A short version video if you don't wanna waste half an hour:

[–] qevlarr@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Of course some people of any group will do shitty things like DWI. That's not news. It doesn't tell us anything about the group. This is anecdotal.

But it's shocking that being held accountable is newsworthy. These people operate above the law. Even when not related to their job, they often are. That's fucked

[–] 6stringringer@lemmy.zip 3 points 4 hours ago

Lol. When being treated respectfully feels like oppression.

[–] Fandangalo@lemmy.world 11 points 6 hours ago

It’s really hard to have sympathy for someone begging to see their kids when they drove recklessly with them in the car.

Also, you know, the whole ripping other families apart, for the law or whatever. I guess he’s cool with enacting destruction, but not so much on the receiving end.

It’s not like I’d expect much self awareness, but come on, dude… “I’m federal.” “Why you fucking me?” “Are you Haitian?” and you can’t walk a straight line? Who is really fucking who? Hint: look in the mirror. Personal responsibility, homie…

[–] aeternum@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 6 hours ago

TIL ICE goons are racist. Colour me shocked!

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 29 points 9 hours ago

ICE is a jobs program for racist losers who can’t get one or hold one down anywhere else

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 5 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I bet that cop is going to get snatched by the Nazi Gestapo soon

That's the video from the article. Tough to watch. He's very clearly very drunk and trying to talk his way out of it for 30min. Appealing to his authority as fellow law enforcement, even trying to pull an ICE by racially profiling that one cop. Being a Karen. But the worst is how he's constantly hiding behind his kids and his role as father I guess. Like having kids per se absolves him of any crime. Dude, making them is the easy part.

[–] Fandangalo@lemmy.world 6 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

This guy really doesn’t recognize who he is: racist, driving drunk, irresponsible father. Those kids could have been hurt.

[–] tym@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Speaking as the offspring of a racist irresponsible drunk: they're already hurt.

[–] 3abas@lemmy.world 5 points 6 hours ago

Drunk driving WITH the kids.

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 8 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Delightful. Dude acted like an angsty teenager the whole time, which is probably where he stopped maturing so that makes sense, and actually got a consequence which is great to see.

And man, wild how he could walk that line but just standing still was next to impossible. When he had to stand with his feet together and fell back that look of “yo who pushed me” was so fucking funny. Brother the wind ain’t that strong.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

I guess we were lucky he didn't start a fight. Instead we could watch him squirm and whine and "dude, really?!" for half an hour.
OTOH there were 3 police cars behind him and at least 3 guys (no idea who stayed in the car), not much he could've done anyhow, and I'm pretty sure he was aware of the numbers. He certainly didn't behave because of his kids, despite his endless protestations and the cop reminding him.

[–] DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 18 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

If two non-white ICE agents were off duty and had an argument with each other at a bar, they'll definitely try to deport each other lol.

[–] KingGimpicus@sh.itjust.works 3 points 39 minutes ago

Watched an ICE protest live in IL a few days ago, and the best part was a guy on a loudspeaker going "hey, that cop look Mexican. Why don't you check his immigration status?" Or "that cop looks a little brown, you sure he's an American? He could be a protestor." Lmfaooo

[–] jason_is_back@tucson.social 54 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago) (1 children)

Man, Do i respect this guy. Kids in the back crying, you drunk as fuck, and about to go to jail. Does that stop him from being racist? Fuck No! What a winner. Can't see why his wife left him?

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 14 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

But he's a combat vet! Didn't you know that means crimes isn't crimes no mo.

[–] jason_is_back@tucson.social 4 points 8 hours ago

The vet stuff was more of a "im fucked up so i can pass this test."

The "same team" screams "HOW DARE YOU HOLD ME ACCOUNTABLE!"

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 57 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

The officer proceeded to administer field sobriety tests. During the tests, another officer came over to ensure that Deiseroth did not stumble while trying to walk a straight line along the side of a busy highway.

Deiseroth then questioned why the second officer, who was Black, was there, and the officer informed him that it was to prevent him from getting hit by oncoming traffic.

Deiseroth responded by repeatedly asking the officer, "Are you Haitian?"

Deiseroth was then informed by the officer administering the sobriety test that "it doesn't matter" where the other officer was from or his heritage.

"Yes it does," Deiseroth replied.

Ignorant sack of shit to the bitter end.

[–] LemmyFeed@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

It makes me wonder what type of rhetoric he's hearing internally at DHS. Is that why it "matters" if the officer is Haitian? Are they being instructed that Haitians are higher on their shit list or something?

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 4 points 8 hours ago

It's just a handy question to into update any black person in general. They start threatening to take them in until they confirm their citizenship, which should only take a few days. Most people will back down, no matter how innocent they are.

[–] wowwoweowza@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

I usually feel embarrassed by schadenfreude. I’m okay in this case.

[–] _lilith@lemmy.world 29 points 12 hours ago

Just fucking keys on that dude having an accent halfway through being arrested. He's so drunk he can't walk a line but the Nazi shit is reflex level.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 80 points 15 hours ago (3 children)

Dude would have been dragged out of his car and tased and ziptied if he was brown. Broski was given time to leisurely talk to his kids through the back window before discussion behind the vehicle.

[–] ReasonablePea@sh.itjust.works 10 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (1 children)

How is this not the highest comment here. Regardless of who he works for, this guy absolutely got little kid gloves even after being aggressive during the test and most importantly HE ACTUALLY RESISTED ARREST!

I know I shouldn't be hoping for someone to get police brutality treatment but I'm just fucking fed up with this shit

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 5 points 9 hours ago

I'd rather most stops were more like his, if I'm to be honest. Meaning, treating the person as if they are a human (even if the guy does come off like an entitled douche). I have a feeling if it was him pulling over someone brown, it might look like some of the clips I've seen Meidas posting, where ICE is ripping open a car door and pulling people out of a car, getting them on the ground, etc. I have a feeling these guys were being more than deferential because of what his job was.

This guy was actually doing something dangerous in his case - driving under the influence. Granted, I don't know the full context of those ICE videos I've seen short clips of, but it sure seems they are escalating things rather quickly and only because they are brown. Do these people really need to be hauled out of their car, wrestled to the ground, etc.?

[–] BCBoy911@lemmy.ca 54 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago) (1 children)

Yea the most notable part of the story is that the cops actually did their job and arrested him instead of letting him go as soon as they heard he was a fellow cop. If the guy played it a bit cooler and wasn't so belligerent and racist to them they probably would have.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 5 points 11 hours ago

Not so sure; he was very obviously very drunk. He was just trying to delay the inevitable - revealing exactly what types of scumbag he is in the process.

[–] NatakuNox@lemmy.world 17 points 12 hours ago

100% but somehow we're uncivilized and need to be policed more. Meanwhile, the most dangerous places in America isn't the inner cities. We still have sun down towns in America.

[–] gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world 58 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

After failing the sobriety tests, Deiseroth was placed in handcuffs and informed that he was being placed under arrest. He then pleaded with the officers to not take him to prison and asked what they were going to do with his two children.

... I really don't think I could properly express my sentiments about both the level of parental care and hypocrisy on display here in a way that wouldn't get me at least a stern talking-to by some fed dipshit,

So I'll just leave this article about teenagers and young adults who have been forced to become caretakers for their younger siblings after their parents were kidnapped by ICE (arc) instead

[–] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de 21 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Its not hypocrisy, because he doesnt see his victims as humans of equal value. In his eyes the suffering of his victims is actually a net improvement for society.

Ladies and gentleman, meet the next member of the Trump Cabinet.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 39 points 15 hours ago

He’s just a kid, why let something like this ruin his life? /s

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 19 points 15 hours ago

He’ll be head of the ATF within a week

[–] handsoffmydata@lemmy.zip 20 points 12 hours ago

Dude was promoted to Hegseths drinking buddy and added to the signal group chat before the test was even over.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 88 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

the officers informed him that his sons’ mother—with whom Deiseroth had said earlier he was going through a divorce—would pick up the two children at the police station.

This story is gonna go over so well in the divorce proceedings

[–] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 26 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

Someone just got full custody.

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 8 points 10 hours ago

And it's THEIR fault for trying to "fuck him"

unfortunate for the kids having to go through all this but also likely best now he won’t be allowed near them.

[–] devolution@lemmy.world 6 points 9 hours ago

Empathy for me, not for thee.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 75 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

Schadenfreude timestamp is about 30 minutes in.

Highlight from cop to ICE agent:

I got a DUI two years ago, just go jail and cry about like a man

And without the slightest hint of irony:

I'm just doing my job, it pays the bills, I can't say no.

Like, he seemed to be sincere, but using the stereotypical "just following orders" to a modern Nazi is peak irony. It pretty much broke the ICE guys brain

[–] EditsHisComments@lemmy.world 6 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

His shirt advertising a Brewing Company is just icing on the cake

[–] otacon239@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

“Good Times” until they aren’t

[–] aarch0x40@lemmy.world 43 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

I can't believe all those "come on guys" pleas didn't work.

[–] danekrae@lemmy.world 29 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Are you really gonna do this?

[–] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 15 points 12 hours ago

C'mon bro, I'm white. The two pillars of law enforcement are supposed to be fucking with minorities and being totally unaccountable under the law and you're really violating them right now. Let's just get these cuffs off and go throw this Hatian guy off the bridge together.

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 9 points 12 hours ago

A woke officer arrested one of our strong ICE agents. We need to send in the Fascist Taskforce and replace that loser governor of Florida.

[–] Aeao@lemmy.world 9 points 12 hours ago

Dude was hoping to deport the officers
