Holy shit, he refused to give back the original trophy, stole a medal and then ruined the celebration. These are the hallmarks of a fricking 4 year old at someone else's birthday party!

Did he also comment that this isn't real football and that football is played with the hand?

Yet another reminder that the President of the United States is profoundly mentally ill and undeniably unfit for office.

[–] redlemace@lemmy.world 69 points 1 day ago

Well, he is convicted .... Just saying ....

[–] CosmoNova@lemmy.world 26 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And a thief, among other worse things but definitely a thief.

[–] psycho_driver@lemmy.world 5 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (1 children)

Rapist is probably worse than a thief. Pedophile is arguably worse than a rapist. Not sure where to slot traitor in there.

Rapist is probably worse than a thief? Dude...

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 0 points 3 hours ago

Depends what you're stealing? I guess? Stealing babies might be worse? I dunno.

Infantino and Trump are made to be BFFs. Not only is Infantino's name on the trophy TWICE (which is almost three times too many), but he also insisted on THIS bullshit:

[–] Lootboblin@lemmy.world 5 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Corrupt and disgusting sports boss from Switzerland. I’ve heard that before.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, except this one is actually much WORSE than Blatter, as impossible as that may seem!

[–] Lootboblin@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

They also have Rene Fasel (former IIHF boss). He is Putin’s homeboy these days.

[–] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 21 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Is that really his name? Infantino? Like "infant," but with the diminutive -ino, making it more like "little infant"?

At first I thought that was a new nickname for Trump.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 7 points 18 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 10 hours ago

Tbf though, they've already been insulted by having that name in the first place 🤷

[–] CosmoNova@lemmy.world 85 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Let‘s not beat around the bush he STOLE the Club world cup trophy.

[–] Brkdncr@lemmy.world 28 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

It was given to him by that FIFA ghoul.

He should have given it to the winning team on his own but he’s too narcissistic.

The good news for Kraft is that he's now friends with the president of the United States

More context, the Patriots' team charter jet has been making mysterious trips to Guanatanamo Bay in recent months.

Ah fuck, they’re raping prisoners there again, aren’t they?

I worked for a university lab and a professor in the department stole my white elephant gift because he liked it. How can you get to such a high level and be so low innately.

[–] fluxion@lemmy.world 24 points 22 hours ago

Clearly he'd be better suited for less professional environment, like President of the United States of America, or perhaps a Supreme Court seat that can be bought with free vacation vouchers

[–] Horsey@lemmy.world 4 points 19 hours ago

Dude that happened to me too lmao.

[–] gandalf_der_12te@discuss.tchncs.de 15 points 19 hours ago

This is a comedy these days. If human lifes weren't at stake, i'd just lean back and watch 5 seasons of this comedy that the US is nowadays.

[–] Wytch@lemmy.zip 62 points 1 day ago

For anyone still wondering where the bottom is, this should convince you there isn't one. A narcissist's ego is a black hole.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 20 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

I hate how people cater to his inflated ego.

[–] Xande@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 19 hours ago

Their

Infantino is some Trump impersonator too!

[–] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 59 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sure seems like FIFA is proving that Saudi buying out floors of Trump hotels makes a big difference. Open corruption being allowed was always going to result in someone turning it into a sport.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 19 hours ago

That and Infantino is pretty much the Swiss Trump.

He makes his predecessor Sepp Blatter (who was so corrupt that FIFA very publicly banned him from all football activities for 8 years, quietly reduced it by two years, and then added a further six years when they discovered even MORE corruption) look like Keanu Reeves!

[–] redlemace@lemmy.world 55 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'd refuse a replica. . It should not have left the winners unless they themselves lend it out. So i'd even refuse the original if it wasn't returned in three days or less.

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 20 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago) (1 children)

Well the issue is they gave the actual trophy to Trump in March. It has been sitting in the Whitehouse since. Even if Trump lied about asking when they were coming to pick it up, the Whitehouse isn't someplace you just leave an object for a little while. First I imagine the secret service would want to review the device wasn't bugged being in the oval office... Second you can't just drop by to pick something up from there easily. Scheduling all that shit would be more annoyance than just making 2 up front probably.

Note: Trump did remove historical artifacts sent by Israel from the White House and move them to Mar-A-Lago, so I don't believe that this will end up in the National Archives like the article stated, it will end up as his property.

Come to think of it, I wouldn't rule it out that it IS bugged and Trump forbade the USSS from checking like he did with the unsecure phone he insisted on using for tweeting through most of his first infestation of the place 😮‍💨

[–] ReallyActuallyFrankenstein@lemmynsfw.com 41 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I had to read the headline and source twice to believe this wasn't the Onion.

Stole their trophy and stole their valor for the win when he didn’t dismiss him self at their photo op.

Probably the only time he’s ever been part of a celebration

Breaking news: criminal steals

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 10 points 20 hours ago

God, what a dumbass.

[–] Nightwingdragon@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago

Isn't this the same guy who just makes up tournaments at his own golf courses that he always mysteriously "wins"?

[–] twinnie@feddit.uk 12 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

This is all the article says about giving it back: “They [FIFA] said: ‘Could you hold this trophy for a little while?’ We put it in the Oval Office and then I said: ‘When are you going to pick up the trophy’, and [FIFA President Gianni Infantino] said: ‘We’re never going to pick it up, you can have it forever in the Oval Office,’” Trump explained in a mid-game chat with the broadcaster, DAZN.

[–] Spezi@feddit.org 11 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

To be fair, Trump says a lot of bullshit. The original story was probably „You can take some photos in the oval office with it“ and he just hallucinated the rest similiar to Google Gemini.

[–] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I had to have a double take to check that TheDailyBeast hadn't become a satire news outlet.

Anyone else saw how he had to be ushered to the back of the crowd during the trophy presentation? He really believed the cheers were for him.

[–] sexy_peach@feddit.org 10 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

Full article: https://archive.ph/kiLLx

This is hilarious let's hope it enrages millions of sports fans.

[–] galoisghost@aussie.zone 5 points 18 hours ago

It won’t.

Everyone knows FIFA is corrupt as shit and them buddying up to a corrupt dictator is just a regular weekday.

Chelsea fans might get upset at having a replica but non-Chelsea fans will just take the piss out of this fact.

[–] TheOctonaut@mander.xyz 7 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Its the Club World Cup, it means nothing to anyone
