Logitech has been doing odd things since it was bought by a Private Equity company. They have a bunch of assets and other companies. Logitech may have just had the balance sheet strength/credit to do the acquisition on behalf of some other company in their portfolio of weird stuff.

Isn’t Logitech a publicly traded company?
Just killing the competition. Standard monopolistic practices.
They operated the brand actually for about 6 years, in 2022 they scrapped it because they just weren't making enough money as a brand, logitech actually had a 32% drop their audio and wearables sales for the quarter.
Less competition = more profit, its just like how Apple took over beats and then created Apple Music and Airpods
Because it’s a trash company. Long ago they bought the squeezebox product line, which was fabulous at the time. Aaaaaaaaand, they killed it.
taking the tech of jaybird and killing the competition
Jaybirday have owned some sort of asset that is useful indirectly to Logitech. It may not even be about the products they make. Maybe they just did it so they could expand their market cap slightly then liquidate the assets. Like buildings or equipment or whatever.
Same reasons Logitech bought Ultimate Ears. Market share.
Logitech bought Blue Microphones aka killed their brand too. It’s just a LogiCool thing to do.
I mean they also dominated the universal remote market, drove out all competitors, and then just let it die... Must be their kink
I don’t know but I still have my Tarah Pro the best pair off running earbuds I own. I still own and extra pair that I keep in the box for when my current pair go bad.
In mergers and acquisitions this happens quite a bit to smaller companies. Logitech may have wanted some technology from the company. Could've been something we don't even know about. Maybe even their production facility.
Who knows, but once aquired Jaybird now has Logitech as a boss to answer to. They may have certain numbers they are expected to meet. Or some kind of deadline on a release. When they fail to meet the new expectations is when you see the small company disappear. Unfortunately a lot of what might make a smaller company good or liked just doesn't fit in with giant corporate machines like Logitech.
to kill the competition, and inflate prices
The op peaked my interest, so I visited ultimate ears and surprise they're selling jaybird vista 2s for those that adored them. ❤️ 😘
I wish I knew because the quality went into the toilet. My vista 2 right earbud won't charge. Best they will offer is 25% any one item. It's too bad since they skus they killed were indestructible. I ran tarah pros through the washer and dryer and they worked great. The vista 2 they were like "did you clean them every time you put them in the charging case" um.. no. I use them while running. Literally like their ads promote the intended use. I believe it was earth proof or something like that when v1 came out
Logitech sucks
