No, Sir, officer.

I would never. Neither will most of the good men and women here.

Take your fishing expedition elsewhere.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

i don't think i need to.

by the time i make it out to destroy them, the high schoolers will have destroyed them already.

as we have said before, the kids are alright. the flock camera out by the unofficial kids' rifle shooting range by the tracks is always full of holes. on halloween i'm sure that's going to be all of them around the county (these kids got minibikes)

[–] caboose2006@lemmy.world 18 points 8 hours ago

I hear all flock vandalisms have been done by Benjamin Netanyahu. And from what I can tell he's going to be very busy Oct 31st

[–] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 184 points 1 day ago (12 children)

Please do not post about the crimes you plan to commit on social media, friends. Cops would love it if you posted about the crimes you intend to commit.

[–] brown567@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 hours ago

Can I post about crimes I have absolutely no intention of committing? Just to kinda muddy the water?

[–] veryblandusername@fedinsfw.app 12 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Just because it's super important.

DO NOT TALK ABOUT CRIMES YOU COMMIT OR POST THEM ON SOCIAL MEDIA.

There are two types of criminals, those that keep their mouth shut and those getting arrested.

If you somehow get approached by police, DO NOT SPEAK TO THEM AT ALL. Explicitly state that you want a lawyer to represent you and that you will not be speaking or answering any questions. The only questions you have to legally answer (in most jurisdictions) is to identify yourself. Once you have done that, ask for a lawyer and SHUT THE FUCK UP.

There's a time and place to talk and it's with your lawyer present.

[–] BlackPenguins@lemmy.world 5 points 2 hours ago

And even that, you only NEED to identify in a traffic stop. A cop cannot just ask for your ID as you walk down the street without reasonable suspicion of a crime. That's the fourth amendment. Ask the crime you committed, get it all on video, because if they didn't have that suspicion you got a civil lawsuit.

No one's doing that here, I just like sharing tips about home improvement. For example, did you know that spray foam insulation can be found at basically any hardware store, and can be used to close up gaps in your home? It's better to get the closed-cell type, as it dries into a stiffer, more durable material that lasts longer. You can also find sprayers that have long hoses for insulating the difficult-to-reach areas of your home.

Also the liquid and fumes aren't good for you, so make sure you use it in a well-ventilated environment and wear appropriate protective clothing like gloves, high-coverage sleeves, and a mask as needed.

[–] teslekova@lemmy.ml 7 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

What do I do if I want to reach a high area in my roof, like ten feet above me? Hose extensions are floppy.

[–] queerlilhayseed@piefed.blahaj.zone 5 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

If you can find the kind that has a rigid wand like this, that would be easiest. gwcrmTCC0wJ0evI.jpg

But if you're using a can or small sprayer, I think your best bet would be a lightweight, collapsible stepladder. They make some that are easy enough to carry around with you so you can insulate your entire home without having to carry a lot of heavy equipment.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

ooo, i bet i could fit like three of those backpacks into the crate of my cargo bike. caulking aside (and who doesn't love talking about good caulk), that is giving me pest control ideas. also croissant or pancake ideas for some reason i don't know why we'd need that kind of wand but i know why we'd need that much liquid butter/batter.

is there a specific name for those backpack containers or are they just "backpack jugs"

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 1 points 4 hours ago

just diy an extension with some electrical conduit or PVC pipe or something

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world -1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

...so what? It's foam. It's not special glass and metal bonding foam, it's just foam.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

we're talking about caulk dude

[–] LostCarcosan@lemmy.today 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

the caulk aisle is the best aisle in the hardware store. get to buy some thicker, fatter caulk.

[–] Signtist@bookwyr.me 63 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah. They also love it when there's a specific date to ensure they have extra patrols nearby. Rebellions need to be unexpected and anonymous - an event that people are encouraged to publicly post about and participate in sounds like a trap.

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 29 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Eh they can't be everywhere at once. If there's no specific location I don't think it matters too much.

[–] Signtist@bookwyr.me 29 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Sure, but they can increase the amount of cops working that night, and make sure that stay near the cameras. Might not make much of a difference in big cities, but smaller towns that only have a few cameras will probably be watched with much more scrutiny.

[–] lemmylump@lemmy.world 26 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Devil's night and Halloween are already their busiest days.

[–] glitch1985@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

Especially with all the razor blades being put into caramel apples and prescription pills added to prepackaged candy

[–] turtlesareneat@piefed.ca 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah any community that dedicates officers to watch cameras on halloween and then sees a kid run over is going to have a serious fucking shitshow on their hands, so I doubt they'll be watching them.

our community got its officers out on the streets on halloween and we've had far fewer incidents.

hard to tell whether this is part of the underlying trend toward less crime or a result of that specific action, as i'm not a crimeologist, but when i smell ~~correlations~~ shit i point at it.

And please leave your phone and other devices at home if you're doing this. Flock cameras detect and track nearby phones.

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 24 points 1 day ago (4 children)

I plan to spend a quiet evening at home, giving candy to children. Just like everyone else as far as I'm concerned.

[–] IzzyScissor@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

Yep. And my cell phone records will prove that.

[–] Lennny@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

Same. I might read my sere training manual that evening.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 9 points 23 hours ago

Well said, fellow law-abiding citizen.

[–] DigDoug@lemmy.world 25 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

I won't because I don't live in a police state, but I'm rooting for everybody who does.

[–] unitedwithme@lemmy.today 5 points 20 hours ago

Illinois has them EVERYWHERE 🤮😭

[–] Danarchy@lemmy.nz 17 points 22 hours ago

Im the one whose gonna be committing all these crimes so if you do any of these crimes I actually did them hahaha I am targeting every single flock camera in America even though I am not there I have my ways you will never catch me even tho it is definitely me doing all of it

[–] Tiral@lemmy.world 8 points 20 hours ago

It's weird. All the ones near my neighborhood were cut one night and took an absurd amount of damage falling. Almost like they were hit with a bat or 3.

[–] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 12 points 21 hours ago (3 children)

I've seen evidence that the fastest way to cut down aluminum pipes is a circular saw. Sawzaws and portable band saws gum up the blades and slow down the cut. Not related, just thought you should know.

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

Well, yes circular saw would be good and way more compact than a sawz all, but you'll still want a metal blade. The default for any saw will probably be for wood, or maybe a wood and nail blade. That'll take a year and a half to cut through one, and then be ruined.

[–] Ludicrous0251@piefed.zip 10 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

I had a dream once about someone cutting vertical pipes just for giggles, and he would always press against the pipe with a gloved hand (gloved for safety reasons), or have a friend do it (also gloved). Dream person told me the force on the pole was to keep the metal pole from biting down on the blade causing binding.

They said they also prefer a circular saw, but aluminum is pretty soft so you could even cut it with a hand saw if being quiet is more important to you than being quick.

[–] NOPper@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

I found a good deal on large diameter pipe cutters, and I like that they are very silent and surprisingly quick to use so I don't disturb my neighbors when I am doing large scale plumbing in my basement.

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Could you link? All I'm seeing are soft tube or copper pipe cutters, which, no way in hell.

Crime later? Email your city leaders today! And next week, and the week after… show your face too when you can: no votes for Flock supporters.

[–] vrek@programming.dev 17 points 1 day ago (12 children)

Anyone who damages these cameras was actually at my Halloween party, they had 2 drinks and were dressed as a hamburger. They slept here and left the next morning.

I can't, we had them removed already.

[–] Fishnoodle@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago

A better question is, "will I support any flash in the pan movement that calls for the public to disguise themselves for any reason?" Yes. And if anything illegal happens that negatively impacts America's domestic enemies in the process, then that's just the price of freedom, and the only thing i witnessed was groups of middle aged men in red hats committing crimes.

They were all white, 55 years or older, dressed in red hats screaming Trump 2028, and they were responsible for all the damage

[–] 01189998819991197253@infosec.pub 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So, Purge. But for Flock. I'm down.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

On the one night of the year that it isn't suspicious at all to go walking around wearing a mask the whole time. Smart.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 7 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Well, I was planning on being an ICE Agent for Halloween.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 5 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

If you want to dress up as a monster that's an easy way to do it.
