Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

In this case, it was referencing internal ugliness.

[–] Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 4 days ago

The whole world is cheering for it.

If there’s any evidence against psychic powers or witchcraft it’s that he’s still alive.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Obviously all the prayers by the good Christians have protected him.

[–] anton@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

But who in good standing with god would pray for Kissinger?
Fucker obviously had a pakt to ravage the earth for a hundred years.

2nd Thesalonians 2:8-12:

8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

I'm not so sure. Last I heard of witches they hexed Charlie kirk and a couple of weeks later that paid off. Maybe none of us have asked?

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

We may have enough samples to be statistically significant.

[–] zikzak025@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Or it just means that he has sufficiently weaponized psychic powers and witchcraft to protect him.

[–] bizarroland@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Or that he sold his soul to the devil, and so the devil is protecting him in order to protect his investment.

"This is a Fox News SPECIAL REPORT!!!

Satan is saying he's stuck at the White House because he's pregnant with Trump's butt baby!"

Breaking News:
A press release just came in from Satan himself. It says "Don't be so cruel. I have had nothing to do with that orange thing. This one is all on you guys! Don't blame me."

I ask that if and when it happens I hope all medical staff including receptionists, nurses, doctors all say "No thanks/I refuse" to accepting their money and requests for service.

[–] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 28 points 1 week ago (1 children)

For real, do you want to be on the hook for trying to save the dictator? Let's say you do save him and him and his regime go on to kill more and destroy society. The guilt normal people would feel would be astronomical. On the other hand, let's say you take your oath to heart and do everything to save him, and he still dies. His cult would make your life a living hell. Then there's pulling a Hide from The Office or Chase from House. The latter point still stands. There is no winning from helping him.

[–] arudesalad@piefed.ca 27 points 1 week ago

It's like Stalin's doctors all being to scared to help him because if they fucked up and he still lived they'd get purged.

[–] Ioughttamow@fedia.io 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I’d love for him to survive, paralyzed, but he needs to go so I’ll take whichever

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

His progeny will carry his legacy. Fuck, generations of people will carry it in one form or another. I can't think of a more divisive character in modern history to be honest. Although I don't know much about politics and such outside of this hellscape.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Bang. Spot on.
I'd rather him be dead than alive but if no one does anything about his scummy vomited out kids, or his enablers, then all it does is give the world a short reprieve until the next Hitler wannabe steps up.
And the next person will be more cunning and less of an imbecile than that orange child rapist.

Say what you will about the crimes from all sides during the October Revolution, there ain't any royal Romanovs anymore. Something to think about.

[–] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago (5 children)

What kind of ugly are we talkin' here? The kind that you inherit or the kind you choose to be?

IMO, it really is what's on the inside that counts. Doubly so, in this case.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 8 points 6 days ago

So ugly on the inside that they shared "wonderful secrets' with 'nubile enigmas' with his best mate Jeffery Epstein...

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

In this case it's definitely both.

[–] webp@mander.xyz 24 points 1 week ago
[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ugly in every possible way.

[–] bizarroland@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (2 children)

The only ugly is ugly on the inside.

There may be people that you don't find personally attractive who are actually the sweetest and kindest most lovable people on the planet, and so they are quite beautiful, even though you don't want to have sex with them.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 8 points 1 week ago

That's not who we're talking about, though.

[–] too_high_for_this@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Nah, some good people are fucking ugly

You're not wrong in the brutal truth of human opinions and interactions but, also:

"You're not ugly, you're poor."

https://youtu.be/A295YT2yd_A

Actually very worth a watch, brought up quite a lot of points I hadn't really considered before.

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

The particular person in question is miraculously both independently and a surprising third combination of the two
