It’s quite untoward to have a pedophile’s visage on any of our currency.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

I'd love to see some reporter ask Bessent what denomination will have Epstein's face on it.

Prince Andrew is on the back.

Thayer Amendment - 1866:

https://www.britannica.com/topic/Can-a-Living-Person-Appear-on-US-Currency

"The Thayer Amendment: This 1866 law prohibited the use of the image of any living person on “the bonds, securities, notes, or postal currency of the United States.” It was an outgrowth of a silly act of vanity committed by Treasury Department official Spencer Clark, who decided to put himself on banknotes intended to honor explorer William Clark, of Lewis and Clark fame. The congressional bill authorizing the creation of the note only specified that it should honor “Clark,” and so Spencer Clark decided to memorialize himself."

I didn't know the history on that, that's hilarious that it was passed as a "fuck you, in particular!" for one guy!

silly act of vanity

That's basically everything in PEDOnald's two failed terms.

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Unfortunately that's not all the US admin has done during that time.

The thing with laws is that Congress can always change them by passing another law....

... but from what I've read, the current text of Joe Wilson's bill carves out an exception for "living and former Presidents". So, if this passes, we may get our Obama $420 bill someday....

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 7 points 2 days ago

It's so American that there's precedent for that.

The worst thing about Trump is that everything he does has already been done before; he just accumulates.

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

It’ll be the pedo bill.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

Who carries $250 in cash?

[–] dirthawker0@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Isn't a person supposed to be dead first before we put their face on currency? I think the people advocating for this must be wanting it to be true! And wouldn't that be considered a threat to our lovely dearest Sir, King Pedo?

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I may be wrong but I think it's American law

[–] brygphilomena@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I don't know why they keep using the idiotic looking down portrait of him for everything. He looks so insecure, like he's trying to be tough and failing.

[–] backalleycoyote@lemmy.today 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Impressive. Very nice. Let's see Paul Allen's bill.

Bessent looks like Jim Carrey playing a cartoonishly over-the-top villain.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Bessent always reminds me of that SNL character that Wil Ferrell played - Harry Caray.

Harry Caray was a real person. He was a baseball announcer for the Cubs. I never would have known except that we lived with my uncle for a year, and he watched the Cubs whenever they played.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 13 points 2 days ago

$250 that's a weird denomination. How about the Epstein files?

[–] CCMan1701A@startrek.website 3 points 1 day ago

Cool, but no thanks.

[–] marine_mustang@sh.itjust.works 36 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Can’t be on currency? Put yourself on a non-circulating “commemorative” bill “for collectors” and sell them. Problem solved. Anyone want to take bets that this is what will happen?

[–] turtlesareneat@piefed.ca 18 points 2 days ago

He did that years ago

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I cannot help but wonder how the target demo for velvet paintings of Jesus and Elvis vs. that for bullshit commemorative coins sold that have "easy" installment payments vs. the demo that would snap up these (whether they are legal tender or what you propose may happen) would all stack up on a Venn diagram....

$250? Seems a weird denomination. Why not the $47 bill? I'd bet most Americans could scrape together $47 and frame it over their microwave oven. But $250? That's a lot of dough.

Does he know he doesn't get royalties? Or does he? Is there a bill in the works I haven't heard about?

[–] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 day ago

They're just getting ahead of the curve on inflation. Don't worry, they'll have a $500 and $1000 ready soon enough. Those will be your new $5s and $10s by the time Donald is done with the US.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Oh, if you mean PEDOnald, he and his crime family are trying to set up themselves to be bankers to the world via their cryptoschemes and rake in untold sums as a consequence.

Royalties on a denomination no one but his idiotic mouthbreathing cult wants would be chump change in comparison...

[–] Floon@lemmy.ml 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I look at this guy and clearly see someone with a crazy submissive kink, something really degrading.

[–] kbobabob@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Is there something wrong with that?

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

There's only something wrong with it if you think there's something wrong with it. It's like being gay, but a homophobe. It's wrong to make other people suffer because you can't deal with your own issues, or to make others suffer but you still get to enjoy the lifestyle they want.

[–] diabetic_porcupine@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Why not put him on the $1000 bill… then the $10000… and then the $100000000 bill…heck we could be the next Zimbabwe dollar

[–] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago

Give it six months.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He looks like Stephen King's evil brother.

[–] turdburglar@piefed.social 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

he looks like if george w bush was a mormon

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 1 points 6 hours ago

For a second I thought you wrote moron, which confused me because I mean it's George Bush. But then I reread it.

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

My prediction: It'll become the most used bill for fraud, drugs and money laundering!

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago

I've already seen anti-Pumkinhead things on currency, this bill is going to be the most defaced currency ever.

Also, Bessent is such a useless suck-up.

[–] WatDabney@sopuli.xyz 18 points 2 days ago

And certainly you can trust the word of a grossly unqualified sycophant.

[–] modus@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

I've already vowed not to accept any currency with his signature on it. Putting his mug shot on it will only make that easier.

Is that brown lipstick Bessent is wearing?

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Bessent just looks so much like a bad parody of a guy you want to punch in the face.

[–] Mycatiskai@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

He's not a parody, he just should be punched in the face.

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Bessent: Nothing 'untoward' about fellating Trump
