Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Generally speaking, it's usually not wise to do what a rapist tells you to do. It doesn't stop their rapist tendencies.

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

But I thought Russia had "all of the cards" or whatever.

Business man trump's religion is 'money' and 'power'

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 3 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Trump's religion is the worship of Trump.

He's been singlularly ineffective at gaining wealth except by theft, and he is too stupid to wield power effectively.

[–] lemmy_outta_here@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

I think he has wielded power very effectively. You just misunderstood his objective: he never wanted to govern. He only ever wanted to enrich himself, his family, and his cronies.

[–] Greyghoster@aussie.zone 22 points 1 day ago

Zelensky listened to the US early on and left the petro alone. Big mistake as it may have ended the war by now if Russia didn’t have the petro dollars.

"Mr. Zelensky has to do one thing. He has to stop knocking out diesel fuel in Russia," Trump said. "Let him go after targets, but not diesel fuel, because he's causing a shortage of diesel."

Fucking idiot.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 7 points 11 hours ago

"Stop doing shit that actually hurts the enemy invading your country"

[–] ramble81@lemmy.zip 9 points 14 hours ago

“Mr. Putin has to do one thing. He has to withdraw from Ukraine….”

[–] lemmy_outta_here@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

Really. As if creating a shortage of diesel were an unintended consequence of attacking diesel infrastructure.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago

The idiot causing the diesel shortage blames someone else for the diesel shortage. Typical trump.

No, just controlling the narrative. He didn’t come up with that himself.

He is a very self-aware, stable genius.

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 105 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If Trump tells you to stop doing something, then you’re doing something right.

[–] WalrusDragonOnABike@reddthat.com 34 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Trump might actually be onto something with this one. If only there was someone who started a conflict this year that has disrupted crude supply whom it could have been given too earlier.

[–] CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago

Always projection.

[–] kukukese@lemmy.world 126 points 1 day ago (3 children)

My question = Has Trump ever told Putin to stop striking civilian infrastructure in Ukraine?

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 55 points 1 day ago

Has Donald ever said, “thank you”?

[–] username_1@discuss.tchncs.de 36 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Trump is stupid but not stupid enough to ask Putin anything. Trump knows perfectly well that he still has some level of leverage on Ukraine while none on Russia.

[–] CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago

You mispelled Putin's kompromat on Trump. ;)

Though at this stage the value of any kompromat is dubious at best. I don't think a 4k Dolby Atmos recording of Trump raping a bus load of preschoolers would have any impact on public opinion.

[–] usernameunnecessary@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

As if lack of leverage ever stopped him from saying stupid shit

But Trump said America doesn't need anyone else's oil, and the they harvest and produce more than anyone else, so they won't be affected by any of this.

Does this mean he lied to me?

[–] mnemonicmonkeys@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The US is actually a net hydrocarbon exporter. The catch is that most of it is either natural gas or low quality oil. We're set for tar, plastic feedstock, and LNG, but you can't run those in cars

He’ll just update the map and call it America, there don’t need anyone. America doesn’t need anyone!

Ukraine was forced to attack Russian refineries by Trump's war on Iran. That war sent fuel prices skyrocketing, and thereby also Russia's oil revenue, which Putin uses to fund the war. In order to hinder Russia's ability to wage war, Ukraine had no option but to start blowing up Russian refineries. At least that way Russia doesn't profit from Trump's inflated oil prices.

And with Russian strikes against Ukrainian energy infrastructure, it's impossible to argue it's not a legitimate target. If Trump doesn't like it, he has to provide an alternative. Complaining about the consequences of his actions isn't going to fix anything.

[–] GardenGeek@europe.pub 4 points 1 day ago

Zynism:

I'd almost bet we see Trump threatening Ukraine with the US entering the war on Russias side in the next months...

"Staff are quickly tiring of cleaning up all of his 'released statements' wherever he goes. 'The smell is...terrible. Unlike anything you've ever experienced.' said one personal aide on the condition of anonymity."

I want to Zelenskyy to destroy all of Russia’s oil refineries and oil production facilities and oil infrastructure even harder

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 31 points 1 day ago (8 children)

Does the US even provide anything to Ukraine anymore? Because I thought that at this point Ukraine is just fighting with weapons/gear they get from European countries and stuff they built for themselves. What leverage does he have on Ukraine? Can he stop providing them ammo? Lol no, the US apparently doesn't have enough for themselves. There's also the simple fact that European countries can just get stuff from the US and pass it on to Ukraine, and they're being more and more willingly to do it since Russia is starting to attack them.

Trump and everyone around him are such morons it's painful. If they wanted to have leverage over Ukraine they should have kept supplying them so they could hold those supplies over their heads in cases like these. Now it's just words nobody cares about.

What is he gonna do otherwise? Invade Ukraine? Support Russia militarily?

Man this kind of incompetence would be quite funny if there weren't so many people dying.

JFC, priorities, I guess.

Tiny d donnie might want to tell Putin to stop killing people in Ukraine and put an end to this war?

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 2 points 11 hours ago

"Vladimiiir staaaahp [shits pants] I'm not happy waaaah 😭" was about all he could muster, apparently.

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 day ago

Far as I can tell theres no incentive for them to abide by this. Keep pushing, Ukraine - this strategy is working.

For a nation that prides itself on its somewhat dubious war fighting capabilities, they sure managed to pick an absolute dunce at warfare to be their commander in chief.
