Executive function offline.

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

All my executive functions got Luigi'd, and now I've accidentally left a package of pre-sliced Gouda on the counter for 24 hours.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Oof! Depending on how cold it was initially, I might try to salvage that, but if it smells even slightly off, in the bin it goes. :(

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

I do that. But instead of accidentally, I do it deliberately. Because putting it away would be too much work, and what if I want a slice later? Am I supposed to open the fridge and get it, when I currently don’t have to? Clearly leaving it out is the most efficient and beneficial option, plus I’m too tired.

This cartoon is basically my programming career. Initially I thought that everything had to be planned out to the most exacting degree (panel 1). Then I learned that nothing ever goes as planned so you have to be able to adapt on the fly to changing circumstances; eventually I realized that adaptation is so much more important that you really don't need much of a plan at all, especially when you're basically writing the same software over and over again (panel 2).

Eventually I realized that nobody ever used the software I was writing so there wasn't much point in doing anything at all (panel 3). Then I was laid off and now I drive a school bus (panel 4).

put them in a soup and you get total executive dysfunction

[–] Digit@lemmy.wtf 1 points 6 days ago

Be sure to add seasoning.

Om nom soup.

I'm in this picture, and I don't like it.

I don't know where this is, but I know both Coke and Pepsi don't like to allow venders to sell both. They have special terms and pricing for exclusive contracts.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

They do, but you can get contracts that don't specify that the other companies products aren't allowed in the store. You pay a higher price, but they'd rather have their product in your restaurant along with the competition, than none of their products in your restaurant, so it's not too bad of a price gouge.

After all, it's not like they even try to enforce that shit at grocery stores and convenience stores/ gas stations.

[–] SippyCup@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Ever notice how Coke OR Pepsi products are on sale, but never both at the same time?

[–] Petter1@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 5 days ago

Pepsi is basically dead in my country…

[–] Digit@lemmy.wtf 1 points 6 days ago

I notice them side by side in the shops.

[–] sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 week ago

You know, I never noticed that. My immediate thought would be like a high school commissary or some place too small to prosecute for buying a flavor bag outside of a contract. If that's even possible

Autism is a 4th Dino that reminds you to get stuck in some loop.

[–] Zink@programming.dev 8 points 1 week ago

I was thinking the autism dino would say something like "ok you still have to do everything somehow, but you cannot ask for help"

[–] Harvey656@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Haha, imagine having all three!

[–] Zink@programming.dev 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Does anybody here have moderate to severe ADHD and can honestly say you do not have anxiety and depression? Not necessarily medicated, but I'd expect it to be a lot more common in this crowd. Our crowd.

[–] Petter1@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 5 days ago

Not doing stuff with no plan works, until it doesn’t, then you get anxiety over those things that didn’t work, you try planning now, plan fails, you now have anxiety that your plans fail, you reached depression

I think…

[–] miked@piefed.social 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Don't have to. Can tell you it is... interesting.

[–] Digit@lemmy.wtf 2 points 6 days ago

And often frustrating.

[–] texture@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

true! im certainly never ... bored

[–] SippyCup@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 week ago

Isn't that the joke?

[–] snoons@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

Yeah, but to me it depends on how much groceries I'm carrying mith me and if it needs to be refrigerated.

*You carry everything inside in one trip from your car, I carry everything inside in one trip from the store, 40 minutes away.

We are not the same.

[–] Digit@lemmy.wtf 2 points 6 days ago

Ordering hemp kernels in bulk, effectively as emergency rations, for all the times failing to get to buy groceries, or even have the means to.

[–] dogdeanafternoon@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 week ago

If the answer isn’t “every single bag at once” then I don’t wanna hear it

Making it to the grocery store ✅

Buying things because you have a coupon ✅

Carrying everything inside in one trip ✅

Ordering Taco Bell ✅✅✅

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

Just gotta catch that wave upward so that you can "do everything!" For awhile, at least.

Depends on the day for me. Sometimes they overlap which makes my brain hurt.

[–] Digit@lemmy.wtf 2 points 6 days ago

Yeah, can't rely on which will be at which level...

[–] shadowedcross@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

There's usually one that comes out on top, but what makes it even more interesting is my perfectionism.

[–] Feddinat0r@feddit.org 6 points 1 week ago

Yeah only 2 out of three..

I plan the shit out of things i dont do!

[–] texture@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

cute AND relatable.

[–] Sc00ter@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

[–] Petter1@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 5 days ago

Hmm, 🤔

I think, I can relate

[–] just_ducky_in_NH@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Are you my husband? Billy, that you?

[–] Sc00ter@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 week ago

Nope. Sorry

[–] krooklochurm@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I have adhd and I HATE plans.

I'm pretty good at thinking in my feet.

[–] Digit@lemmy.wtf 2 points 6 days ago

Yep.

A lot of the advice is to plan.

Ha!

[–] Limerance@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago

Perfectionism is bad for you.
