During a Tuesday hearing at the 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, the DOJ urged a three-judge panel to issue an emergency stay of a lower court order and allow the Trump administration’s deployment of the California National Guard to continue in Los Angeles — going so far as to argue a president’s federalization of militia can’t be second-guessed by the courts, even if the chief executive mobilized forces from all 50 states and Washington, D.C., simultaneously.

The time to rebel is now

These people want you dead

Arm yourselves.

Do not go quietly when they come for you

Drag one with you to your grave

My state says I have to pay a tax, do live fire training, get 2 background checks and wait several weeks before I can arm myself.

Guess we will just die.

Oh and I can't carry it virtually anywhere. Maybe to the range if its unloaded and locked and ammunition stored somewhere separately.

Did I also mention I am limited to 10 or less rounds?

I was going to add something else but there is a kiaboy with an autoswitch glock and extended mag tapping on my window while I type this.

Breaking an immoral law is no crime.

2A is in our constitution.

Fucking preach, I wish more people in California recognized this

Isn't the national guard supposed to be a state level militia?

Makes zero sense that the federal government should dictate where and how they are used. The feds should be going to states and asking to borrow their militia for whatever happens, typically national disaster response and not murdering political dissenters.

[–] nthavoc@lemmy.today 3 points 1 day ago

National Guard is part of the Army which is typically composed of reserve units. They are a state militia that report to the State and to the Federal Government. Most of their assets are federal assets. The governor can activate the national guard in a state of emergency without waiting on the president. However, the president can take over if a national emergency is declared or during war time for redeployment. Orange Chicken Little has manufactured a national crisis that is the "Invasion of Illegals". They are basically trying to strong arm dismantling the Posse Comitatus Act and bypass congress. Once that happens you can't impeach the Donvict because he is overseeing a national crisis.

quashing protests, will eventually leader to larger protests and then uprising, and maybe a rebellion eventually.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 25 points 2 days ago

Arrogant shits, aren't they?

[–] DarkDecay@lemmy.world 65 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Do you want a rebellion? Cause this how you get rebellions

[–] smeenz@lemmy.nz 48 points 2 days ago (7 children)

Yes, they do, because it will distract from the US joining a war in Iran, and from all of trumps other crimes.

[–] DicJacobus@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The foreign wars arent the point. The foreign wars are a means to an end

The end. Is being able to isolate one's self from the rest of the world. Enjoy perpetual dictatorial rule through martial law. And rule your corner of the world like an absolute monarchy. The other parts of the world can deal with their own regional warlords like Russia and China

The foreign wars. Like starting a war with Iran. Are likely going to be used as a vehicle to declare martial law in the USA. And once that happens. Trump is never going away until death takes him

The DOJ attorney emphasized that “sustained mob violence” in response to ICE raids is “no ordinary civil unrest,” claimed that it is ongoing, and asserted that such violence is “expressly aimed at preventing federal officers from enforcing federal law,” supporting Trump’s federalization of the Golden State’s National Guard.

That's just a lie, isn't it?

[–] teamevil@lemmy.world 100 points 2 days ago

Isn't everything the fascist assholes say a lie?

[–] jonne@infosec.pub 59 points 2 days ago (2 children)

That's standard Republican strategy. A lot of the cases that ended up in front of the Supreme Court are straight up manufactured. In the case of the lady who refused to create a website for a gay wedding, they contacted the guy who supposedly made the request and he'd never heard of it before. Republican operatives basically looked up a gay guy in San Francisco and used his details in the website's contact form.

Despite all that, the courts happily took the case and ruled on a complete fiction. Same thing happened in the case of the coach that forced his football team to pray.

Even if it were true, that does not amount to rebellion. Nobody is trying to overthrow the federal government.

Yet.

That's fascism, folks.

Arm yourselves.

Also, maybe don't do something dumb like vote 3rd party or abstain from voting next time around. Y'all were warned. Now it's happening.

[–] Buske@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

What about all the votes that were lost, removed, not counted? The way the elections, gerrymandering and more, Its all rigged.

This is dictatorship. It's mild only because no one is fighting back. The moment someone tries the gloves will come off.

well, what did the ninth circuit have to say in response?

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

Either "We agree, he can do that" or "No, he can't do that." In either case, he will do that and nobody will stop him.

[–] ramble81@lemmy.zip 106 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Tastes like fascism.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 74 points 2 days ago (1 children)

So much to unpack there...

So the bestest president evah now caused a rebellion? Did that ever happen before to any president? Oh yeah, under trump 1 there was January the 6th, instigated and orchestrated by king Cheeto

And now there is another rebellion?

I mean, it's demonstrations but seeing that distinction is hard for smooth brain idiots

Then telling judges that they can't say no because else they can't stop a rebellion? I mean, you STARTED it, if you want to stop it's really easy: STOP BREAKING THE LAW!

And stop telling judges they can't do their job
