/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Hating someone off of their race, culture, creed, sexuality, or identity is not remotely acceptable. Mistakes can happen but do your best to respect others.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon' and fuck over our artist friends.

Fun will now commence.

Underrated post right here.

Not the Bortle scale for the darkness of the sky?

[–] alquicksilver@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Loved the comment, but then I saw your username. This made me unreasonably happy. Thank you for that haha

I like to think I'm the little Derek in the martini glass

You’re devastated right now

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 19 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Does anyone like Tasha all that much?

She slept with Data and had a sister who had a much harder life than she did... then she died.

[–] The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world 16 points 4 months ago (1 children)

She's a bit much, imo. The show didn't need two Worfs.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 10 points 4 months ago (1 children)

What's interesting to me is that Marina Sirtis was originally cast as Tasha and Denise Crosby originally cast as Troi, but their roles were swapped. I'd love to have seen that version of TNG.

[–] The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world 11 points 4 months ago (2 children)

It would've been so weird to see Marina Sirtis playing a badass security officer. I'm probably biased from only seeing her as Troi though.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 10 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I don't know of anything else she's been in that she's played it tough, but I doubt they would have cast her that way if they didn't initially seen something of that in her. She certainly has the presence for the role if her outgoing personality at conventions is any indication.

[–] ProgrammingSocks@pawb.social 14 points 4 months ago (1 children)

TNG itself! She "played" a Tal Shiar officer!

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 10 points 4 months ago

Good point! She also played it tough in voice roles in Gargoyles, now that I think of it.

[–] teft@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago

She was tough in Stargate.

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 6 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

She plays one of the bad guys in Mass Effect and is basically a bad ass space wizard.

Armin Shimmerman is also in the game, but he just plays two randos.

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago

She really is great at playing against type, isn't she?

[–] scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech 16 points 4 months ago (2 children)

You know, I've never had to deal with that.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 28 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Don't worry, one day you'll find a friend.

[–] Norgur@fedia.io 14 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, seems like the Enterprise crew are the only people liking Tasha.

[–] VeganCheesecake@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I think young me had a crush on both her and Data when I first watched TNG. I guess I was really into yellow?

[–] Norgur@fedia.io 12 points 4 months ago (1 children)

More into stone-faced people who didn't show emotions at all and were immune to social cues?

Considering I have been called "overly stoic", "unsentimental", and "unemotional" by romantic partners, and my therapist tells me it isn't healthy to bottle up my emotions, I may just have seen myself somewhere in there.

[–] Matriks404@lemmy.world 13 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I am always grateful that I forget spoilers, before I am willing to spend time watching something or playing a game. It's my secret superpower.

She's a legit snack

[–] teft@lemmy.world 10 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (2 children)

Holy Forking Shirtballs. Do you guys think Tasha went to the Good Place? We all know Romulan Tasha went to the Bad Place for sure.

[–] Infynis@midwest.social 9 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Depends on if they'd completed the reform of the afterlife by the 24th century on Earth

[–] teft@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago

That’s not how time works in the afterlife.

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

We never see her demise/return, sadly, they left that one hanging.

[–] kandoh@reddthat.com 9 points 4 months ago

If you can make it through the one-two punch of the horny episode and the racist episode, I think you'll be fine

[–] beefbot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 4 months ago

Take it sludgy!

[–] kaputter_Aimbot@feddit.de 5 points 4 months ago

What happened has set the grounds for not just one but two really cool twists later in the series. (And some interesting behind the scenes facts and rumours) 😉
