In a Friday evening vote, the U.S. Senate rejected a war powers resolution that would have blocked President Donald Trump from making further attacks on Iran, despite widespread disapproval of last week’s strikes.

Senators voted 47-53, largely along party lines, on a measure offered by Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., that would have prohibited Trump from offensive measures while preserving his ability to defend U.S. forces.

Kaine’s resolution drew near-unanimous support from Democrats, including Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.

Fetterman is Jewish or maybe his stroke changed his personality and he likes the extra money he gets since he became a senator.

In 2024, a number of commentators said that Fetterman's views on Israel had shifted to the right and were more in line with those of Republicans.[162][163] By 2025, Fetterman had made a number of moves that were characterized as becoming closer to Trump while he has repeatedly criticized Democrats.[164][138][139][145][165][166] The New York Times reported that he had grown "more conservative, mostly on Israel, but also on a range of other issues."[167]

I wager the Israel lobby giving him large swaths of cash helped more than his identity.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 11 points 16 hours ago

A whole Congress full of filthy Benedict Arnolds. And they're winning.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 7 points 17 hours ago

This fuckin' guy.

[–] NotForYourStereo@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago

Hey mods, suck my cock.

I HOPE THIS DUDE DIES FROM A PAINFUL STROKE.

[–] Twoafros@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

When is his position up for election? New blood needs to primary this guy

[–] MimicJar@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

Fetterman was elected in 2022 for a 6 year term, so the 2028 election.

[–] raltoid@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

New blood needs to primary this guy

"The DNC wants to know your location!"

(Because that sort of talk is enough for them to want to arrest you on terrorist charges.)

[–] Nightwingdragon@lemmy.world 49 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Why is it that every time we get rid of the Joe Manchins of the party, someone else insists on taking on his role and torpedoing whatever Democrats manage to try to accomplish? There's always one. Sometimes two.

It's not pro wrestling. We don't need someone "turning heel" at the last minute and "Swerving the voters" to keep things entertaining. We don't need character twists like it's some kind of HBO drama. But yet every time one of these Manchin morons goes, it's like Democrats say "Ladies and gentlemen, the role of 'Shitstain Democrat here to gum up the works' will now be played by......"

[–] Mpeach45@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Because the big money is always trying to find the weakest link?

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 3 points 16 hours ago

Ding ding ding, we have a winner!

[–] SupraMario@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

I feel like this guy is worse than manchin, at least with manchin, he didn't run on such lies as this asshole.

[–] Xanthobilly@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The radio waves blocked by my tinfoil hat tell me two possibilities: the Republicans can always find dirt on a compromised congressperson OR it’s actually a single party run by oligarchs through managed opposition.

[–] lupusblackfur@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

Yeah. OK...

Or, as in Fetterman's case, have a stroke and wake up with what's left of your brain completely deranged, utterly fucked, and suffering the delusions of the rest of the MAGAts.

There really needs to be a way to recall vote someone in any similar situation. 🤡 💩

[–] oyo@lemmy.zip 27 points 1 day ago

Maybe people with verified brain damage should live complete, fulfilling, important lives, but not be allowed to have authority over others' lives?

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 49 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I feel like Fetterman knows his health is failing and he won't run again, so he's just selling out entirely. His initial support of Israel made sense with the demographics of Pennsylvania, but he's gone too far to avoid losing in the next primary for anything statewide.

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago

His health can't fail fast enough. The stroke unfortunately failed. I'm not saying that it didn't change his views as there is precedent with Phineas Gage, but if I suffer a stroke and survive only to be a dog shit human, I'd prefer if I didn't survive in the first first place. For the betterment of humanity, the stroke should have finished the job, but instead we're stuck with a Nazi in denial.

It's well past time to take Grandpa's car keys away. Bro's down to one last functioning brain cell bouncing around his skull like the DVD logo.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Does Lemmy have a !rareinsults community yet?

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 16 points 1 day ago

Another stroke, please- and get the job done this time.

Fetterman has been a huge disappointment, but remember the alternative was Dr Oz.

[–] dickalan@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I feel like Dr. Oz would’ve been taken so many bribes by now he would’ve gotten fired by default

[–] PlantJam@lemmy.world 4 points 17 hours ago

You'd think so, but look how long it took for George Santos to be kicked out. Someone more charismatic and acceptable to the GOP (not gay) like Oz could have stuck around for decades.

[–] Melatonin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Again, than you Democratic party. For providing someone who is slightly less bad.

[–] PlantJam@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Honestly it should just be the party motto at this point.

[–] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

Of course he did, he's a republican.

[–] Ulvain@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

So what's the leading theory on this guy? He was always horrible but we didn't know? His brain turned to mush and Uber conservatism after the accident? Russia or whomever now have shit on him? He just turned super self interested and saw there's more money in being a Trump lackey?

[–] FinalRemix@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He said himself that severe brain damage basically.unlocked who he thinks he always was supposed to be.

[–] PoastRotato@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Of course he'd say that, he has severe brain damage

[–] FinalRemix@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

And only tribial brain damblage!

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Edit: for the life of me, I can't figure out how I'd relocate the video, so take this with as much salt aa you deem necessary

I'm sorry I can't recall but there was a pretty in-depth Youtube video I watched that went into Fetterman's career. Posited he's always just wanted the democratic clout but he's a nepo-baby with conservative leanings deep-down.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 1 day ago

I can’t wait for him to lose office so I can stop reading about this turnip.

[–] lemmylump@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

What a pile of shit this guy turned out to be.

I'm ready for general strike and or some 2A

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Primary or worse this guy

[–] ordinarylove@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

anybody with a good arm could get this asshole out of our lives, he dances on his roof during protests against genocide

yes, exactly like Donkey Kong

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I've never heard this before, was this something he did pre or post his medical problems?

[–] ordinarylove@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

i don't really believe in that excuse because i am locally familiar with his entire history mishandling Braddock, PA

but specifically he started this Donkey Kong waving flags on roofs kind of thing in '23 so i think post what you are referring to

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'll have to look it up because I was reading that as he was waving flags supporting Gaza and post stroke everything I've heard is he went from being slightly pro Israel to staunchly pro Israel to the extent that many on his staff were speaking out calling his actions gross and being upset he went back to being on twitter claiming people should protest about women in Israel getting raped when Israel is murdering a whole populous and has many reports of them raping/torturing men/women and such.

it sounds like you'd better go look it up

i don't recommend getting to know him or living in his state, DEFINITELY avoid braddock (because the air is poison), if you hear he is going to be somewhere that you are also going to be, try to avoid being hit with barrels

Vote blue no matter who 🎵 /s

[–] solsangraal@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

this was supposed to be the shining beacon of hope to do senatorial things better than dr. oz...

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Read his history. He was always a Manchin or Gabbard.
