Summary

Elon Musk rejected accusations of Nazi sympathies in a Fox News interview, calling it “outrageous” and blaming media propaganda.

Critics point to his straight-arm salute at Trump’s rally, endorsement of a German far-right party, and reinstating white supremacist accounts on X.

His cuts to federal agencies under DOGE have sparked protests and vandalism, including nicknaming Teslas “swasticars.”

Musk claims he's targeted for character assassination and receives daily death threats. He and Lara Trump compared the attacks to those against Donald Trump, accusing mainstream media of spreading lies.

straight-arm salute

It's called a nazi salute. Don't spread doubt on what it was. He did it twice in close succession. The only other reason for holding your arm up like that is when you explain how high Blondie, Hitler's dog, could jump.

'Nazi' isn't a preferable pronounce, it's what you're called when you act like a nazi, talk like a nazi and salute like a fucking nazi.

History books will show he said this after the multiple seig heils on stage and telling the AfD to no longer be ashamed of Germany's past.

What’s really outrageous is that he’s a free man, instead of rotting in some cell for the rest of his life like the Nazi sympathizing psychopath waste of oxygen he is.

Wait Joshua was racist??!?

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 15 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Look guys, just because he bought Twitter and reinstated all the Nazi accounts, and thinks and says Nazi things, and and performed an obvious Nazi salute not once, but twice in a live broadcast to millions of homes, that doesn't mean he's a Nazi!

Next thing you will say that this guy is a Nazi;

Nothing will meaningfully improve until the rich fear for their lives

[–] OccamsRazer@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Which rich? Because I only hear about some of them.

[–] Iheartcheese@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Let's start with the ones you always hear about then see if the others fall in line.

Looks like a duck, acts like a duck, quacks like a duck, even rapes like a duck. Why is everyone calling me a duck?

"I need to save Tesla stock so I'll just lie long enough for people to forget."

Pretty funny/terrible that there is so much news about all these turds (probably by design) that it becomes exceedingly difficult to search to fact-check older things and bring up previous articles one remembers. Even AI has problems parsing the searches. It is like 1984's information-deletion theme isn't even needed. You just create enough noise that the signal gets lost.

Re-found this info though to float it back up to the top: https://www.irishstar.com/news/us-news/elon-musks-political-shift-family-34222327

Discussing with MailOnline, Errol conveyed his satisfaction at observing Elon own up to his background, stating: "I think for the first time Elon was accepting who he is. Until recently, he's been a sort of character on a stage." He then added his thoughts on his sons' initial political trajectories saying, "When you come from South Africa, Lefties think you're a Nazi. To succeed, you need to be accepted by them so my sons, [Elon and younger brother Kimbal, a hugely successful restaurateur], started to become these flaming liberals – turning away from South Africa and their roots, which included me. Finally, Elon was embracing his heritage and his destiny," reported the Mirror.

Of course, "South Africa and their roots" == Apartheid, white nationalism, and all the usual stuff leading up to Fascism and Godwin's law.

Ignoring the fact that he did what was probably the most vigorous Nazi salute in existence...

It's not just not outrageous to call him a Nazi, it's a perfectly normal and reasonable thing to conclude especially when you consider his other behaviour and the kinds of things he supports

[–] Yerbouti@sh.itjust.works 50 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Supporting the AfD party, an openly neo-nazi party, and appearing in their events, days after the "roman salute" removed any kind of ambiguity that could exist. He's a nazi, period. And the only good nazis are dead nazis.

[–] Corno@lemm.ee 24 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

The Roman salute excuse that many of his supporters promoted irks me because of how dishonest it is from the get go. There's not a single Roman work of art that depicts the salute and it actually originated fairly recently under Mussolini's National Fascist Party.

[–] lagoon8622@sh.itjust.works 11 points 6 hours ago

Additionally, the Nazis on 4chan et. al. had no problem recognizing the symbol for what it was. It was the pearl-clutching lib enablers who had trouble recognizing it

This post does not mean "voting is useless", tankies fuck off

It wasn't, a few years before Mussolini came to power a film came out depicting the Roman Empire, nothing political, but it was known to have inspired Mussolini's character and public image, and was the first instance of what was known to be the "Roman salute" from which Mussolini borrowed as he was so inspired by the film, it was never historically used by Romans. Ordinary things made an amazing doc on Mussolini and his rise to power. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xhwx8z8mJc

Guys, he’s absolutely right, and absolutely worse - Nazis have ideals (however flawed and monstrous) and this POS has none.

He’s an opportunist psychopath with 0 qualms about throwing a Nazi salute if it gets him what he wants. He’s a Nazi sympathizing parasite who’ll fake anything for likes, and the only thing he deserves is to serve as a ridiculed, timeless reminder for future generations the dangers of mindless celebrity worship and billionaires.

[–] vga@sopuli.xyz 6 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (1 children)

I think that he really does have actual nazi ideals and that his apparent lack of ideals is the smokescreen.

Could be, but I personally don’t care to invest any effort in the distinction - if you’re ok cloaking yourself in Nazi garb, you’re a Nazi, full stop.

And Nazi lives don’t matter.

[–] SulaymanF@lemmy.world 7 points 8 hours ago

He’s also got ideas, mainly the need to breed more men with his genius DNA. /s

No they are absolutely not the same thing. Nazis were extreme right wing, authoritarian, Catholic, antisemitic, white supremacist, bigoted, anti intellectual and education, violent, ignorant fascists. Maga are extreme right wing, authoritarian, evangelical, antisemitic, white supremacist, bigoted, anti intellectual and education, violent, ignorant fascists.

Edit: also the Twitter guy literally stated in public that empathy is a weakness instead of the foundation of morality. When an American psychiatrist Gustave Gilbert interviewed high ranking Nazis at Nuremberg he had this to say:

"I told you once that I was searching for the nature of evil. I think I've come close to defining it: a lack of empathy. It's the one characteristic that connects all the defendants. A genuine incapacity to feel with their fellow man. Evil, I think, is the absence of empathy."

"I don't live in the 1930s - 1940s Nazi Germany region, so I'm just a sparkling fascist"

[–] Siresly@lemm.ee 18 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

Typically it's this kind of thing where you may have to scrub the disingenuous surface of plausible deniability a little to reveal the rottenness underneath as the fascists try to hide, reorganize, strategize, obfuscate, manipulate, infiltrate and ultimately influence under the guise of some common issue they can blame on their targets, or a made-up issue they can redirect people's frustrations towards, before they amass enough resources to where they can really get to work.

But some of them get too eager and jump the gun. The fascist party of Sweden, the Sweden Democrats, has had multiple instances of overtly rightwing extremist, racist, fascist Nazi shit unearthed by media, at which point leadership has felt the need to boot those members for the sake of current Overton window optics.

Musk is definitely one of those kinds of Nazis, a stupid one. He just went out there and performed a Nazi salute on live international TV in 4K. He ostensibly reckons he's rich enough and the Overton window is pushed far enough to where he can get away with it.

But the number in your bank account is not the only number that can affect events. Power in numbers is what us in the 99% have, and should utilize. I love seeing the solidarity against Tesla resulting in notable hardships for the business. And if all else fails, Luigi only needs one well-timed shell to win.

We'll never rest again, until every Nazi dies.

[–] Litebit@lemmy.world 28 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

It is outrageously true he is a Nazi, to which he acknowledged with a nazi salute.

[–] CapriciousDay@lemmy.ml 9 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

Two nazi salutes, one after the other
