Need basic features for business VOIP for main use with desk phones(yealink branded). Not interested in softphones right now, AI services etc.

Want to check for options, but not seeing a lot of options sub $15 other than zoom phone or Google voice.

Location: California ~70 users and 20 lines to port. Maybe 100 extensions.

I am in the process of setting up a small scale BPO operation offshore which has a call center component. I am looking for a VoIP solution that fit the below requirements for the call center:

  1. Windows compatible app for agents
  2. Calls need to be recorded and stored for a prolonged period of time
  3. Agents will need call back numbers this could either be a direct line or extensions, does not matter which
  4. additional call center monitoring tools will be beneficial (Call monitoring, whisper, etc.)
  5. need to be able to setup ring groups and assign these to certain (toll free or regular) numbers

Plus the below requirements for a few additional lines:

  1. inbound and outbound SMS
  2. send/receive fax
  3. Call recording
  4. Voicemail (Transcription to email would be a plus, not a requirement)
  5. mobile apps where calls can be transferred between desk phone/PC to mobile app if required.

Even though operations are offshore, the requirement is only for Calls/fax/SMS to and from the USA. I have looked at solutions line 8*8, Vonage, RingCentral etc. and also looked at pairing up 3CX and Callcentric. My operations will be starting extremely small, and I am trying to keep my costs to a minimum at the moment. Across the org, it will start with 6 users until I get more business. 3CX with a SIP trunk looks very appealing due to the features available and free charges for up to 10 users but I am oblivious to the drawbacks.

Would love to hear any suggestions with your experiences if you are able to provide any pros and cons of any setup. If you have any more questions that will help you give a better answer, just comment below.

Hi everyone, I am quite new to VOIP. I need a US phone number mainly to take calls, my main concern is that I want it to be 100% reliable so I do not miss any calls or SMS. I had been seeing a plethora of companies offering VOIP services like voip.ms, callcentric, textPlus, mysudo, etc. Can anyone guide me to choose the one that is most reliable and that is cheap since I only need to have an active US number? Some cost like 10 USD per month and others (mysudo for example) like 1 USD per month, why such a difference in pricing? Thanks in advance

I've been trying to set up a landline replacement for my parents. I tried Ooma recently, unfortunately the call volume was loud and distorted. So I got a Grandstream HT802 and signed up for Callcentric.

The call quality is great but apparently you have to dial 1 before every call. I think this is going to be a problem for my parents.

Callcentric has some info about 10 digit calling on certain devices here and I can't really understand it, seems like certain devices can do it but I can't find any of them for sale anywhere, so I'm guessing this isn't really going to be possible.

Does voip.ms make you dial 1 before every call? Ooma didn't. I never would have guessed it would be necessary for Callcentric, and I wouldn't have bothered with them if I knew. It's not hard for me to dial an extra 1 but my parents can't remember to do it.

Has anyone gotten PBWare v7 to integrate with Bandwidth SMS?

I have a 1-888 # that I am not using but do not want to lose. I do not want to pay the $25 monthly fee any longer. Do you have any recommendations in how I can do this and have a low monthly bill?

I use Zoom phone VOIP. I registered a brand and then created a 10DLC campaign. My SMS campaign was rejected because of a broken URL link in the brand. Just to be clear, the broken link is in the brand, not in the campaign. To update the broken link, I would have to delete the brand and create a new brand, and then create a new campaign for the new brand.

I need to know how long interruptions to my SMS capabilities will last if I delete the existing brand with the broken URL, then create a new brand, and then create a new campaign for the new brand.

Right now, I can still send SMS messages, even with a rejected campaign. Does anyone know when the rejected campaign will result in losing access to SMS messages?

I run a sole proprietor business (with the help of an assistant) based largely on calls and texts. It would be MUCH, MUCH easier to have a business phone plan where I can configure a call queue to direct calls between my assistant and myself, but I’m considering just getting a second physical cellphone to avoid the 10DLC hassle. If anybody has any thoughts on this dilemma, it would be appreciated.

as a voip engineer - what topics in networking I need to cover ?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to learn how VoIP system works, mostly with trial and error, since I want to be prepared in case something doesn't work in my company (small with 3 IP phones) and to counteract slow provider assistance.

I have a Aethra BG device from my ISP that gives internet connection to all my network, to which my IP phones are connected to. I use an on cloud voice system from my provider, I have SIP credentials for my phones and I also know my provider DNS.

So I've been able to configure new phones and now I'd like to be ISP devices indipendent. I mean I'd like as first thing to be able to use a backup internet connection , for example a mobile modem with SIM card, to let my phones receive and make calls when the main connection has got issues.

I tried and the phones register correctly, they also are able to make a call that rings on the receiver, but the conversation never begins. In Wireshark I saw that the INVITE request is sent and sometimes the response is "Trying" and other times is "Proxy Authentication Required".

Is my idea feasible or there something that is configured on the ISP device that force all my SIP traffic to pass onto it in order to make my phone work?

Thanks!

Hi all,

A complete noob here and looking to set up 5-6 cordless phones (Yealink W56H maybe) and I would like the ability to have these phones

  • connect with each other via a PBX system to make voice only calls (no video calls or multimedia calls etc.) and only assign a single digit extensions for dialing to each one of these phones
  • ability for external outgoing calls using a single phone line and maybe expand that to 2 phone lines for making 2 simultaneous incoming/outgoing calls for a month during a calendar year (my understanding is I would need a SIP trunk line for this)

I would like everything on-prem and nothing hosted on the cloud at all.

I have reached out to some local resellers and tried looking this up online but likely getting confused because everyone is giving me different information.

In a nutshell, this is what I have been advised

  • I would need an on-prem hosted SIP server - 3CX is the best one?
  1. Some have said that I cannot have an on-prem PBX system that supports IP phones - unsure why this would be the case though.
  2. This has to be on a very powerful server hardware to support all the voice codecs
  3. I would have to pay for an annual license cost for this server to run 3CX SIP server - the website says it is perpetually free for up to 10 users but unsure why all the resellers are charging annual license cost to us
  • All the cordless handsets would need a base station each even though one base station can support up to 5 handsets
  • We cannot assign single digit extensions to these phones via the SIP or the PBX system

TIA

I have a location that is unable to to dial a particular number. Our carrier uses ATT as the underlying carrier. Both the location and our clients ATT cell get the same error. We provide this info to our vendor support.

(When you do a carrier lookup on the mobile phone number it shows up as Cingular)

Vendor Support: "We checked the number and it doesn't show up as AT&T, it shows up as Cingular Wireless. Please reach out to Cingular directly to have them assist."

Anybody have a time machine?

I am not affiliated with Acrobits at all, but use Groundwire with Voip.ms. Thought the sale might be of interest to this sub.

Mods please delete if this is against the rules. I know it likely breaks rule 1.

Does anyone have any reliable configurations for faxing using a Mediant 1000? We are having a ton of issues lately. We are using T38 Relay on the unit, the baud rate has already been lowered to 14.4 on the gateway as well as the machines themselves (Canon MFD units). It seems to be a negotiation issue as looking through the call traces after the DETECT_FAX we are getting BYE. Also some calls last like 30 secs and then disconnect? Any ideas?

Hi

I manage a bunch of different SIP trunks (bunches of channels for in/out calls, coming and going from SBCs) from different providers. Generally when it comes to authentication, there are two methods:

  1. We give the provider our SBC IP addresses and if there are inbound phone numbers (DDIs), a priority list for inbound calls. They allow calls to and from these IP addresses without further authentication.
  2. They provide us a username and password and we setup additional config on our SBCs to cause a challenge request and then follow up with usually a user/account name, realm (something set by them) and a password. We aso have to give a priority list of IPs for inbound DDIs, although know there are other ways to do this.

Anyway, my question is does anyone see any pitfalls of using either?

Personally, I find the 1st method easier to setup but limiting in that I can't just push calls from anywhere without authorising it first. The 2nd method is more complex to setup but once done, their end will allow a call from anywhere.

I guess the second is less secure at their end because I can lockdown my firewall ACL to block everything except them, but they have to allow anything with the right user/realm/password.

I'm thinking the u/P method was originally build with individual handsets anywhere on the internet in mind, rather than trunks between SBCs. It would make more sense so that you didn't have to amend ACLs when throwing out handsets or apps left right and centre.

Whereas the IP authentication evolved for more fixed/infrastructure SIP trunking like SBCs to SBCs?

Thanks

Hi,
Do I need to get a Trunk to get income calls?
If not I am not sure how to setup it up that way that I will receive the call to my voip phone.

Anyone has experience with it?

Anyone ever had some outbound calls work and others don’t? It’s consistent to certain numbers like calling my cell, nope. Calling a supplier, works.

It’s odd and I don’t see any threads out there for this issue. Of course they’re likely buried under an ocean of “no outbound calls” threads.

We have two locations with the same devices and routers. The location that has issues, the location the freepbx server is at, btw. The only thing different is that the server plugs into the same ISP modem the router for that network does. As far as I understand it, the network behind the router doesn’t see the server any differently than if it was somewhere else. The ISP modem isn’t set up as a router, right?

Sorry i might not understand the yeaster documentation but how i do i receive call reports from the pbx to a 3rd party application.

i know i need an api interface which isn't a problem. the problem is yeaster pbx settings themselves which are confusing. Is it through the Inbound routes which doesn't seem likely or is it in the event settings which i haven't seen the setting to send the call report/info to my api interface

I am trying to start a small center in the Philippines. I already have a client and he is the one providing our dialers. I would like to have my own dialer so that I can get another client. Any recommendation for a cheap dialer? I also need a dialer that can send and receive SMS without the TCR.

Hi there. I've upgraded our work phones recently to a new VOIP system and we use the Algo 8028 doorphone system with our Yealink SIP T43u phones through Vonage. My only question is, is there a way to program the phones to where we can open the door strike we hooked up to the Algo without someone pressing the button outside? We basically plugged-and-played with the existing door strike, and it works great, but we used to could just press a button on our PBX system and it would open. Is there a way to do the same thing here? TIA

I'm in the UK and will soon need to switch over from the old copper landline to VOIP for my phone use (my property is already on fiber, FTTP to be exact).

I know that I need a VOIP Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA) in order to connect my old analog phones to the router. However, my ISP doesn't seem to think that I can plug in TWO phones simultaneously (yet only one will ever be used at a time). One is a cordless phone with wired base station, the other a simple wired phone (so not cordless and no base station) which I use in the event of power cuts). Surely it should be possible to plug in some kind of multi-way/T piece adapter to the VOIP ATA to save having to swap cables whenever there's a power failure. (the ONT box and router will be powered via a UPS).

Hello everyone,

I'm US-based, looking to leave OpenPhone after their recent changes, which only allow me to text from 1 of my numbers.

I had already left them once (because there was an issue "registering my campaign") and went with the more privacy-respecting MySudo, which was a terrible experience. For the life of me, I could not get calls to ring my phone, I would just get a notification that I missed the call. Poor call quality when it did connect. Also no web-based texting.

So I ported the number back into a new OpenPhone account after a few months because they at least had the features I needed. Or so I thought. NOW they are telling me that because of the "sole proprietor" status, I am only able to text from 1 of my numbers.

I have 3 numbers, my main personal number, a business number for clients, and a burner number for various use cases. All 3 of these must be able to send and receive texts, however, it appears that OpenPhone is once again screwing me over.

I need a simple VOIP solution that ideally:
Has a web-based interface and an Android app
Can handle 3 phone numbers, both business and personal
Can make and receive US-based phone calls
Can send/receive SMS/MMS in the US

Some unrequired bonus features I'm also looking for are:
Call recording
Simple IVR
Call forwarding to another number
MFA/2FA
Privacy respecting

I've got a secondary number thru ooma that I want to keep. The problem is, it gets 15-20 scam calls a day. I was hoping to fwd it to a line that just rings and rings. Ideally, no automated pick up for any reason. I turned off voice mail on ooma but after some rings, a system message comes on and says something like - this number is not accepting voice mails. I assume if I find something that just rings the scam calls would start to go away. Thoughts?
