it started from a broken search bar then when I tried to fix it something else broke, then it became the most annoying whack a mole game of all time so I removed everything and start from scratch.

Its pretty cool you can actually do this in firefox.

[–] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de 43 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I fucking hate the rounded tabs. Disgusting, space wasting, genericism slop.

[–] CorrectAlias@piefed.blahaj.zone 18 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I agree, I disabled them in about:config. I believe the variable is browser.nova.enabled.

[–] ColdWater@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 days ago

Still not square enough for me

[–] sudoMakeUser@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 days ago

I genuinely thought I had opened Chrome somehow the other day when this update came out for me. It's so dumb.

[–] wdx@feddit.org 2 points 1 day ago

about:config browser.nova.enabled → false

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Revolving door of executives means we all get a bowl of Apple's regurgitated lukewarm slop eventually

Yours is awesome.

My favorite was:

This was acceptable too:

4.0 was where it was at, it's what i styled everything after for years.

Australis was the GOAT, the menu was very good, since then it's just a list of things.

[–] ColdWater@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago

Yeah I actually really like how they did with the back button on the 2nd picure

it's actually really nice ngl

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago (2 children)

So instead of just toggling it off, you invested lots of time intentionally making your browser look bad?

[–] MajorMajormajormajor@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 days ago

Why? Because fuck Microsoft, that's why.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Not for me lol. I added the config to my user.js, committed to my repo, and restarted the browser. Now I have what I wanted and not a gross mess, and it took 1 minute.

[–] ColdWater@lemmy.ca 12 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

buttons and menus are still rounded I wanted everything square for the colors that's just place holders later I will make it match my desktop theme, plus with my own CSS I can make everything use only one row which is save a lot of space

[–] Omgpwnies@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I've done similar when designing/troubleshooting CSS - obnoxious colours, temporary heavy borders (potentially also obnoxious colours). Makes it much easier to see where your objects are specifically, z-index, unintentional overlaps and so on.

[–] ColdWater@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Finally someone like me, thought I'm the only one doing this with css

[–] Zarobi@aussie.zone 1 points 1 day ago
.fucking-piece-of-shit {
    background: red !important;
    ...
}

dw, i do it too! it seems fairly logical; akin to using silly placeholder strings in programming.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world -3 points 2 days ago

Ok. I just turned that new toggle switch off in about:config because, while I didn't love it, it was for me more just that the old style was easier to parse and I was also used to it.

[–] narr1@lemmy.ml 10 points 2 days ago

congrats, it is truly disgusting. good job!

[–] muhyb@programming.dev 7 points 2 days ago

I did the same at first. Then I went with this instead:

* {
    border-radius: 3px !important;
}

I'll fix things one by one slowly, probably until the next UI overhaul comes. Then start over.

[–] MrSoup@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Disabling nova in about:cobfig doesn't fix the issues?

[–] ColdWater@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 days ago

It does but I want true sharp corner

[–] apparia@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm in the same boat with a custom theme -- even Librewolf is affected by this crap. Any tips on fixing the search? I don't know what's so hard about a fucking text box that they have to tweak the whole DOM every second update.
