Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

What was peaceful protest supposed to be a replacement for? I forget.

Rioting. Burning down the government, and hanging/decapitating the rich.

I guess they want that rolled back to the old methods as well.

America needs to hire the French to do their revolution for them.

France used me to undermine their British enemy and all I got was this lousy ~~tshirt~~ statue.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 10 points 5 days ago

They want 1939, give 'em 1789.

[–] Town@lemmy.zip 18 points 5 days ago (1 children)

They feel protected because they think a violent populist reaction will be a few more lone actors.

[–] CobraCommander@quokk.au 11 points 5 days ago (1 children)

And as long as Dems keep pushing the “violence is bad and what he wants, just vote and primary people” narrative it will be.

[–] chaogomu@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Well, the Dems are sort of right, violence is bad, and it is exactly what the fascists want, but it's also the only way that oligarchs have ever been removed from power. They never go willingly.

[–] CobraCommander@quokk.au 15 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Violence is a tool, one they want only for themselves to use against the people to maintain their power.

[–] badgermurphy@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago

Sadly for them, you can't stop desperate people from getting violent no matter how many laws you make or civil liberties you gut.

Its a tale as old as the human race: take too much from everyone, and they'll eventually burn it down so everyone gets nothing and we try again.

France would protect the pedophile culture. Might want a different example.

That's why it is FREE speech, you need to get the PRO speech plan, it's only 19.99 a month and you get all the FREE speech perks + one extra slur a month!

Do I get to choose the slur, or is it on a rotating basis?

Okay... So from what I read, they sat in front of the bus to keep people from being shipped to a detention center. A fairly peaceful action.

So if that's no longer allowed, guess then you might as well storm the bus, kill all the ICE and then drive it to Canada or Mexico.

Fascism is really a thing in USA now!!

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 16 points 5 days ago (1 children)
[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

It always was.
But it was supposed to be declining as society improved.
But either society didn't improve because fascism and selfishness didn't decline, or else it's the other way around.
Because it seems to be getting shittier on both counts. But AFAIK it was never so much out in the open as it is now.

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 23 points 5 days ago (1 children)

If we had a normal Supreme Court this should go there. But now…. ?

[–] btsax@reddthat.com 7 points 5 days ago

Most people think the Supreme Court will always act like the Warren Court when in reality, with the exception of those 20 or so years, it's been nothing but reactionary and conservative at best. Dredd Scott anyone?

[–] Bluedragon012@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

I'll sharpen the blades.
