.
All out of precision means they don't have to answer about their aim when the hospitals and schools start blowing up.
Bingo. This is the reason, and it's fairly transparent imo.
They're laying down the pathetically depressing (in all connotations) path to wring their hands and start to justify atrocities with the economy (uh, even further, that is):
"We had to defend ourselves and the Iranians forced our hands, it would have cost too much to fabricate new precision munitions and risked Jim-Bob's farm, hell, all of our livelihoods".
(Jim-Bob here being a "poor farmer" plant in the discourse to move Middle America. In reality, Jim-Bob is in Wisconsin two weeks out of the year, lives in a NY penthouse, and most of his money doesn't come from his multi-state AG operation but from the kickbacks and money laundering of subsidies).
I guess that's one way to adapt your forces to the incoming subservience of the puppets-turned-would-be-puppeteers. Gotta have the Iowa cornfield boys used to the ways of 3000 year old promises.
They can pivot the excuses, blame the companies that make them for being slow in building more. "We had to use something, all we had left were nukes. Not OUR fault."
Good to know. Share that info. Invite an attack on U.S. soil. Use that event to try and suspend elections. Which would be totally unconstitutional because elections happen at the state level, but look at all the amazing unconstitutional things this administration has done already!
