They already believe, and behave, as if they're being persecuted, even when they're not. We're already seeing the results of their mental illness. Might as well actually help the rest of society by making them see what it actually looks like.
one problem with that. when ever something like this happens and they face consequences they just avoid, deflect and distract.
the moment it occurs they will just make the world's biggest outcry that draw attention away while they do something criminally horrible to the people making them face consequences and get away with it as no one is paying attention...
We don't even need to build our own system. Flock data is owned by the government, and thus available for the public to request via FOIA

Except these cameras are likely excluded from areas that lawmakers exist in. It would be dystopian to expect elected officials to live under surveillance Of their every move! /s
I live a couple blocks from my state governor and there are plenty of Flock cams here. I'm sure the private gated suburbs might not have them inside, but they will be on the roads connecting between them, so FOIA is actually a great idea.
Actually, many HOAs have been installing Flock cameras because that shit is right up the alley of something an HOA president would want.
Surely they have their own cameras on the inside, Ring doorbell cams etc.
The article mentioned that citizens can opt their privately-owned cameras into the system. Now I'm curious - in places with that kind of system what is the rate of opt-ins among those with power vs. the general population.
Where I live there is a bridge that is the only way out of the city on the North and East. I can guarantee elected officials are using it too
It has a Flock camera on either side. Also the main road along the river has 3 cameras covering a 360 degree view

Yeah this data is owned by Flock which is why they've been selling it to organizations like ICE.
FOIA requests don't allow redacted and private contracts involving the armed forces... this is how Lockheed hides alot...
flock is still independent, you won't get anything. but good news. you don't have to. the cameras hold footage for weeks and you can locally get it.
Also a lot of conservatives- especially conservative politicians- maybe need the ah, "oversight".

Oh yes I too would like to add this to my blocklist, for sure.
Gave me the idea to do a FOIA on all flock hits on the mayors car. Simple enough to create a image showing where he goes, how long he stays, patterns, stores he visits, where he eats, his Bluetooth devices,WiFi devices, maybe some MAC addresses.
See how he feels about that being perfectly legal.

Point of order: politicians should have a healthy fear of crossing their constituents. Politicians are not special, and if they think they are, they must be reminded - forcefully, if necessary - that they are not. If a politician responds to something with “we’re gonna get you”… well, that’s a two-way street. Check yourself before you wreck yourself.
Politicians should get a pay raise. Under the agreement their actions, movements and motivations as well as how they use their money is largely public information.
If it is found out you hid or lied about any of that. Prison time and removal from office as well as handing that office to a 3rd party candidate from one of the other established political parties.
It should be ENTIRELY public info. If you are going to be handed the power to inflict your views on an entire constituency, you lose the right to hide anything you do. There can be no place to hide malfeasance or they will use it. If they are unwilling to sacrifice their privacy, they can stay home. They are not being forced to seek public office.
100% any argument for privacy can lick my privacy. The least private citizens should be the ones leading. I think there should be less legal protections for these individuals. They have shown those positions cannot be trusted
We should just start putting up our own cameras right next to theirs that they can't access. I mean, it's basically what they are already doing to us so I feel like it's totally fair.

We've only got Petrosky's word that the council-people were concerned by this at all.
I'm inclined to believe him about their reaction. Pretty easy to imagine a small town council having either a lack of perspective or complete ignorance when approving it.
And will those city council members have learned anything from this? Of course not.
Many cities have already cancelled Flock contracts after people spoke out at council meetings
