I had a doctor's appointment and got to buy pizza at the hospital. I also got to see my nephews cause my sister was my ride. Also it was fir a blood test and the results were all good. It was really quick too.

I was able to fix a thing at work! And someone said "thank you"! The former happens less often than I'd like.

Got my monthly compliment on my looks. I'm male.

I'm a regular in a little Portuguese cafΓ©, I always order a GalΓ£o and a tomato mozzarella Ciabatta. They display the Ciabatta in a basket out front and sometimes they're empty when I come and I order a toast instead. Well this time the basket was empty I was about to order a toast but the cashier smiled at me and said 'I saved a Ciabatta for you in the kitchen.' That was really heartwarming :)

Nah, that's just the portuguese way.

[–] xSikes@feddit.online 4 points 2 days ago

I bet that felt awesome. Super cool

The cat puked 1 foot away from the carpet, on the linoleum kitchen floor

[–] xSikes@feddit.online 4 points 2 days ago

I hope you rewarded your cat. I’ll take that any day.

That's amazing! Mine not so much. Right off the top of the tall cat tree. Had to clean the tree, cat bed, cat carrier (it's a nice one I leave out for them), robot vacuum, the floor, the wall, and the trim.

It wasn't even that much it just went so far.

That's wonderful news!

Our racecar got it's vest lap times ever tonight! My dads been working hard on getting it setup just right. Just wish I could've been there to see it. We still finished last but any improvement is great. The car is where it needs to be, the driver just needs to figure out how to drive lol.

Spent the last week in hospital, made a new friend there and got told my symptoms are not due to a stroke as was expected. Still looking for a cause but was able to go home and cuddle my kids again. :)

[–] greatwhitebuffalo41@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Crossing my fingers for future answers that are relatively good! But I'm glad you're home!

I have no idea what your symptoms were but I ended up in the hospital several times for related symptoms that turned out to be an ischaemic migraine with aura. Thankfully I no longer get the eschemic part just the migraine with aura. So no more face and arm going numb and forgetting how to speak and feeling like my brain has turned to mashed potatoes.

Just wanted to throw that out there in case you wanted to look that up and see if your symptoms match. Doctors are much more knowledgeable about those these days so I hope they would've told you about that if those were your symptoms but, I found out from my eye doctor because several ER doctors had never heard of it.

[–] Nomad@infosec.pub 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Thanks for your input and care. And yes they told me. My symptoms are pretty unusual in terms of migraines, they tend to stay to long and I have no headaches. This is possible but rare.

The fact that its but life threatening is enough for me for now. I will let the process of elimination take its its course and try to reduce stress where I can to keep the anxiety down as much as possible.

Its still possible my emotional health is causing this, but I'm betting on my neck for the next checks.

[–] greatwhitebuffalo41@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Idk if you have PTSD or CPTSD but one of my good friend is having something similar. Her neurologist thinks it's related to her (quite aggressive) PTSD. Thankfully the neurologist wasn't all "it's all in your head." So she's getting a full work up next week including MRIs and various nerve testing stuff that I personally don't understand lol.

If she learns anything interesting or a specific test can rule anything in or out, I'll come back to your comment here and let you know. Obviously, follow your doctor's advice but, more info can sometimes help.

Sincerely, good luck. I hope they find the cause and theyre able to help you. Health things like this are absolutely terrifying. Your feelings, whatever they may be, are valid. Wishing you the best of luck! ❀️

[–] Nomad@infosec.pub 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Thanks that may be true. I have lived through some pretty bad stuff emotionally the last few years with a lot of really bad panic about losing my kids and my home. Might be possible. Weird is that the neighbors wife has the exact same symptoms and progression...

Oh, that does add a twist to everything =\

[–] xSikes@feddit.online 3 points 2 days ago

Sounds like a double positive!

Bill Murray randomly walked onto my train car with a camera crew and I was briefly in the presence of greatness.

He came to my town a few years ago. Dude was magic at showing up at a bar without being noticed until he wanted to be. Then magically he's just gone. Then he'd appear at another one. Guess he was enjoying buying strangers their drinks and disappearing.

I know! That’s what’s great about it. But it really is true, and it was literally the only good thing that ever happened on my commute.

That is a super cool encounter. πŸ˜„

I was just joking around with my previous comment. From here πŸ™ƒ

I bought new boots, and they are a huge upgrade for my old boots. I should have done this years ago! So much lighter, so much more comfortable.

Also, my backyard apricot tree produced a fantastic crop this year. The freezer is full of fruit for making jam in autumn when the weather is cooler, and the dehydrator has been running nightly.

[–] lonefighter@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Your apricots are beautiful!

And yay, new work boots! I just got new work boots too. They're the same as my old boots, because my old boots lasted me years of heavy abuse and were super comfortable but I didn't realize how much the tread had worn down on the old ones. The new ones are so much thicker as a result and the first day I wore I put them on and almost fell face first down the stairs outside my apartment at 5 am. I actually fell up the stairs a couple days ago and of course some guy I didn't know was right behind me watching.

[–] kersploosh@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Yeah, a good pair of boots is a wonderful thing. "Never cheap out on anything that separates you from the ground" and all that. My old pair are heavy-duty hiking boots that have taken me all over the mountains. But my feet are getting wider as I get older. A bad blister last week finally spurred me to shop for something new.

[–] pbjelly@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Whoa!!! I love apricots! For some reason, it’s not a popular tree to grow at home in comparison to lemon, lime, plum, fig, or even loquat.

Is the care/climate needs similar to other stone fruits?

[–] kersploosh@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

My region is known for cherries and (to a lesser extent) peaches. So as far as climate goes, I would say they fit right in with other stone fruit.

As for care, I am a clumsy and sometimes negligent caretaker. The tree is well established in my backyard and does not seem to need much aside from water. I prune it every year or two (my pruning jobs are ugly but the tree doesn't seem to care). The biggest chore is picking up all of the fallen fruit before it attracts too many wasps.

[–] pbjelly@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

Ooo that’s dope! There are farms that grow em in my area but I always thought it was interesting that people aren’t as into growing them at home.

I guess if one didn’t have a ton of space, a lemon tree is really handy haha.

My fledgling tropical aquarium fish eshop got another order, a pretty big one!

[–] daggermoon@piefed.world 6 points 2 days ago

Awwww I like fishies

[–] FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

That's awesome. Setting out on a new business venture is so fun. Pretty niche business, too. Very cool 😎

Finally finished mixing/mastering my new EP and I uploaded it to my distributor for release mid-August. It was three months of working on it every weekend. Glad I’m finally done.

Been job-hunting for the past 6 months. I'm a starter SWE. I do have a semi relevant job and other experiences, but still it's tough. I got a callback this monday from a application I did with a company that had no job openings. I just liked the company. They also liked me, aparently. I'm going there monday to have a chat.

Crossing my fingers for you! I've been looking in my field for 4 months. I have a maybe from a company I never thought id even get an interview with. I say maybe because 4 people who work there have told me interview to a job offer takes 3-4 months. I've been told if they haven't rejected me yet, I've got it. 🀞🀞

I've just started a week off from work!

[–] xSikes@feddit.online 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Don’t forget to spend time to decompress!

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

No worries there. That's pretty much the only thing I don't forget to do!

[–] yesman@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

That means the universe owes you good weeks in the future

[–] nocturne@slrpnk.net 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I certainly hope so. I applied for a job I was perfectly qualified to perform, and was asked to apply by the person who would be my boss, but did not get the job.

I also submitted an application for the university in town and missed the entrance requirements for gpa by 0.1.

Man that sucks I'm sorry. This job market sucks though.
