Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

This is such typical dumb dictator shit -- Assad, Saddam, Pol Pot, Qaddafi, etc. Dictators do this all the time, look at my picture, look at my statue, look at me look at me aren't I so powerful

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 3 points 11 hours ago

Appear weak when you are strong, appear strong when you are weak.

[–] GardenGeek@europe.pub 9 points 18 hours ago

There's a german word for this: Führerkult.

A common denominator of dictatorships and facist regimes of all kind.

[–] stumu415@lemmy.zip 32 points 1 day ago

There was another guy in the late 1930's to 1940's in Germany who also put his face on everything.

[–] MajinBlayze@lemmy.world 78 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Oh no. My passport is about to expire and I do need it renewed. I can't have that man's face on my gd passport

[–] Asfalttikyntaja@sopuli.xyz 3 points 12 hours ago

If I understand correctly, this face is only a passports from Washington?

[–] CorrectAlias@piefed.blahaj.zone 78 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

It's only from in person applicants at the DC office. As long as you don't go there to renew it, you won't get his dumb pedo face on yours.

[–] MajinBlayze@lemmy.world 36 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Good to know. That's what I get for not R'ing the F'ing Article

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If you wanted to be extra safe, you could just "lose" it now.

[–] protist@retrofed.com 7 points 1 day ago

Don't have to lose it, can just renew it early

[–] Embargo@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago (2 children)

TIL that R'ing means reading and not raping.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I never rape the fucking article.

[–] Embargo@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (1 children)

Phew! I was concerned for the article's well-being.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 7 points 1 day ago

The article has ways of shutting that down.

[–] masterofn001@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 day ago

Unless you're a president in the rapeublican party.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 24 points 1 day ago

These will be collected decades from now like some people collect Nazi memorabilia.

[–] Bloefz@lemmy.world 12 points 22 hours ago

Celebrating the start with the person who ended it?

[–] Fishnoodle@lemmy.world 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Can you choose to get a real passport instead?

[–] BryyM@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

There's like 200 others to choose from, move wisely and decisively

[–] YurkshireLad@lemmy.ca 30 points 1 day ago

This is how I assume a Russian passport would look.

[–] IAmYouButYouDontKnowYet@reddthat.com 31 points 1 day ago (3 children)

America as a whole is delusional and mental ill.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Enh. Not all the people all of the time.

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 1 points 1 day ago

Just the overwhelming majority most of the time. Trumpism is just a symptom. Theyve all been sickos for a long long time.

[–] CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

It wasn't meant to last. It won't

[–] GarboDog@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

If we get this in the updated passport: we can and will rip this page out

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 2 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

If you don't need a valid passport than yes, you can totally do it.

[–] GarboDog@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago

Hhhh fuck your right… thankfully we have a brand new passport already and hopefully when it’s needing a new one the page would be redesigned or better yet removed =w=;;

[–] WaxRhetorical@lemmy.world 1 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

Passport pages are numbered. Ripping one out may get you detained and questioned somewhere.

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 2 points 13 hours ago

And the passport will most likely be declared invalid.

[–] GarboDog@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago

Didn’t know that. That just makes the whole thing more annoying hhh

[–] Grimy@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 22 hours ago

Lovely depictions of a doctor and a mayor

[–] TheReturnOfPEB@reddthat.com 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

the point is to make travel for people who don't like him even more pain in the ass

any population that can travel freely can protest

any population that can't freely travel cain't

[–] SomeoneSomewhere@lemmy.nz 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

As noted elsewhere, there's only 25-30k total being produced and only for people who apply in person in DC. You're not going to get one of these unexpectedly.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mean, odds are somebody is going to apply in person in DC without realizing it's a thing. Just not most people.

[–] SomeoneSomewhere@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 day ago

I'm guessing they would ask you first (and the office would be slathered in Trump-Passport posters).

I am somewhat surprised it's not just a 'which one would you like'. I wouldn't have thought the logistical concerns would be that major?

I think the point is to make it more likely that people who like Trump will get passports, and less likely for people who don't like Trump. Then when you say that voters need to have passports to vote, you have a structural advantage.

Isn't the image of his 'stern look' taken from his mugshot?

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

I had to renew mine this year and the first thing I did when I got it was to check for bullshit like this.

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

No fucking thanks

[–] desmosthenes@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago
[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

If the US can decide my passport isn't valid because it has an F on it, other countries should be able to decide any passport with his shit smear on it is also invalid.

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 4 points 1 day ago

Countries can refuse a passport for any reason.

[–] kalapala@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 day ago

This is something that will eventually rise in value. The same way as nazi memorabilia did.

[–] Deadeyegai@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Yeah HAARRRRD PASS

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago
[–] vapeloki@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] qprimed@lemmy.ml 18 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

the entire country is a fucking joke.

edit: I know the above is a flippant, throw-away comment, but jfc... anyone that supports the murder, the grift, the petty bullshit and threat of the boot on your face is an unserious human being. I am ashamed and disgusted to be trapped in this rathole with them.

I hope the world can continue on without the USA, because we have fucked this planet without a kiss and are now in the process of showing our ass to the world before we jump out of the fucking window.

fuck.
