It's come up a few times in comments recently and I finally got time to mock one up, but I don't have enough content to fill the boxes.

What are some staple lemmy experiences that could go on a bingo card?

Note: this is for fun. Let's have some positive vibes to go with the negative ones since Lemmy itself is a mixed bag.

Double edit: Apologizes was not spelled like that. This is it but I'm still open to suggestions and edits!

Sounds like something a zionist would say.

Same with "genocider" (I don't know what cider has to do with it, I no longer drink alcohol)

Actual human responses, including real apologies at times when someone takes a comment the wrong way and then admits they did so. Never in all my years on the other platform did I see that happen.

[–] Wren@lemmy.today 9 points 2 days ago

That's true, it's encouraging to see and makes me more willing to apologize, too.

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

I’ve posted my share of bad takes, and ate my words and apologized. I’ve also seen quite a few others have similar bad times. But they’re temporary, we all grow, and we all improve from them.

It's hilarious how much hate the one person gets from doing something so trivial.

[–] CombatWombat@feddit.online 24 points 2 days ago (2 children)

idk I just kinda disassociated for a while and then this list was here

  • gossip about instances like social cliques
  • someone forgot to set the language on their post/comment
  • a poster has an obvious special interest
  • linux
  • obviously a human used ms paint here
  • thread takes an unexpected turn to horniness
  • lemming is surprised the rest of the fediverse exists
  • whimsy
  • someone wishes there was more niche content
  • federation lag
  • a wild mastodon/pixelfed user appears
  • beans
  • a commenter has clearly missed that they are responding to someone from a different country
  • a big chart/table of fedi statistics
  • a programmer is using a bunch of jargon for some reason
[–] riskable@programming.dev 7 points 2 days ago

I take exception to that programmer bullet! We always have reasonable conditionals for any and all jargon. There's actually an eponymous law about this, pointing out what happens when someone is wrong on the Internet. It's called Beckstrom's Law.

Sub-thread of a conversation of something unrelated becomes an open source software recommendations mini thread.

[–] riskable@programming.dev 9 points 2 days ago

I recommend Obsidian for keeping track of events like this 👍

  • Sketchy guy tells a one-sided story about how he got banned multiple times on Reddit.

  • Everyone in the comments showering him with love, trashing Reddit, and completely ignoring the huge red flag that there must be some fucking reason why that guy got banned multiple times.

Welcome to !reddit@lemmy.world.

[–] queerlilhayseed@piefed.blahaj.zone 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I think it would be a fun browser plugin, to see what all servers have comment representation in a thread.

Could also be fun to have a Bingo card serve for a limited time (like, a week), and players have to draw examples from that time frame to complete their cards. The free space is always someone from .ml defending the CCP.

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 2 points 1 day ago

Can't we set something like this up rather easily? Just create a new group or something? We could submit and vote on bingo hit suggestions or something and do a new one every week or whatever. Would be fun.

The words “Slop” and “Fascist”. At least for the 2024+ edition.

[–] Wren@lemmy.today 6 points 2 days ago

Getting called a fascist will be the free space. Slop is one I didn't have, though, that's a good one.
