Did Alex Jones not wear suits?

[–] Mirshe@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago

Famously, not really. He's always stuck to business casual at best to make himself look more like a "man of the people".

not that I watched him at all so I don't know of this image is representative, but whenever I think of him I see him in a wifebeater

time to require proof of vaccines from americans at airports and borders?

[–] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 104 points 18 hours ago

As an American I fully support such proposals.

[–] Erasmus@lemmy.world 10 points 16 hours ago

Sorry, all you get is proof of brain worms and essential oils.

Proof of vaccinations are now stamped by RFK Jr. himself.

Sooo, anyone want to take bets that Bird Flu is going to be the next pandemic?

[–] Phoenicianpirate@lemm.ee 1 points 3 hours ago

Avian flu thankfully didn't become a major pandemic in times past due to luck and measures taken. But SARS in 2003 could have become a major pandemic... because COVID-19 is a variant of the 2003 SARS...

M pox is so cliche. Bird Flu is hot.

[–] Jesusaurus@lemmy.world 22 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

The government has decided that pandemics are a hoax and as such do not exist.

Stocks in companies that make chainsaws powerful enough to cut the heads off of whales are through the roof.

Am I the only one who thinks companies providing healthcare and life saving medicines shouldn't be fucking publicly traded?? They need to focus on helping humanity, not the fucking bottom line go up or whatever.

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 32 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Well yes that's obvious

It's supposed to be publicly funded, not traded

Someone a long time ago must have misheard

[–] herrcaptain@lemmy.ca 11 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Except it's actually the best of both worlds for the rich - as far as I know, a lot of these companies are publicly traded AND receive public funding.

[–] LANIK2000@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago

Publicity traded, AKA shareholders leverage the company to make return on their investment and this company also receives public money just for the hell of it? Wow, what a combination. Totally not a setup for major exploitation.

No not Big Pharma! Won't anybody think of the STOCKS?

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 7 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

Upside: pharma companies stop making massive profits

Downside: we all die from preventable diseases.

Win some lose some 🤷

These companies are huge, and know how to lobby the government. It seems to be the wrong industry to piss off.

[–] 31337@sh.itjust.works 2 points 7 hours ago

know how to lobby the government.

I'm thinking this may be how it'll work. More like "bribe" though, and Trump is probably doing this on purpose to coerce companies for bribes. Aka, racketeering on the highest level.

[–] DirkMcCallahan@lemmy.world 22 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

I never thought I'd side with big corporations...but for the next 4 years, some of them may well be the lesser evil.
