Nicki Minaj fans and critics react to her embrace of far-right conservatism with Erika Kirk and the calls for her deportation because of it.

Minaj’s current citizenship status is also unclear, though in 2024, she said, “I’m not a citizen of America. Isn’t that crazy?” during a TikTok Live stream. “You would think that with the millions of dollars that I’ve paid in taxes to this country that I would have been given an honorary citizenship many, many, many thousands of years ago.”

Uh, no.

Actually this is good. As for hypocrisy, think of it as a lesson to be taught. Also her being deported would be good for American brains

[–] Sanctus@anarchist.nexus 53 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm not rooting for someone to be deported. Someone being getting caught in the awful machinery they support would be pretty funny tho

i don't laugh when faces are eaten by leopards, but I do laugh when leopard eating faces supporters get their face eaten be leopards

[–] MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago

She's a stupid, rotten cunt.

Immigrants with more dedication and hard work philosophy are being deported every day.

Buh-bye.

[–] HisArmsOpen@crust.piefed.social 56 points 1 day ago (3 children)

She self declared that she was an illegal immigrant at the age of 5. That doesn't meet the lawful threshold to deport. It is multiple times more evidence than used to disappear so many other people. HOWEVER we cannot justify deporting this imbecile without opening floodgates to deport others. Let's just destroy her career, buy nothing from her, make her too shitty for anyone to follow. Lets see if the infamously racist MAGA faithful buy her products.

[–] Red_October@piefed.world 2 points 18 hours ago

They're already deporting others, with more malice than evidence. If we can stop the machine, we absolutely should. Until we can stop the machine, at least let it focus on grinding up the shitty people who thought it was a good idea in the first place.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 23 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The floodgates are already open. I honestly don't see how this could make it worse?

[–] qevlarr@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Practically, this doesn't make a difference. It's all symbolic. And symbolically, I think this is all wrong. I want people to be able to go where they please, within a country but also between countries. Calling it illegal to exist in a place, when they have done no harm to anyone, is all kinds of fucked up to me. Support Freedom of movement

Sad to say I agree. ICE have no real opposition. Plus the people and communities hurt by the (illegal) deportations are rightly, so incredibly angry.

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Does any of the MAGA base actually listen to Nicki?

Highly unlikely. Justice is served.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 7 points 1 day ago

They might now.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

Bye Felicia

[–] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 64 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Stop giving this ghoul attention.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 37 points 1 day ago

It's pure cope. People desperately need to believe the law actually applies to the rich.

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 93 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Dumbass non-citizen US resident finds out it wasn't such a smart move to cozy up to MAGA.

[–] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 20 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Yeah no one should be deported ever.

[–] T156@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Especially by popularly vote. "People don't like you, so you're exiled from your home country" sets a bad precedent.

[–] Lucelu2@lemmy.zip 1 points 18 hours ago

I think we can agree that some people, even born Americans have just not panned out well. We can keep the strivers who may or may not have documents and maybe deport the Octomom or Andrew Tate somewhere else.

Dear leftists and liberals,

Do we think immigrants should be deported for having political viewpoints we disagree with?

Thanks.

[–] SARGE@startrek.website 135 points 1 day ago (3 children)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradox_of_tolerance

"The paradox of tolerance is a philosophical concept suggesting that if a society extends tolerance to those who are intolerant, it risks enabling the eventual dominance of intolerance"

In this case, yes, it IS a good idea to not tolerate the intolerant views.

This is literally what Kirk used to do on college campuses. "you say you believe in tolerance yet you call us nazis and say we shouldn't be allowed in politics" type stuff.

[–] Arghblarg@lemmy.ca 66 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

This. And hence why it is always good to punch a Nazi. Tolerance is a social contract. When one side violates the contract the other side has no obligation to adhere to it any longer.

[–] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 day ago

I'd say they have a duty to remove the intolerant.

[–] lemmyseikai@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This is a selective quote.

The whole thought experiment for the Paradox does require us to take time to determine if someone is truly intolerant versus ignorant. After they have established that they are intolerant then the recommended conclusion holds.

That said, in the context of Nikki Minaj, she has definitely shown herself to be intolerant (probably due to willful ignorance caused by... You guessed it... Wealth echo chamber).

Nice to see you again SARGE.

[–] SARGE@startrek.website 7 points 1 day ago

Agreed, ignorance is usually where a lot of bigotry comes from, and always strive to educate and inform people.

And also agreed, she has shown her true colors and isn't simply ignorant of facts.

Interesting how rich people being bigoted tends to bring us together!

No. I think they should be punished for actively and knowingly supporting an openly fascist regime that persecutes and commits war crimes against its own people. And if deportation is the avenue for that punishment, so be it.

~~Or~~

And....

[–] SereneSadie@quokk.au 14 points 1 day ago

This is the answer.

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

I prefer prison for criminals. Deportation just makes them someone else's problem and let's them influence from the outside.

The Trump regime started this shit and she's pro Trump. I reckon she should be forced to eat her own dog food, and so should all the MAGAts - until they all turn against Trump and we can all agree to go back to the rule of law.

I think she should be as affected by the policy of the party she is supporting now as any other immigrant that have a lot less power and influence.

[–] cazssiew@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

I am entirely for the exclusion of exclusionary people, yes.

[–] starik@lemmy.zip 33 points 1 day ago

It’s called a joke. Leftists and liberals are not calling for the deportation of all immigrants with right wing views. This petition, which everyone who signed understands has zero chance of being acted upon, was to remind one specific high profile MAGA celebrity that she is exactly the type of person her new “friends” hate. If she wasn’t famous, they’d be trying to ship her back to Trinidad or to some foreign prison.

No but it's still really really funny 😆

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

It's called "taste of their own medicine". We could be angry at a legit good option to remove troubling people. Piers Morgan can go fuck off back to England. Jordan Peterson can get fucked back to Canada. Andrew Tate can go back to the swamp and stop being anorexic Shrek. We can finally get rid of problems that doesn't require incarceration or dead bodies.

Yes. And when MAGA is no longer a thing, everyone one of them should be scooped up by ICE and deported to Russia.

Preferably from 5000 ft above land without a parachute.

And then every ice member criminally prosecuted after.

Supporting racist fascists isnt just "a political viewpoint" my dude. Its the reason you will be lynched after the regime is toppled.

[–] HuntressHimbo@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 day ago

No. This type of state violence shouldn't be inflicted on anyone regardless. When it comes to defending people from being the target of this state violence though, she is at the bottom of the list being both a supporter of it herself and unimaginably wealthy

It's okay to deport Nazis.

Just because it’s not MAGA doing it doesn’t somehow make it a good thing.
