I hate being a housewife. Make the beds, wash the dishes, cook dinner, and do the laundry. Then six months go by and you have to do it all over again.

I don't get it. Was she known for being home once every 6 months?
It was a joke she made for comedy by making the frequency absurdly infrequent. .
This is my favorite version of this meme:

Wait, who doesn't love pissin'?
Get two dishwashers and as dishes get dirty they migrate from one to the other. Never put them into or take them out of another useless non-washing cabinet again.
Good idea.
Make the dish cabinet ANOTHER dishwasher.
Exactly! It is so dumb that we're schlepping dishes into useless cabinets.
Cabinets where they get dusty.
This is a joke, but not really. For what, under $10,000 can be free of putting dishes away forever.... Might literally do this with 3-4 dishwashers. Any actual downside?
Mostly just need to figure out the plumbing and power. And running multiple at the same time might cause water pressure issues, but that would only be while they are filling/rinsing. There is also associated maintenance costs (would be spread out over multiple machines, so probably a wash (ha)).
Whenever "what's your favorite technology" comes up, I'm like, there's a magic box in my kitchen I can stuff full of dirty dishes and they're clean the next day. And you can tell by their reaction whether they grew up with a dishwasher, or if they were the dishwasher.
Then there are those of us who grew up with dishwashers but also with mothers who made us spotlessly clean all the dishes before putting them in the machine.
I don't know why I hate it but I'll let the sink fill with dishes because I dread unloading the dishwasher...a 90 second task that seems like it take 20 minutes and requires extrenuous effort.
One of the best things about my marriage is that for 85% of tasks, our preferences and distastes compliment. Unloading the dishwasher and putting clothes away for me is a matter of 3-5 business days. My wife loves folding laundry and doesn't mind putting away dishes. I have no problems loading the dishwasher or sorting dirty laundry/starting the machine. Its pretty great that it works out that way.
We both suck at planning and deciding what to make for dinner though.
Have a dishwasher. I enjoy emptying and filling it up as its one of the few moments I get to catch up on podcasts.
Life is just one big, long, futile fight against the ever-increasing entropy of an inevitably doomed universe and the best we can hope for is to carve out some sort of fleeting happiness and meaning in our short lives before they're over.
Sorry, i already had my existential crisis for today.
It’s like you’re in my head… while I’m washing more fucking dishes.
its just dishes man
That's why I just eat off my shirt. Already have to wash it so 2 for 1. And I don't have to worry about something falling on my shirt, it's great peace of mind.
This is why I also eat off of your shirt. I assume you're going to wash it at some point anyways, so it's not like I'm making any more work for anyone. And you should be happy to know that your work is going even farther than you realized!
Dishes and laundry, man
Dishes and laundry man
The superhero we need, but not the one we deserve
Laundry is easy, slap it into the washing machine and throw some detergent in then walk away till it's done. Once it's done, slap it into the dryer with a dryer sheet and clean out the lint then wait for it to be done. Ez-pz. Helps I dont give a shit about folding my clothes though, I just use two separate laundry baskets, one for clean and the other for dirty, like the degenerate that I am.
Dishes though. Fuck me I hate doing them, even if you have a machine to do it. If you forget (or your roommate and brother 😡) to rinse your dishes off and just throw it into the sink then you gotta either let em soak or scrub them off with hot water and a scrubby. At that point you may as well not even bother with the god damn machine.
I'm generally good about it, not always, but both my roommate and brother don't give af despite me bitching at them to at least rinse their shit off after using a dish.
Fuck dishes.
Laundry is easy, slap it into the washing machine and throw some detergent in then walk away till it’s done.
Lol my mom bought a new washing machine a couple of years ago, then spent hours and hours watching it run and taking notes (like how full it got with water, how long each cycle took etc.). She tried out the "bedclothes" setting and almost called 911 because the tub actually fills up with water for that. Some real Beautiful Mind shit.
yeah i used to buy paper plates all the time for that reason. they stopped making them here so now i buy more dishwasher pods
Dusting is the one that pisses me off. I don't know how people manage to keep a big ass house dust free; it's a long-ass chore even in my tiny apartment.
I have a big house, I replace the AC/Heating air filters very often and have a roomba that vacuums daily.
It's not dust free, but you can get away with only dealing with it on a monthly basis
Dishes you may have to do, but remember, it doesn’t get any dirtier after 3 years.
Hah, a long time ago I tried to avoid building up a bunch of dirty dishes by having just one of each (one plate, one cup, one fork, etc.) but instead of washing those I ended up re-using them without washing. I know a person who is unashamed to use disposable dishes for everything and I don't know if that's degradation or liberation.
Did you know that rats will leave your dishes spotless? That's the real life hack here.
I use wooden plates and bowls. You just rinse them off and dry them with a paper towel, no temptation to throw them in a dishwasher (which I don't have anyway).
Also the laundry (folding it specifically).
Epic waste of time.
Podasts and music make dishes disappear
I simplified it. I make virtually the same two meals every day, and I use the same skillet, utencils, bowl, etc. every day. So, I just wash as I go. The sink always has the few items I use every day, but never gets full.
Here's everything I use every day:
In the sink:
Fork
Spoon
Sharp knife
Large bowl
Small bowl (I don't really need this, but it's habit now)
On the stove:
Skillet
Tongs
On the counter:
Coffee mug
Large metal insulated tumbler for cold drinks
Water glass for taking pills
I enjoy doing the dishes quite a bit, but my back doesn't. I hate being so freaking tall.
I don’t mind doing dishes (or anything else in the kitchen), it’s the laundry I fucking hate doing. Seriously, the absolute worst chore ever. My mother is the exact opposite, she genuinely enjoys doing laundry but hates dealing with the kitchen (except cooking, she loves to cook). So my dad always cleans the kitchen every night, I haven’t seen her clean the kitchen (or bathrooms actually either) since I’ve been alive. I’m trying to be similar, I try to always clean the kitchen every night so my wife doesn’t have to, because that’s her least favourite chore. Unfortunately her second least favourite chore is laundry, so we both struggle to get it done.
We need a dating app that matches people based on their favorite/least favorite domestic chores
So that's what they meant by "opposites attract"
So we're really Sisyphus dishposting today huh
Mowing for me, especially in the middle of summer. If only the HOA fees for a townhouse (without lawns) weren’t so expensive, I would’ve chosen that instead of a SFH.
