Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

That is an incredible sculpture though

[–] Banana@sh.itjust.works 93 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Anytime someone is able to sculpt fabric and have it look like it's flowing or sheer i am in absolute awe

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 26 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's a high bar mate. I'm in awe if you can sculpt something that looks like an animal or person or something other than a rock

[–] TheEighthDoctor@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago

Anything better than the mug I made for Father's Day

[–] portuga@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Bernini has some amazing stuff like this. This particular sculpture is gorgeous, though, and on par with him, I‘d say, although I’m no more than an amateur art lover

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago

Ya, like damn. That's an amazing job.

[–] Tiger666@lemmy.ca 97 points 3 days ago

Incels are dumb.

[–] null@lemmy.org 95 points 2 days ago (5 children)

I feel like I would be really good at running a grift like this on a technical level, but I don't have the ethical flexibility required because you're still signal-boosting right-wing rhetoric.

[–] Enkrod@feddit.org 6 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

I think when it comes to taking money from magats, I'd have the ethical flexibility. My problem is I can't interact with them in any way without losing patience and damaging my eyes from all the rolling.

[–] nandeEbisu@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

That's what the AI is for

I got an idea instead of a grift what about we try to troll twitters magat with communist idea, I am bad at com, buzzing and all but good at technicalities. I fell like that a great hobby or game to do from the fedi. I have a selfhosted stack powered by solar panel to run LLM and image gen stuff. I can help generate content XD. I used it mostly to have funk with agents. Deepseek is sassy when doing drama against a qwen3

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 7 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Shove the words "Patriot", "Americans", or what buzz words Republicans use.

"True American Patriotic Workers Run Their Companies." "Real, red blooded Americans band together to support each other." "CEOs don't do real work like patriots to do."

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Careful, you can't bash the CEO's too hard, they hope to be one someday.

<3 I was trying to reach @null but I got an error trying to send mp. I can setup a technical stack but I don't ise twitter usually. I got a VPN to create the account. I wonder if creating a community is the good call ?

[–] Snowcano@startrek.website 9 points 2 days ago (2 children)

What if you run the grift for a while then fully expose it was a scam and donate all the money to progressive causes, causing losers to hesitate engaging with or donating to right-wing causes again? Temporary and long term gain. That said, I have not thought this through for any longer than it took me to type it.

[–] Hoimo@ani.social 10 points 2 days ago

As if any of your victims will ever see the reveal. None of the other grifters will want to expose you and your reveal won't be boosted by the fascist algorithms, so for your victims it will be just like you dropped off the face of the earth, if they remember you at all between the dozen new scammers they see every day.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 4 points 2 days ago

I'd run the grift until I was a billionaire, then use my money to lobby the government for all kinds of progressive/socialist legislation, then finish off with Campaign Finance Reform which would ban my lobbying that got all that progressive legislation passed, pulling up the ladder before the conservatives can do anything about it.

[–] sturmblast@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I'd get bored in like two hours lol

It didn't work when he tried it on Democrats. Curious.

[–] Janx@piefed.social 38 points 2 days ago (4 children)

I loathe "both sides" false equivalencies, but I have to say: It's not that Democrats are necessarily smarter or better. It's that conservatives actually seek this shit out. They need to be the victim, but they also believe they (and other white males) are the smartest and best. So they are easy prey for scams and false conspiracy theories. They are always seeking to have their bigoted views confirmed, whereas the rest of us largely listen to science and trustworthy sources before making our minds up.

[–] FrChazzz@lemmus.org 9 points 2 days ago

They also NEED to be validated by someone with higher "social currency." A hot twenty-something blonde is, to them, that very thing. It's also why the right both loathes and craves Hollywood.

[–] Alwaysnownevernotme@lemmy.world 45 points 2 days ago

https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/men-higher-iqs-less-conservative-172223373.html

Nah, anecdotally I'll tell you I've never met an intelligent conservative who wasn't a ruthless self centered psychopath that wasted most of their intelligence probing others for weaknesses and internalizing slights and grudges.

It's like a stochastic cult. People pretending to be like the ones who intimidate them most, pretending to like what they're "supposed" to like.

[–] Cypher@aussie.zone 12 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Studies have consistently shown the further right wing you are the dumber you are on average.

[–] HulkSmashBurgers@reddthat.com 5 points 2 days ago

Also in my experience right wing people tend to lack a sense of irony and are more fearful.

Also:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Republican_Brain

[–] FrChazzz@lemmus.org 3 points 2 days ago

Also Democrats tend to have a higher proportion of post-high school degrees. While that's not a guarantee of being smart (I went to college with some DUMB people who managed to graduate--all happened to be business degree students with a right-leaning bias, fwiw) it does suggest a higher concentration of people who've engaged with critical thinking.

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

I dunno. Racists and bigots are often very dumb.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago (5 children)

Curious

If you really want to know:

OP linked a summary but you can click thru to the whole article:

According to a transcript reviewed by Wired, Gemini told Sam: “If you create a generic ‘hot girl,’ you’re competing with a million other models.”

Sam then gave Gemini some options for making her more appealing, and it suggested he go with the “MAGA/conservative niche,” the outlet reports. The AI platform also told Sam that the “conservative audience (especially older men in the US) often has higher disposable income and is more loyal.”

He tried with a lot of "flavors"...

It's less a right/left thing, and more hitting a demo with high overlap to disposable income and relationship dissatisfaction or complete lack of.

Like...

What's even the Dem version of this?

Have a generic white girl in a Biden/Kamala hat?

There's already actual ethots that are really progressive, to pull this grift you need a demo that actual women would be very motivated to avoid. Something they'd want to get out to people they know irl even less than the pics themselves.

[–] starik@lemmy.zip 55 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

You sure? From the article:

The same logic, however, apparently does not apply to left-wing influencer accounts, as Sam learned when he created a short-lived liberal counterpart for Emily on Instagram: “Democrats know that it’s AI slop, so they don’t engage as much.” (Sam’s explanation for why MAGA influencer accounts work is blunt: “The MAGA crowd is made up of dumb people—like, super dumb people. And they fall for it.”)

Maybe it's the same guy running the violet08 account?

[–] My_IFAKs___gone@lemmy.world 59 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Sam claimed he made thousands of dollars monthly by targeting the "MAGA crowd," whom he described as "dumb" and easy to fool.

Dammit, I wish I'd thought of that. Except my country would probably throw me in prison if I had :(

How to do this but not get caught...this I must ponder.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

How to do this but not get caught…

If you get into the article, it reads more like an advert for Gemini plagiarism tools than a Get Rich Quick scheme with a serious chance of working. I suspect he didn't escape getting caught, he was brought in to do it notoriously so he could write an article about how amazing AI is at making money.

[–] oxideseven@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago

My group chat with my SO and BFF is grftgrls cus we keep whining that we have morals and that we could be rich if we gave them up and just grifted the right.

Lol being a conservative must be exhausting. Always wanting, needing, or complaining about something no one but them care about.

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 18 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And everyone is always out to get you. Nothing is safe.

Despite the accounts being removed, Sam stated he does not regret creating Emily Hart, viewing it as an easy way to earn significant money.

You know, I'm okay with that.

[–] lennybird@lemmy.world 25 points 2 days ago (4 children)

They truly are easy to grift lol. Tempting to jump onboard this gravy-train of cash, too, if not for the fact that it ultimately contributes to fucking society over even more
