Worth remembering that this is a story about an AI company preying on the emotional vulnerability of an elderly widow.
Sharon was the brains behind Ozzy. Milking him for profit was why she was the real bread winner of the family. Ozzy would love it.

I suspect that it was this way because he knew exactly that he would have died long ago from his drug abuse if it weren't for her. That she was good at using him so they could pay their bills was just an extra.
Yeah I mean at that age she probably can't really tell the difference between this technology and any other, it's like something from the Sharper Image catalog or some shit. I guess I can see how older folks could get caught up in it. But you have to take a step back from the novelty sometimes.
