Hell no i deleted that shit of hatred and ads like 5 years ago.

Facebook can be very useful for organizing events, it has some occasionally useful groups (e.g. when looking for roommates) and marketplace is one of the few places where people still sell things for way below their value (probably correlated to which people still use Facebook). But as a social media platform it is pretty much dead as far as I'm concerned.
My sister has passed away a couple of years ago. She still has an in memoriam account on Facebook. I am afraid to request to remove it as I am not sure whether someone is still looking at it sometimes for comfort. I do want to keep an eye on it in case someone posts something on her wall, so I still have an account myself to check it. That is the only reason. I never do anything else with it and I ditched Instagram.
I believe I technically still have an account, but I have no clue what the password is, and I'm not about to give up more personal information just to delete it. I haven't used my FB account in years, and it was actually created for me by some friends back when Tinder still required a FB account.
There's also an IG account out there that I did create for myself more recently, but also haven't used in many years, and again, deleting the account feels like too much effort when I can just continue not using it.
I mostly try to avoid clicking any links to content on their platforms, but unfortunately a lot of people/businesses only exist on those platforms, plus some other volunteer work I do kinda requires it, so I do begrudgingly click them sometimes. Thankfully my closest friends have learned to send screenshots instead.
No, I had it for awhile, but dropped it around 2017 when the Cambridge Analytica shit dropped and it became apparent why my feed was flooded with crazy polarizing political propaganda that was making people from totally unrelated areas of my life fight each other online. Nothing like seeing a former coworker arguing with your 15 year old cousin over some QAnon conspiracy theory on some post.
It was cool about 20 years ago!
I gave it up once I realized it wasn’t for human connections anymore around 2018 or so. I remade an account with a fake name in 2020 when marketplace became undeniably big in America
Very much my feelings and timeline. Still using my original account for Marketplace though. There's no getting away from it, for me anyway.
Sometimes I use it for few minutes when I have nothing better to do, E.g. on a bus, but given the amount of stupid shit I see on it recently it discourages me from using it.
I have it, but it's not my real name. I removed all the photos from my profile about 10 years ago. I don't have the app on my phone, so I only check it when I'm on my PC. I don't post to it, rarely comment on other people's posts, and only occasionally "like" or "love" the comments.
The only reason I keep the account is because if I deleted it, I would lose track of everyone I've ever known in my life since high-school onwards (I'm 45, to put that in perspective) that I don't really communicate with at all anymore, but I still like seeing what they're up to in life. I don't know how else/where else I'd be able to do that.
From about 2007 to 2010 or so
I have an account. Never really used it for basically anything. Eventually started using their messaging service because of a group I was a part of. Now I don't use either.
I think the last time I used it was a couple years ago when I looked for something on their crack house marketplace.
Canceled 2 months ago and never looked back.
Never did
This is the way.
I use WhatsApp, but I'm convincing more and more of my friends and family to switch to Signal
My account still exists, and I will log in maybe once every 6 months when I need to for some reason. But that's it. Sorta like LinkedIn.
Also no Threads, Instagram, etc.
Nope, I got rid of it when Snowden dropped his info.
Yes. I run an account for our D&D blog. I keep my personal and actually post opposition to republican stuff in order to counter my friend’s stuff. I don’t care if they listen or not, the more i inundate them with it the more likely they will eventually listen or block me which then good riddance.
No more Meta apps. FB, Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram, Threads. Nothing. Painful at times but worth it.
Fucking messenger is the only way to communicate with 90% of the population in my country.
I have some bad news for you….
deleted my account a year ago, wasn't using it for years but did use messenger previously
never had instagram, because never got the point
There’s a handful of people on there that I want to keep in touch with that I wouldn’t as easily be able to otherwise.
Deleted circa 2010. Never looked back.
Haven’t used Facebook since maybe 2016/7. Got off Instagram maybe around 2020ish. See zero purpose for either. I do miss having a way to easily contact those friends but I have most of their numbers. They just won’t randomly message unless I pop up on their feed
I abandoned Facebook and Instagram about 8 years ago, when they had begun putting some random posts on my feed. It was nice when it was about following your friends and their content, but I couldn't care less about their recommendations.
I quit circa 2012 after a friend posted a photo of us and fb suggested they tag me.
I've never used any of the others.
Gave it up about a month ago. The only reason I miss it is marketplace and getting local community news. Also local events are advertised there as well. I was trying to think of a way to get it back in a very anonymized way and block as much of the app as possible. I have adguard DNS, and a throw away email so I may do that.
Still have an account, but haven't been of FB for over 2 years. Once I did some stats and found that only something like 4% of top 100 posts were updates from friends; rest was ads or suggested videos. So, I stopped checking it out and gradually forgot about it, and I found I wasn't missing out on anything.
I joined when it was for students only and quit sometime around 2007. There was a "quit Facebook day" once a year that was for raising awareness about how evil Facebook was even back then. I quit on one of those days. At least that's part of the reason why I quit. Also the only Facebook friend I really interacted with abruptly got extremely fundamentalist Christian and started posting stuff that I couldn't stand to be assaulted with.
Stopped using back in 2017. Just recently got a text from Facebook to try to get me back and was like "lol fuck that"
Never used it, never even intentionally been on the website.
I never did in the first place
It always seemed weird and artificial to me
Wish I didn't have to but in my country pretty much everyone still uses it. So if I want to keep in touch with people that I know irl or if I want to keep an eye open for gigs to go watch or whatever events that I might want to go to, I have to keep it around.
God no. I nuked my socials during 2020. I got so sick and tired of people bitching/praising about Trump's first term. I had FB so I could talk to family that still lived in MA. and friends from school. I'd get like one vacation photo and then days of nothing but Trump stuff.
I deleted my personal FB around a decade ago and Instagram few years ago but I joined back in because I needed pages for my business. I wouldn't exactly still say that I use them. I make one or two picture posts of my work a month and then leave.
I think I used Facebook from about 2006 to 20... 2016? I dunno. It was never good. Never used Instagram. I don't want to see other people's selfies if I don't know them
To download ra2 maps, other than that it's a right wing site, you wouldn't touch with a 10 ft pole. Also found a way to bypass their login using unlock origin
I finally gave up. iiwant to keep in touch with what distant friends are doing. Finding and sharing memes is not doing something and that seems to be all I ever saw. Some people need to get a life. (unless you are confined to a hospital bed there are better things to eo with your life.) Too bad - I miss the rare contact with those distant friends.
Never used any of them and get even more glad of it with passing time.
I still have a Facebook account. I mostly just check once a day to look at my Memories. I had already largely stopped using it because they stopped showing me things from my friends or pages I follow. Typically it would be one post at the top of the feed from someone or something I follow, then a bunch of “suggested” content, not what I want to see. I made my account in February 2005, back when you had to be a college student at a university Facebook supported to get an account. Over the years I had several hundred friends, although I got more selective as I got older and weeded out people on my list and added a lot fewer of the people I met. All that to say, I don’t think there was a lack of content available to show me, they just don’t want to show me what my friends and family are doing.
One of my goals for this year is to set up my own Friendica instance for myself and maybe a few close family members. I’d like to try to figure out a way to take a Facebook data export and import it into Friendica. It looks like there’s no direct way, but maybe an indirect way by importing the Facebook data to WordPress, then importing the WordPress data to Friendica.
I haven’t used it in about 10 years and in fact now have all Meta properties blocked on my networks.
Havent used Facebook since like 2015. Used Instagram till about November last year. It really felt like a huge waste of time just scrolling on it.
I got on FB when it was still only for students. I quit something like 5 years ago. I never had insta. I quit twitter partially pre-corona and fully deleted it a couple years ago. I mostly just read things, especially during Corona when local governments posted a lot there (until recently, twitter was king in Japan. I think Insta has since dethroned it somewhat).
I do. For family, co-workers, marketplace, and a few groups - neighborhood, work-related info, and animal shelters.
I think I'm too young for Facebook, and I deleted my Instagram account about a month ago. I was primarily using it to socialize with friends, but decided that wasn't worth the privacy cost.
